Nice post S.

Let's remember what Jesus said and begin to be careful with our words:
Luke 6:46
46“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?

Not referring this verse to you.
But I DO believe it's very important to be careful to state that it
is absolutely necessary to say that God must be obeyed.

To say that works, good deeds, behavior Jesus would approve, does not
save is to misrepresent what Jesus taught.
The fact is that any formula for salvation will only ever be half right. There are 2 standards.

Bicycles and motorcycles. Tell a bicycle rider to start up the engine and you will get a blank look. Tell the motorbike rider to grease the pedals and he will think you are senile. But he could interpret that to changing the oil in his engine? Is that the equivalent?

You mean I should smile a little more when they put their boot on my neck? Would that please the fence sitters?

This is not personal to me. The truth is the truth. You don't make the truth easier to make you seem more humble.

I thought you were going to say that people were at different levels of darkness in their understanding. I was reaching for the like button.
I'll take my LIKE.

Two comments:

1. Wm Lane Craig smiled even as he told someone they were headed for hell.
It's not because you're not saying truth...
it's because a person will listen more to that truth.

2. Christians certainly are at different levels.
But our objective is growth.
I'd say at different levels of LIGHT
NOT different levels of darkness.

A born again person is in the light.

Well, what is the formula E?
How difficult do we want to make it?

Here's mine.

1. Believe in God.
2. Obey God.

Simple.

I remember it was John who said "perfect love cast out all fear" but just look at what he did when he saw the risen glorified Christ in Rev 1. He fell at his feet as dead. Standing before a Holy Glorified Jesus is more than just fear...Paul said it was TERROR!

2 Co 5:11
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men;

Your warnings against spiritual presumption and a lack of the fear of the Lord should resonate with a child of God
Agreed and liked. But I see how you are still on the fence where it comes to God's ways.

There is a positive net and a negative net. Leaven can be a good thing or a bad thing. It depends on the context.

Do I believe that the most important thing in the world is faith in Christ? YES. Me, more than anyone. But I don't just spew slogans at people...because I know it in truth. The sloganeering is made by those who don't know what they are talking about.

Because Christianity for most is just a set of beliefs and propositions..without any connection to God...they go right for what they think is proper right away...turning people off by their religious extremism. They don't know how to measure anything. It's like they have a firehose and they think everybody is on fire.

But I measure out the truth like a surgeon....cutting away at the cancer and what takes away from life. All people see is that I'm not trying to put out the fires they see everywhere.

Not everybody is on fire so that they need a firehose to save them. Those who don't know God scream the loudest about peope going to hell. It turns off more than it helps. It depends on the application. To a hammer everybody looks like a nail.
2. Christians certainly are at different levels.

You can't get a like until you realize that darkness has many depths. And so many will be rejected into outer darkness because they are happy without the light.

No...regeneration is a SAMPLE of the light. To move INTO the light you need to sell all you have and buy the field that contains it. Few if any will ever do that.

For you personally, it is that simple. That is your experience. But you better not become a teacher. Since a teacher is held to a much stricter judgment because he NEEDS a better judgment.

What do you say to those who already are obedient to God but know nothing of Him? Repent from your obedience?

What do you say to those who say they believe but teach lies?

What do you say to those who have "accepted" Jesus and see everything through that lens...the lens of themselves being the foundation?

So then people are very easily deceived...especially concerning things that are invisible like spiritual things. The devil has a very easy time deceiving people.
Agreed :100:!
Gullible is the word I would have used. Which makes not only the devil's work of exploitation easier?
Makes exploitation of those "swept" by the "Scorpion's Tail" pretty easy as well!
Which makes the overcoming just that much more difficult after one has been "CONVICTED!"
But from actual personal experience?
It's ACTUALLY more better in the long run!
As difficulty makes the "being learnt" LAST LONGER! :gd

A Serious Warning About Episkopos and His Teaching

I believe it is time to give a serious warning about Episkopos and what he is teaching on this forum.

I am not writing this because I dislike the man, and I am not calling every disagreement between Christians false teaching. Christians can disagree over many things. But there comes a point where the gospel itself is being changed, and when that happens Christians are supposed to speak up.

I believe Episkopos has crossed that line.

John warned that there were already “many antichrists” in his day (1 John 2:18). He said, “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son” (1 John 2:22). John also wrote, “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God” (2 John 9).

I am not calling Episkopos the Antichrist spoken of in prophecy. I am saying the doctrine of Christ and the gospel cannot be rewritten. When a man changes what Christ accomplished or teaches another way of salvation, Christians need to recognize what is happening.

On July 23, Episkopos wrote:

His post:
https://www.christianityboard.com/threads/reviving-biblical-christianity-the-way-part-2.76263/post-2291836

Those are his words, not mine. Yet Acts 13:38 says, “through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins.” Ephesians 1:7 says, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins.” Jesus Himself said His blood was “shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matthew 26:28).

So when Episkopos says Jesus did not come to forgive sins and the cross is not about forgiveness, who are we going to believe, Episkopos or Jesus Christ?

Episkopos also wrote:

He continued:

His post:
https://www.christianityboard.com/threads/reviving-biblical-christianity-the-way-part-2.76263/post-2295067

Romans 4 says the opposite. “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” Paul then says God “imputeth righteousness without works” (Romans 4:5-6).

God says righteousness is imputed without works. Episkopos says the only thing God can impute is what we ourselves produce and calls the kingdom a “meritocracy.” Both cannot be true.

On August 24 he made it even clearer:

Then:

His post:
https://www.christianityboard.com/threads/reviving-biblical-christianity-the-way-part-2.76263/post-2307038

But Romans 3:28 says, “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” Romans 4:5 says God justifies “him that worketh not.” Ephesians 2:8-9 says salvation is “through faith...not of works.”

James does not contradict Paul. Abraham believed God and righteousness was counted to him in Genesis 15:6. His later obedience in Genesis 22 demonstrated that his faith was real. Works show living faith. They are not another way for an ungodly sinner to earn justification before God.

What concerns me even more is what Episkopos has said about salvation outside of faith in Jesus Christ:

He also wrote:

His post:
https://www.christianityboard.com/threads/reviving-biblical-christianity-the-way-part-2.76263/post-2308094

Read that carefully. He is teaching salvation “whatever the religious belief is” and saying “God doesn't care what our beliefs are.”

Jesus certainly cared.

“He that believeth not is condemned already” (John 3:18).

“If ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins” (John 8:24).

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).

Peter said of Jesus, “Neither is there salvation in any other” (Acts 4:12). John said, “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life” (1 John 5:12).

There is no room in those verses for salvation regardless of religious belief. A person who rejects the Son does not have the Father. Good works do not create another road to eternal life.

A man can say true things about Jesus and still preach a false gospel. Episkopos may say he believes Jesus is God, but that does not give him permission to deny what Christ accomplished on the cross or invent another way of salvation.

Paul said, “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:8).

There is another reason people here should be very careful with his teaching. Episkopos makes extraordinary claims about his own spiritual authority. He wrote that he was “transported into Zion to walk in the light as He is in the light.” He then said:

He also said:

His post:
https://www.christianityboard.com/threads/reviving-biblical-christianity-the-way-part-2.76263/post-2307752

That should not impress Christians. It should make us test his teaching even more carefully.

A man can claim God spoke to him, transported him somewhere, gave him mysteries, or taught him directly. None of those claims prove anything. Scripture says, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God” (1 John 4:1).

How do we test what Episkopos claims? We open the Bible.

The Holy Spirit does not contradict the Word He inspired. When someone's claimed spiritual experience says one thing and Scripture says another, Scripture wins every time.

That is why I believe Episkopos should be regarded as a false teacher. I am not saying that because he disagrees with me. I am saying it because his own words repeatedly contradict clear Scripture concerning the cross, justification, salvation, and the necessity of faith in Jesus Christ.

He says Jesus did not come to forgive sins, while Scripture says forgiveness of sins is preached through Jesus. He rejects vicarious imputation and calls God's kingdom a meritocracy, while Scripture says God imputes righteousness without works. He says God justifies by works as well as faith, while Scripture says God justifies the ungodly who believes apart from works. He teaches salvation regardless of religious belief, while Jesus says no man comes to the Father except through Him.

Then he tells people his authority comes from heaven, that the Holy Spirit taught him directly, and that he has been permitted to understand mysteries few people know.

That combination should concern every Christian on this forum.

False teaching does not normally announce itself as false teaching. It often comes wrapped in Bible verses, spiritual language, claims of deeper understanding, talk about holiness, and claims of special revelation. Paul warned about “another Jesus,” “another spirit,” and “another gospel” (2 Corinthians 11:4).

I am not asking anyone to take my word for it. I have given the links to Episkopos's own posts. Read them for yourself and then open your Bible. Put his words beside Romans 3 and 4, John 3, John 14, Acts 4, Ephesians 1 and 2, and 1 John.

Then decide which one you are going to believe.

When someone changes the gospel, Christians should not stay quiet because they are afraid of being called judgmental or unloving. Souls are at stake.

Episkopos needs to repent of these teachings and come back under the authority of the written Word of God. Until he does, Christians on this forum need to test everything he teaches against Scripture before believing any of it.

Jesus said not to cast what is holy to either the swine or the dogs. If this was a place where spiritually aware seekers congregated...or even just honest seekers frequented...well maybe I could go deeper into the manifold experiences that inform me of where I stand today.

Jesus said My sheep hear My voice.

This is on 2 levels.

1. We can recognize the truth in what Jesus is saying in order to put our lives on track with the commands of Christ.

2. We can be guided by the inner voice of the Spirit....in an audible voice...either from within...or from outside, from above.

Some Christians are indeed influenced by the first. The second is far more rare.

I only teach deeper things among disciples. Paul is an example of this. And it works. Our CLOSE fellowship is ONLY among disciples even as we all interact with others who are just believers but have no spiritual understanding. We always help those to their advantage not our own. All are our brethren whether spiritual or not. But a carnal believer can't hear anything deeper. A filthy believer will attack and accuse, because they are animated by a spirit of carnality. They have been promised life IN their wickedness. Where? Those who set up pews and fleece money from people.

Well, the LORD Baptized me in the Holy Spirit, therefore you are free to share 'mature' things with me.

Do not be afraid of the immature since they will not understand no matter what truth you share.

Today, you are able, invited and inspired to give your insight to being "directly" taught by the Holy Spirit.

Yes. But these spoil the soup, as we say, for others and make a civil conversation very difficult.

Have you heard my "mud people" vision? I have posted it on various forums including this one. So I'm posting this here for you...to give you an idea on how I was taught of God concerning His word. I had been asking the Lord about the 4 eternal destinies as Jesus taught...and wondering about those who are saved yet cast into outer darkness. I related this vision to a certain brother called "C" on another forum. He didn't believe it, but had a dream that said that it was true. He contacted me and before he died he also encountered the Lord personally.

So much for forum history...here is the vision...now it's been more like 27 years or so.

The Mud People

I got this dream/vision about 20 or so years ago now. It came to me in 2 parts. Actually, one part came while I slept...there was no sound (no audio) and the 2nd part came in the day... (just the sound). I'm putting them together to relate this.

I saw this huge plain with a ring of mountains just visible in the distance. It is quite dark. I notice that there is a very big angel blowing a trumpet. He is about 10 stories high. There is another angel who is also very big and he is holding a large sword. Behind them is a raised plateau of earth, like a miniature flat mountain. A mound I will call it. In front of this mound, and the angels, are rows and rows of bumps on the ground. They are arranged like ranks in the military fashion. Again, it is quite dark, so the details are sketchy.

Then, it appears like dawn is breaking in the distance. But this dawn is getting brighter and brighter. Much brighter than daylight. I see a host among clouds hovering in our direction. I am awed that the light is getting even brighter. I am on my face now, as I can no longer stand up. Now I see the throne of God with God sitting in it. He is surrounded by many people, all hovering and a long queue of angels trailing in the distance. There is a smaller throne on His right side. The whole group hovers (and lands?) on the mound. Now I begin to notice that what I thought were bumps in the earth are actually people that are hunched over in worship. They are the same colour as the earth around them as they have covered themselves in it to hide their nakedness and shame. There is a smaller angel at my side who tells me that when these people hear the trumpet they must bow to the ground or be slain by the angel holding the sword. These people are never allowed to look directly at God on pain of death. They are the cast-aways on whom is everlasting shame.

Praise the Lord,

There are too many. The Lord directs me almost daily to a verse...in the middle of the night...and from there I get a whole new revelation through a comparison with something I find "accidentally". From these revelations I teach and make podcasts.

I call that collecting the morning dew. There have also been times of rain where the miraculous is commonplace. It all serves to teach God's ways in general and God's way in Christ in particular.

I also study the bible in Hebrew specifically to get a deeper prophetic perspective. In 2000 I heard an audible voice from above say to me 2 words...LEARN HEBREW. That was it. And a hunger for the language was very powerful in me for years...I studied more than 12 hours a day...even at work and I had verses all over my house. (I still have most of them)

Maybe you could share something deeper that is never taught by men and give me more of an idea how I could encourage you in your seeking.

My experiential knowledge from the Holy Spirit is similiar.
i pray, read, pray and listen/wait for the understanding from the Spirit of Truth.

Please elaborate how you came to this conclusion(below) which you posted #19:

And that's the feebleness of modern theology that has been adapted to what is already achievable without God in any way shape or form.

No church theologian relies on the authority of God. Theology is the study ABOUT God...fully leaving Him out of the equation. People want to study God as if He was a phenomenon to be measured and quantified. A fools errand really. God is not like the moon that people can observe through their telescopes....or like a micro-organism that can be studied through their microscopes. No, God is so big that people don't notice Him. We are the ants.

God can speak through a prophet directly to the church. We have experienced this too. A HUGE voice that is not human coming from a human...to judge among the brethren. Like we read in Acts 13.

So let people play church...but there is a real and living and fearsome God.

OK - Now that we know theologians can confuse themselves and others, let's get back to my question which you did not address.

And that's the feebleness of modern theology that has been adapted to what is already achievable without God in any way shape or form.
Please elaborate on how you came to this conclusion - thank you
