I was watching a PG-13 movie the other day and heard the swear word “G.. D…” several times (as well as other cursing). I twinged inside a little bit because personally I’m careful about the 3rd commandment “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain”, and avoid terms like OMG, etc. but it was a good movie so kept watching.

The next day I regretted not turning it off because I should put respect for the Lord’s name, and wholesome content, above my entertainment. I also thought about 2 Peter 2:7-8: “And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

I’ve decided to generally now avoid entertainment that might “vex my soul” but wanted to share and hear what other’s might think.

I stick to PG and PG-13 and occasionally watch rated R movies as long as it doesn't have sexual content or a lot of cuss words. I like to have a movie on in the background when I work on my projects. I'm not really concerned about content as I'm an adult and can discern false ideas. The nature of make believe nurtures a lot of false ideas for fictional programs. No big deal.

To recap, I turn it off if it's a supernatural demon based movie, I turn it off if it's a horror show. Sexual content gets turned off. A lot of swearing gets turned off too. I think that about covers it.

That said, I watch a lot of childrens movies as the content is more inline with Christian values. But I'm not really into animated movies. Which is what most childrens movies are these days.

i think it all depends on a persons convictions & what they are watching, for me i like rated G movies & family oreinted T.V. as much as i can find on T.V. the family oreinted channels are very few but the ones i find are good, i do watch Walker Texas Ranger and that is about as PG as i get, i also do have some shows on DVD that might be considered rated PG

I avoided horror films. Until the 2016 US elections and its implications made the real world more negative and disturbing than anything I could see on TV.

Since then, I went back and watched horror franchises that I avoided.

On some level it could be good to be reminded of how violence and brutality can rise in society. If I personally do not make an effort to be educated and informed. Supporting the wrong people and the wrong things can inevitably worsen circumstances for everyone.

While prospects of this concept may not be deemed "positive" or "uplifting". I think it is healthy to realize the power individual choice has, the power of free will. Which God gave us.

If we personally make bad choices, we can wind up living inside a horror film of our own making. If watching a horror movie on TV can remind me of this, which in turn can help motivate me to make better choices. Maybe it can be a positive thing.

I sometimes sit down to watch an interesting-sounding film or TV show but then switch off if swear words or filth start popping up in it.
If everybody did that the ratings would plummet and the TV executives would soon get the message.
Likewise advertisers wouldn't like people switching off and missing their ads in the ad breaks, and the result would be a general 'forced cleaning up' of films and TV shows..:)

I am starting to think I can only watch movies made in the 50's
A big upheaval is happening in the movie industry. Many actors are leaving Hallmark for Great American Family where values focus on “normal marriage” relationships, along with values that bring people closer to God and each other. I recently watched an inspiring Christmas movie “The Greatest Gift” about a zealous Christian who lost her faith after her husband died.

More great news this week: Well known Christian author (well known to women) Karen Kingsbury is now going into the movie business producing Christian movies.

Catering to the lowest elements of society, a minority, while throwing trash into the face of “normal” moral people has backfired, and companies like Hallmark and Disney are faced with making choices that will favour their future success!

I use IMDB parent's guide, it tells me about all the unchristian behavior in a movie.

That's like me. I know what triggers me, so I stay away from it. Sometimes I'll be surprised by the content of a movie, but when it crosses the line, I'm done.

Much love!

Another thing- here in Britain films and TV shows containing swearing are not aired til after 9 pm when most kids are in bed.
As a result, many shows are not seen by kids because they're full of swearing, even though they might be good entertaining shows in other respects.
For example the 'SAS Rogue Heroes' series was transmitted recently and would have been an excellent historical documentary available to millions of kids, but because of all the swearing it was transmitted after 9 pm.
Likewise Al Murray's 'Pub Landlord' stand-up comedy shows were hilarious but because he swore like a trooper in them, they were broadcast after 9 pm.
One day film and TV execs are going to realise that swearing is losing them younger viewers by the million and therefore the ratings and box-office takings are suffering..:)

And yet another thing- TV adverts are often vile so I make a point of boycotting any products or services etc from companies whose adverts are sickening, and if millions of people did that too, we'd hit them hard in the pocket..:)
For example, these stills from a Lloyds Bank ad shows a gay couple agreeing to get married-

and this ad by McCains Foods shows a gay couple kissing in front of their adopted child-

And here's another stomach-churner-

Hello and welcome T.E.S.!
It seems that everything has been infiltrated by the enemy. Even cartoons and especially these games. The other day I was playing a bowling game on my android and an ad pops up for another "game". It is a PORN game!!!! Unbelievable, and it seems in every direction we turn, we face the demons who continue to try to take us out. Really hard to find good Christian entertainment.
Satan is in everything, movies, games, CHURCH'S, politics, health"care", you name it, he is in it...making it harder to discern between good and evil.
I just wish that true Christians would make more of an effort to gather! And, not talking about an hour and a half on Sundays/Saturday's where everyone sits and looks at the back of heads, only to be dismissed to rush like the wind out the doors. There is no real fellowship in that, zip, zero.
"The love of many shall wax cold..." Boy oh boy, can I feel that! It's everywhere too...lost souls walking around like zombies, marching to the beat of the "world" and it's ways.
I hope you can find some good things to watch...Pureflix does have a few good, biblical movies.
God bless!

Ephesians 2:2-3
King James Version
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
