The Poms are what Australians called the English, be they the people who originated from England or not, many of such people even full blood English do not look up to the Poms 100% mainly in regards to the Wars as they did not truly respect the way Australians were treated in the Wars and they did not look up to the Toffs and English Army totally. and they would not salute them. The Aussies just called them Pommy B-------. Maybe from the Welsh and Scots and Irish hatred of the English as well.
But myself growing up from the 60's all i heard was all of them being called Pommy B------- by Aussies but that could also be used as a term of endearment as well tho.

The UK tried to as well as it could to bring it's own people to Australia, as it's fitting that one would and create another UK founded on the same principles for sure, but it could not get enough from the UK to settle and many who came here wanted to go back home but they did not have the money to go back home.
Lots of Irish were sent to Australia.
And yes it was a dumping ground for criminals from the UK penal colony.

So the era's have changed over the times and one must take note regarding the era to truly have a handle on what one is on about regarding the peoples challenges in them times, but History is very lacking on reality of the era and people nowadays have a stupid outlook that is just so pathetic shallow that it's just getting portrayed from a point of view that is total rubbish and a 5yo perspective that is off with the pixies ! bagging our forefathers who built this Nation and who is bagging them, well the 5yo mentality is ! for They don't have a clue !

What I got out of my Ghan Train trip was that he was totally wrong. Australia is in fact the "Great south land of the unholy spirit," with the "dream time" stories all speaking of the serpent that the Aboriginals tell, who was responsible for the landscape and the "law" in which they could live.

In Australia there is lots of spiritual oppression that manifests itself in many forms. Sadly many "Christian" believe these "Dream time stories" and give silent assent to them and come under the oppressive power of the "serpent spirit" that has operated over Australia for many centuries that goes way back in time.

Ranting about the situation that we find ourselves in, is not the right way forward, but Holy Spirit led prayer is.

One of the stories that was told to us is that the "Elders" of the mob that lived in and in the Kakadu region had experienced what radiation poisoning did to the people in that area many years ago before the white man came. When women became pregnant they did not go into those areas at all because of the possible effect of their exposure to the radiation from the rocks in the ground in certain areas of Kakadu.

Did they understand fully what the cause and effect was from radiation poisoning? Probably. Did they need to have the so-called scientific understanding that we "white" people rely on today to make decisions with.

They had the nuance to respect the rocks and what the rocks were capable of doing and so they acted wisely with respect to those rocks.

Our dream journeys often take us out of comfort zones and in doing so we can learn from our experiences on vacation and grow in our wisdom.

England imprisoned people for even the smallest infractions, infractions like stealing bread because folks were so hungry. They shipped these people off to Australia to aid in its colonisation....and yes, Cooper Pedy has opals and in the past before air conditioning, living underground was a practical approach to dealing with the heat.....although some today still maintain the novelty.

A great holiday is one where you can grow in your relationship with God by pondering on the beauty that you can see whether it be forests of deserts, it is how your spirit responds that is really important.

On our recent Ghan trip, we went to a waterfall where people went swimming in the pool below the falls we were taken too, to visit. A few days later a 2.5 metre saltwater crocodile showed its displeasure that his new domain was being invaded by humans and so bit a man swimming to close to him.

The main food that the croc would have been eying off in that swimming pool would have been the young children swimming in the pool. They would have been the right size for it to eat.

The Ghan Rail trip was my wife's dream holiday to celebrate a special occasion for both of us.

My dream holiday is to do nothing exciting, so to speak, but to make the time to allow my mind to process the beauty of God's creation.

How we express that is different for each of us.

From what i gather from your post is that you have no real life experience with true Aboriginals in the sticks at all in fact. but that is the typical ignorance of most Australians and that is why we have all the problems because they are way too smug and get on their high horse dictating from a position that they know nothing truly about.

Look he was having issues ! but he was in a pickle and i could talk to him on issues that most white people would have a spack attack on mentioning but this bloke was fine with all that because he was not stupid as he knew where i was coming from.
The next 2 weeks i seen him again as my wife and i were walking into the Church car park and we talked again.

It's like talking to people who live on the Land and you have some city person with you and it's like they are way out of tune having no idea, but in contempt ! for they think they know it all and that the one on the land is not worthy of a city person and the city person has no true regard of anyone outside of their little plastic world, so when it comes to people out on the Land or True Aboriginals the city person is way out of their depths in fact.

I may ask others what they think be it what ever, even out on out back bush tracks riding miles for nowhere, but i always keep true to myself and do not go with the flow regarding their maybes, so it's like you lot do not know where you truly are at, but i will ride about a bit more and i will find my bearings on that point and then understand where i am. i have had people in the Defense force lost looking at their Sat map and i have had to say look do't worry about that crap, if i have lead them, but they like to plot the points. so if they come out they have something to go by.

I may ask others what they think be it what ever, even out on out back bush tracks riding miles for nowhere, but i always keep true to myself and do not go with the flow regarding their maybes, so it's like you lot do not know where you truly are at, but i will ride about a bit more and i will find my bearings on that point and then understand where i am. i have had people in the Defense force lost looking at their Sat map and i have had to say look do't worry about that crap, if i have lead them, but they like to plot the points. so if they come out they have something to go by.

The glass is where it's at regardless i have found.

Sadly most people look at all the other people as a plastic issue, because they are to shallow to bother to understand the reality's, so it's superficial subject that lacks depth and they are content with that, because ignorance is bliss.

They are interesting. Architecture, culture, alot have beautiful tropical scenery. Most have a way of life far removed from modern countries.

I visited Thailand, Japan, Indonesia (Java and Bali), Singapore, Malaysia including Island of Borneo, and Hong Kong.

One of my favorite vacations was when we as a family of boys and father took a sea plane trip up to Canada in the deep woods. We stayed in a cabin and fished for rainbow trout. The fish was so tasty that I just really enjoyed eating it and being in such a peaceful place.
