Of course a person can fashion their lives so that they never hear about what is written in the word.

But for those of us who go to church and read our Bibles, the word of God acts as a sharpened, two-edged sword and it does indeed enforce obedience.
This may help. Mungo is Catholic.

In the Catholic church, Sola Scriptura, Scripture Alone, is Anathema!

"Anathrma- noun, plural a·nath·e·mas. a person or thing detested or loathed: That subject is anathema to him. a person or thing accursed or consigned to damnation or destruction. a formal ecclesiastical curse involving excommunication."

As decreed by The Council of Trent. There are actually 151 Anathemas, per the council's decree.

Reading the Bible or hearing it read is edifying but it doesn't give you authority.
It is that false notion that the "reformers" introduced that has lead to 40,000+ denominations, sects and one pastor churches all proclaiming "their" truth in contradiction to each other.

I don't find that the "40,000+" denominations teach in contradiction to one another. I also think that that is an exaggerated number.

The reality is that all of these "denominations" are unified in the essential doctrines and may only differ as concerning non-essentials; such as style of worship, whether it be liturgical or casual; whether there is dancing or whether everyone tends to sit down during worship. These are things that are not affected by the Bible for the most part.

But as concerning doctrine, I find that there is unity among those who hold the kjv to be the inspired and inerrant word of God. There is not much differentiation among those of this type, as concerning what they teach as being the teaching of God's word.

And, if there is any kind of dispute, I find that among those who believe that the Bible is the word of God, the dispute can be easily settled if both parties take the word of the Lord as it is and submit to the teaching of the word, as it is.

It is when one of the parties in question denies the teaching of God's word, that there may be a dispute that is unsettled so that there is not unity between churches. For example, one church may go more on experience, as concerning the teaching of 1 John 3:9, than on taking the word at face value and judging our own experience on what the word says, in that instance.

This is false. An anathema in the Catholic Church is not a curse nor does the catholic Church consign anyone to damnation.

It was a formal excommunication by the Pope. I say was because it has been abolished. It was very seldom used.
The Latin phrase anathema sit used in the decrees of the Council are a form of words that express the seriousness of a formal statement of belief.

BTW - Sola Scriptura is non-Biblical.

Source? "I say was because it has been abolished. It was very seldom used."

Please provide proof the Sola anathemas as decreed by the council of Trent have been repealed.(abolished)

The 5 Solas decreed Anathema by the Council of Trent:
Sola Scriptural - "scripture alone".
Repealed by God himself: (all Cost Sola anathemas were repealed by God's word before Cost conveined)
2Timothy 3:16.

Sola Fide "Faith Alone". Pick a verse, any verse, that tells us we are saved by God's grace through faith alone. Not works, that anyone may boast.

Which then brings us to Sola Gratia, Grace Alone. Repealed. See above.

Solus Christy's "Christ Alone" (Anathema!)
Psalm 86:10 - For You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God.
And of course we are saved through faith in Christ alone.

This is the last of the Sola Anathemas. The beginning and the end of the other four really, because it is the most aggregious.
Soli Deo Gloria "Glory to God Alone".
An ANATHEMA! Per Council of Trent. (Anathema -Solemn condemnation, of biblical origin, used by the Church to declare that some position or teaching contradicts Catholic faith and doctrine. Source:Dictionary : ANATHEMA. )

Please provide evidence of these 5 Solas especially, and all others decreed by CoT having been abolished by order of the Pope. Thank you.

I didn't say the decrees have been abolished. I said anathemas have been abolished.

You're attempting to impart a distinction that does not exist.
"However, the decrees of the Council of Trent are very clear and are accompanied by the word anathema for even further clarity."
The Anathemas Of The Council Of Trent

Let's go with your wording. Please prove the anathemas have been abolished by Papal decree.

What is the will of GOD . THAT YE BELIEVE ON THE ONE WHOM HE DID SEND .
JESUS CHRIST .
Let all that has breath , arise , stand , leap up and praise the glorious LORD .
But beware of one thing . Make sure the JESUS you came to , you love , you follow , IS THE BIBLICAL ONE .
Or as paul would say , ITS another jesus . and that one , WONT and DONT SAVE SQUAT .
MY JESUS said , BE HEARERS and DOERS . LETS FOLLOW that JESUS .
MY JESUS said Go ye into all nations , baptizing them in the name of the Father , Son and Holy Ghost
teaching them to OBSERVE AWWWLLLL , or ALL things i have taught you . NOW lets follow that JESUS .

The decrees themselves have not changed.

What's difficult to understand?

By grace those who truly love the Lord will have layers of layers built upon their skin .
Thick skin . Beleive me , with all the names i have been called i am long used to it .
Let me list a few . anti christ , son of perdition , hater , monster , i leave out the four letter ones or ones to that effect .
But i have learned and am still learning by grace , that whatever state i am in to simply be content .
to even rejoice when persecuted . Folks armour up and wear the JOY of the LORD UPON THOSE HEARTS .
for when our JOY is FROM HIM and IN HIM , when persecuted we can rejoice . Even in far worse persecutions than mere words .

Please explain that statement. I consider it as a personal attack on my integrity.
That's too bad. Because what I have been trying to get you to prove from the outset of your posting this statement, your post linked here:The Devil's work
You've consistently dodged. And now claim a personal attack on your integrity?
I'll refer you to your statement that I linked above and say quite simply and yet again, prove it!

I have dodged nothing.
What exactly do you want proved?

No. You made a statement about the decrees, the Anathemas, by the council of Trent being abolished.
This is why I quote people's posts when responding. It's all there for everyone to read.
Then I asked you to prove what you said. That isn't an attack on your faith.

That is a request to prove what you claimed about the decrees, anathemas, of the Council of Trent being abolished.
You cannot do this, obviously.
Therefore, your opinion is in error.

I.E it is not true the decrees ,anathemas, made by the "infallible" Council of Trent have been abolished, as you claimed. See link to your post for clarity.

That fact is also not an attack on your faith.

We're going to move on in this thread now.

Don't assault someone's faith. You could be reported due to someone taking exception through inference.

The idea that all the differences within Protestantism are merely over non-essentials is a Protestant myth.
The multitude of arguments on this and other Christian forums are not about non-essentials.

OSAS vs non OSAS
Faith alone vs faith +baptism
Trinitarian vs non-Trinitatian
Sacraments vs no Sacraments
What happens after death (soul sleep etc,)
and so on.

If anyone falls on the wrong side of any of these arguments and they are also an essential doctrine that is being argued, it should be clear that the person on the wrong side of the argument cannot be classified as a Protestant.

However, most of what you have mentioned above falls under the category of non-essentials.

That is a fact.
