The book of Luke states that Jesus was born during the reign of Herod, when the first great census was taking place. This statement has been debunked by scholars and researchers who find it impossible because, although there was a great census conducted by Quirinius at around A.D. 6–7, it didn’t overlap with Herod’s reign. Herod had already been dead for nearly a decade by the time of the census. This puts Luke’s statement on the birth of Jesus in serious doubt.
