I would like to know more about the new nature that God gave us. The verse in question is from 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV...

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Anybody have detailed data on this from working the Word?

I'm not looking for opinions on this subject based on how one might feel at the moment.

Galatians 2:20 KJV
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Ephesians 4:20-24 KJV
20) But ye have not so learned Christ;
21) If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22) That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23) And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24) And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Ephesians 2:4-6 KJV
4) But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5) Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved)
6) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

We've been recreated after God's own pattern, in righteousness and true holiness. This is accomplished by God joining His Spirit to ours, producing in us a new life. That life is a differnet sort of life, and we are in the position of having to deal with the old life, "put off the old man", while apprehending the new life, "put on the new man".

The new nature is like Jesus, and He is alive in us, transforming us to be like Him, as He trains us to live according to our new nature.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 KJV
17) Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18) But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Living according to our new nature looks like this:

Galatians 5:22-24 KJV
22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23) Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24) And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

And this:

2 Peter 1:5-8 KJV
5) And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6) And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7) And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8) For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And this:

1 Peter 1:3-8 KJV
3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4) To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5) Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6) Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7) That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8) Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

There is much that can be said on this topic, and I'll be happy to pursue it with you!

Much love!

The New Man - Newness of Life

Christians are called, and ordained by God to put off the old man and to walk in newness of life. To be a child of obedience, not a child of disobedience. The wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience. (Colossians 3:5,6)

Here’s a few scriptural truths to consider that the OSAS peoples either don’t want to talk about, try to explain away, or will come up with some excuse to claim these scriptures aren’t for Christians today.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

It's not a matter of trying to earn salvation thru good works... It's a matter of being obedient verses being disobedient!

Those that accept the calling of the Lord and become new creatures in Christ Jesus abiding in Him doing good works by the power of the Holy Spirit within as the Lord leads... these are true children of God.

Those claiming to be saved not walking in obedience have rejected the ordination and calling of the Lord and are the children of disobedience who refuse to put on the new man and walk in newness of life to stop being servants of sin...

Colossians 3:5-9
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Ephesians 4:24
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Romans 13:14
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Hebrews 9:14
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Romans 6:4-6
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Colossians 3:5,6
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

As these scripture references indicate, those not accepting the calling of the Lord to be led by the Holy Ghost into walking after the new man are in disobedience... which will NOT end well for them unless they repent of their sin and get with the Lord's game plan!

You do realize the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience. (Colossians 3:5,6) is referring to those who are not Christian... right?

Yes, and those that are Christians... who back slide and start living in opposition to the Lord... His wrath comes upon them as well because they will be counted along with the children of disobedience because... of their disobedience.

In our dark day we see many claiming that Christians can live in disobedience and it's all good.

No, it's NOT all good as God is not mocked, we reap what we sow... if we sow to the flesh we shall of the flesh reap corruption (Gal 6:7,8) and corruption is no longer being in right standing with the Lord.

Romans 8:13
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

There's many that see the Bible the way you do. In fact, most and I know it's because the preachers teach it that way. I'm as righteous as God and therefore cannot be considered corrupt.

Then you'd better not start being led by the flesh which is doing sinful behavior.

Once someone engages in sin... they are not longer in right standing with God.

To say otherwise is to mock God according to Gal 6:7,8

Once someone engages in sin... they must confess and forsake their sin in order to have mercy and be cleansed from all unrighteousness. (Proverbs 28:13, 1 John 1:9)

Is there a verse that says my standing with God can be separated? Is it tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness? Could it be principalities, or powers, or things present, or things to come? What sin can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord? Most Christians still believe the spirit of Christ makes their flesh spiritual. And this is why they believe their sins are forgiven when they are born again up to that point, but must run to God to confess and repent their new sins every time they sin after becoming a Christian. The belief is that you will either be lost, or on your way to hell, or at the very least God will not fellowship with you, and He certainly will not answer your prayers if you are found with an unconfessed sin. Such a concept would mean everybody would be on their way to hell because there is not a person on this earth who does not have either a known or an unknown unconfessed sin. Now if this new sin just means the loss of a relationship with God, which would include unanswered prayers. Then God would not have a single person on this earth qualified to receive an answer to prayer or to be able to fellowship with Him.

Yes, Gal 6:7,8 for one... if you sow to the flesh (sin) you shall of the flesh reap corruption!

Those that become corrupt are no longer in right standing with the Lord meaning that have been separated from the Lord because in Him there is NO darkness.

1 John 3:6
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not

1 John 2:4
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1 John 1:6
if we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

Is it tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness? Could it be principalities, or powers, or things present, or things to come?

That is speaking of God's love... of course he still loves us if we sin.. but when we sin we become unrighteous.

If this were not true, then 1 John 1:9 would not be saying IF we confess our sins He shall cleans us of all unrighteousness

This is another way we know that when we sin, we have become unrighteous.

And it';s WHY the Lord warns us through out the New Testament against living in sin walking after the flesh... if we walk after the flesh we shall die (Romans 8:13) which is spiritual death, becoming unrighteous being separated from God just like what happened to Adam and Eve

This is written to Christians:

Romans 8:13
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Most Christians still believe the spirit of Christ makes their flesh spiritual.

Not when the person decides to use their body to do sin!

1 Thessalonians 4:4
That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

Romans 12:1,2
(see James 4:4 - whosoever will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God – WARNING!)
I declare to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your body a living sacrifice, Holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service....and be not conformed to this world (see James 4:4): but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (understanding, vision), that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1 Corinthians 6:19, 20
Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own....for you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

God's Word tells us to control our body!

if you are found with an unconfessed sin. Such a concept would mean everybody would be on their way to hell

And that would be their fault for engaging in sinful behavior and refusing to humble themselves before the Lord and turn away from their loving sin more than loving God!

2 Corinthians 6:17
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

God received those that come out of the world is is not living in uncleanliness (sin)

Now if this new sin just means the loss of a relationship with God, which would include unanswered prayers. Then God would not have a single person on this earth qualified to receive an answer to prayer or to be able to fellowship with Him.

Not true... God has a remnant of faith people that detest sin and does not engage in sinful behavior.

Those that become lukewarm thinking it's all good as long as we don't sin all the time... are deceived by the devil and are mocking God whether they know it or not. If we sow to the flesh (sin), we SHALL reap corruption

Hebrews 3:13
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Oh Geezzzz... I just realized we are conversing on my post. Oh good Lord, this is just the opposite from what I'm looking for. I'm trying to learn more about how to walk "in him" which is a lost art (I think) because of Christians having no idea what it is.

I see this 1 John chapter 1 and 2 as we are either walking in our old dead nature if we are into sin. Or we are walking in the spirit if we are not into sin.

Chapter 1
6 "If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:"

6. Not in him because we are either not saved or have not put on the new man.

7 "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

7. In him because we are saved and have put on the new man.

8 "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

8. Not in him because we are either not saved or have not put on the new man.

9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

9. In him because we are saved and have put on the new man.

10 "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."

10. Not in him because we are either not saved or have not put on the new man.

Chapter 2
1 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:"

1. Not in him because we are either not saved or have not put on the new man.

2 "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."

2. Not in him because we are either not saved or have not put on the new man.

3 "And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments."

3. In him because we are saved and have put on the new man.

4 "He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."

4. Not in him because we are either not saved or have not put on the new man.

5 "But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him."

5. In him because we are saved and have put on the new man.

6 "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked."

6. In him because we are saved and have put on the new man.

The last verse I'm going to mention has "in him" again. From 1 John we read "that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin." We cannot sin in him because there's no sin in him and this is why "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."

We cannot sin in him because there's no sin in him and this is why "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin

OK, so maybe the devil some how slipped in 1 John 1:9? clueless-scratching.gif

It's a fallacy to say once a person becomes born again... it's literally impossible for them to ever sin again

All kinds of stuff in the New Testament that proves this point... here's a few.... written to Christians!

1 Corinthians 15:34
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

If it were not possible for Christians to ever sin
again, this verse would not be in God's Word.

1 John 2:1
I write these things unto you, that ye sin not

If it were not possible for Christians to ever sin
again, this verse would not be in God's Word.

1 John 1:6
if we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

If it were not possible for Christians to ever sin
again, this verse would not be in God's Word.

Galatians 6:1
Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.

If it were not possible for Christians to ever sin
again, this verse would not be in God's Word.

James 5:19,20
Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

If it were not possible for Christians to ever sin
again, this verse would not be in God's Word.

What is the new nature?

Made (via the Power of God) wholly Righteous.

Sins 4-given.
Body accounted physically dead.
Body accounted spiritually prepared.
Body sanctified (set apart) to be raised holy
Soul restored back to very good, alive 4-ever
Spirit reborn (quickened), alive 4-ever.

Sanctified and Sealed unto the Lord God Almighty.

Worship, Praise, Glory, Blessing Unto the Lord God Almighty,

Eternal security, aka once saved always saved.... is not a legitimate biblical doctrine.

Those who believe it is are typically lukewarm and are the folks Jesus spews out of His Body. (Revelation 3:16-18)

Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

If it were not possible for Christians to ever sin
again, this verse would not be in God's Word.

You are trying to make Scripture APPLY to all people who call themselves or that others call Christians.
Many calling themselves “Christians”, hearing and learning and following…. ARE NOT “crucified with Christ, soul saved or spirit quickened”, or called “sons of God”.

Scripture teaches the Converted ‘IN’ Christ are they “born of God” and sin NO MORE.

Individuals should know which Scriptures apply to them, and which Scriptures do Not apply to them….and WHY.

Glory to God,

You do realize the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience. (Colossians 3:5,6) is referring to those who are not Christian... right?
Context answers everything, it seems,

Colossians 3:5-12
(5) Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
(6) For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
(7) In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
(8) But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
(9) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
(10) And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
(11) Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
(12) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

In the context, "the children of disobedience" are contrasted to "you" whom Paul is addressing, namely, those who have been raised with Christ, and are hid in Him.

You used to be one of the children of disobedience, and now you are not, so don't act like them, and if you are, stop, put that off, and put on the new man.

Much love!

Yes, and those that are Christians... who back slide and start living in opposition to the Lord... His wrath comes upon them as well because they will be counted along with the children of disobedience because... of their disobedience.
You seem to see salvation in Christ to be a weak thing, unable to save some, because of their continued bad behavior, but I suggest that anyone who thinks they are fully sanctified in this life fail to see themselves correctly, and/or have a light view of sin.

What I mean by that is, If you consider a list of sins and you compare yourself to that list, and approve of yourself, that doesn't mean you are justified. Consider whether you are walking in the Spirit at all times. In the posts I've read on this forum, I personally have not seen that there is anyone who always posts without fleshiness, which is sin. We are to be walking in the Spirit, not in flesh, and I'm sorry, but the fact is, everyone reveals themself, and I've not seen anyone who here do doesn't sometimes post that way.

So someone who thinks they've stopped all sinning, I'll say, look again! And just be humble, and not self-aggrandizing, and allow the Lord to lead you in meekness.

The point being, I guess that some people take upon themself to condemn others, failing realize or acknowledge that they do exactly the same thing, return at times to fleshiness. And that is hypocrisy. So we should not judge, even to say, you who are sinning, you will be lost, because you yourself do the very same thing.

Much love!

OK, so maybe the devil some how slipped in 1 John 1:9? View attachment 39934

Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

If it were not possible for Christians to ever sin
again, this verse would not be in God's Word.
1 John 3:6
Whosoever abideth "in him" sinneth not:

It's the "in him" that nobody seems to be able to understand. This whole thing functions "in him." It's in Christ and therefore in the new nature. It's not that we do not sin in our old man nature. It's that we do not sin in the new man that we are told to put on. The churches have destroyed this idea by teaching we put on the new man by following the teachings of Jesus as we walk in our flesh. So this is a lost art.

In the book of Colossians, we read "putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:" We did not put it off. It was the circumcision of Christ. Two verses later we read "together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;..." Again, it's "in him" or "with him." I also want to get the book of Hebrews in here where we see Christ offered himself once "for this he did once" and not like the high priest who offered up the sacrifice daily. The Lord Christ "after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;..."

Peter has the same mindset as Paul when he writes in 1 Peter "that we, being dead to sins,..." Peter goes on to say that Christ suffered once for sins so as to bring us to God, and so this is why the Scripture reads "being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" Again, the old man crucified and the new man put in its place. Peter again, "ceased from sin;..." Put that mindset on or as Peter writes "arm yourself likewise with the same mind:" Because he that has suffered in the flesh or was crucified in the flesh has put on the new man because the other one is dead. That new person "hath ceased from sin;..."

IF you believe it's literally impossible for a Christian to never sin after they get saved... the error is on your part.

There's warnings in God's Word written to Christians warning then to NOT sin.

If it were literally not possible for a Christians to sin, none of these warnings would be in God's Word.

Scripture teaches the Converted ‘IN’ Christ are they “born of God” and sin NO MORE.

Yes, we should not sin anymore... but YOU have sinned at least once after becoming a Christian. agree.gif

You seem to see salvation in Christ to be a weak thing

Another false assumption... once saved always saved is in fact false doctrine

we should not sin anymore... but YOU have sinned at least once after becoming a Christian agree.gif

1 John 3:6
Whosoever abideth "in him" sinneth not:

YOU have not abides in Christ 100% of the time since you have been born again.

Anyone who claims to have never sinned not even once since getting saved... needs to repent for lying!

No, we should not sin, and when we are abiding IN Christ we don't sin... but there's not one Christian ever in the history of Christianity that has lived literally perfect having not sinned or made any mistakes after getting born again.

Uh huh, and you have stepped out side of being "IN Him" and done a few sins and made a few mistakes after you got born again.

Everyone has... even those that lie and say they have literally been perfect after getting saved and have never made even one sin or one mistake after getting saved.
