I say the beast is a hypocrite Christian, and the Mother of many harlots is the source for all false doctrine in Christianity that sits atop all such beasts.
I don't believe the nations get involved, until after the resurrection of the church, and then they see them ascend to meet the Lord in the air, and in their anger of being left behind (Rev 11:18), they gather together and actually try to fight the Lord and His armies. (Rev 16:14)
That is when He smites the nations to begin His reign on earth over survivors.
But, you are correct about God putting it into their hearts, and so that answers one question: their relationship began friendly enough and changed for the worse.
So, why does God put it in their hearts? God also is sending strong delusion to the hypocrites at the same time.
If the ministerial interpretation has truth to it, then it could be the deluded hypocrites casting off any semblance of Christian ministry, but was just business.
Beasts many times symbolize governments in the Bible, including this case Rob. We will both agree that both are satanic, not of God, so that helps greatly in the identity. When speaking of satans world, it will be in one of 3 categories and all three are mentioned in this topic. It will either be political, religious, or commercial. It is explained fairly easily to see: (Revelation 17:7) . . .the angel said to me: “Why is it that you were amazed? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the wild beast that is carrying her and that has the seven heads and the ten horns
(Revelation 17:12) . . .“The ten horns that you saw mean ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but they do receive authority as kings for one hour with the wild beast.
With just a little insight we can see that the beast is made up of Kings, on in other words political authorities. She was riding the beast, and being a prostitute, was committing fornication with them, or in other words in bed with them so to speak, do you observe that with many of the larger faiths today who are supposed to be no part of the world? (Revelation 18:3) . . .the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth became rich owing to the power of her shameless luxury.”
As you can see the commercial aspect comes into play as well with the harlot, you are aware of the term black friday, are you aware of the meaning? Is it not because of the christmas holy day that the merchants are able to put themselves into the black? That is what is indicated.
