I usually am a fan of contemporary music but not so much on the Sunday morning service. It really depends on the service itself and how much music is played before the pastor gives his sermon. Some services only have a few songs while my church would have half a dozen from Praise to middle of the road and then a section where we get into some real awesome worship. I love the worship songs because it opens your heart brings you closer to the throne of God. JM2c

I'm not a fan of modern "gospel" music for the most part. Majority of it can't be called worship or praise music. I sense that much of it is not directed at God at all but at money making or becoming a "success" or both. JMO

Throwing in the name of Jesus every so often makes it a gospel song? Bogus! Tried to picture the disciples getting down but it never came into clear focus.

Scripture songs and old hymns are my favorites. This so called new gospel is right there with dance performances and other entertainment that by some vague means is supposed to have some connection to the Bible. Count me out!

I'll take songs such as this...

How about Charlie Daniels?
He had Gospels albums of the year in 1996 and 1997.
Then he had Gospel song of the year in 1997.
This is it.

I don't quite comprehend where this bias came from....many cultures only HAVE drums, to worship God with, along with their voices.....it is your heart God sees, when you listen to the words and make them your own toward God....I have seen even in the Bible where God tells them to 'Beat your drums...Blow your trumpets' etc, and make a joyful NOISE to The Lord...If you are praising and worshiping Him, what does the music matter ?

Jesus said :" Love others as I have loved you" and (paraphrased) He made it clear, that this was the way to reach people.....Too many are not doing that...Hence the problems of the world churches..

I was in a church bookstore a long time ago when I was a Southern Baptist, strict right wing conservative , a member of the Moral Majority, hard line.
In the same building was a Christian pre-school.
As I'm looking at the books, we all heard this loud noise coming down the hallway.
Then we saw it was all the children, each one had a different instrument
The teacher saw us and said "We're all marching for Jesus"
It was the most beautiful thing
It really touched my heart and softened me up a little bit
