Perception is a strange thing. When we see something, we aren't seeing all that exists in front of our eyes. When we hear, we aren't hearing all the sound entering our ears. Our senses only work in limited ranges but leave us with the illusion that we are totally aware of the world around us.
Even if our senses were capable of capturing all that other information, our brains have to process that information through the filter of our perception. We see a cloud that looks like a rabbit, but it's not a rabbit, it's just a cloud. We see a shadow in the dark that looks like a predator, and while it could be a predator, it could also be some bushes or other objects with the shape of a predator.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. 1 Corinthians 11-12
