Rational people will never accept that there is a God that reconstructs dead people ready for judgement, it's ludicrous.
I don't find the concept that God resurrects dead people to be irrational at all. I have already accepted the testimony of those who say they saw the resurrected Jesus.

@Mancunian

If morality is subjective, then why is it wrong for the state to execute otherwise healthy people who might suffer from mental illness? Or literally any other reason it can think of?

If it did decide to dispose of the mentally ill, or people it otherwise deems unfit for society, how can you call it evil when you can't even define what good and evil is? These are words reserved for an objective system where they have real weight. In a subjective system, the words are arbitrary, and individual actions are relative and highly malleable.

Because it's wrong/immoral for the state to dispose of anyone against their will, and right/moral for the state to allow the individual to have the choice to end their own suffering.
It's not rocket science.

Good.... Practices that benefit the individual or society and are socially acceptable.

Bad.... Practices that don't benefit the individual or society and are not socially acceptable.

If somebody chooses to end their own suffering legally, what impact does that have on you? Why not mind your own business and give them the freedom to choose?

I know. If you desire to study cosmology and speculate about the origin of the empty space and energy that became the Big Bang, it's a noble cause. I wish you the best.
I don't subscribe to the big bang.
I'm quite prepared to admit that I don't know how the universe came into existence, but I'm not prepared to accept any old explanation without sufficient evidence.

You can know things and not know things at the same time.
Example.... I don't know how many stars there are in the universe, but I know it's more than sixty.

I don't know how the universe came into existence, but I know that your version of God didn't create it.

Every single person that has ever lived? Or maybe just the one's from the last 2000 years or so?
That's a lot of resurrections, not to mention that after that he's got to meet all of them face to face and deliver his verdicts.
On top of that remember each and every one of those people's thoughts and actions....
Wow, his head must be spinning.

Anyway....
Plenty of countries and over a dozen states in the US allow assisted dying, the safeguards that have been implemented across the board have insured the wishes of the terminally I'll have been respected.

I will always remember my father's illness being long and particularly painful, he was sent home to die in pain.
I can remember him saying "they wouldn't treat a dog like this" and that he wished his time was over. He died several weeks later.

I'm sure that if assisted dying was available back then, he would have chosen to take the assistance.

The world isn't so black and white. For example, you may find yourself in a situation where you're forced to sacrifice the few for the many.

If somebody chooses to end their own suffering legally, what impact does that have on you? Why not mind your own business and give them the freedom to choose?
I do mind my own business. I'm not out there trying to stop them. But you created this thread and you asked for input.

No, it's not because I don't like it, it's because
disposing of people for no apparent reason is wrong.
Yes, we have been in the position where the few have been sacrificed for the greater good, that's why I said it would need to benefit society and be socially acceptable, otherwise we wouldn't have the armed forces for example.

I'm not saying mind your own business in this thread, I'm grateful for your input... I'm saying that if someone needs medical help to end their own life it should be available to them without outside interference.

I'm not in any way suggesting that it should be a free for all, I'm in favour of a well regulated system that gives individuals in certain cases a choice.

“Until God is pleased to save an individual, he or she is going to behave like an unbeliever, and it is wrong for us, meanwhile, to treat him contemptuously for acting according to his nature. On the contrary, Romans 12:18 encourages us, ‘If it is possible, as much as it depends on you, live peaceably with all men.’”

(John MacArthur, Why Government Can’t Save You, p. 134)

A good and timely reminder concerning how believers should respond to non-believers.

I believe you’re telling me the truth. That will change the nature of my replies to you.
You're not cherry picking are you Mathias?
Your replies won't change.
Try replying to my posts honestly.... I'm not interested in what Jesus and the apostles thought. I'm interested in what you think.

You're avoiding the question.

I asked you what you would consider as proof. Why can't you if you're so sure of yourself?
I'm not posing a question. I'm simply asking you to provide evidence for your position... If you can't do that then so be it.

Who is writing the texts coming from @Mancunian? An organic robot? What exactly is your mind/spirit/soul?
It's my brain that will die eventually.
I don't believe that we have a spirit or soul.

The mind is a bunch of experiences, the mind is a funny thing that is influenced by lived experience, and is what makes us who we are.

I think what Jesus and the apostles thought. You’re not interested in what we think, and I’m okay with that. I just have to remember your frame.
