It's one thing to argue with the legalists... but when you add the Catholics to that... it's a bad mix of venom.
This should not be allowed... Catholics have their own beliefs..... they have NO business antagonizing the protestants... and there would be NO issue if Catholic Doctrine would NOT be discussed with protestants... It's like water and oil... the two will never mix... they are NOT meant to...and
nothing good ever comes of it.
At least with protestant topics... everyone stands on the same level playing field... NOT so with the discussions on Catholicism.

It's IRONIC that the CATHOLIC CHURCH claims to have such RESPECT for the UNBORN... yet there are thousands upon thousands of cases of sexual abuse towards children that are ALIVE. This report below is from Spain... The abuse of children spans all over the world... It seems that whatever the Catholic church touches turns to abuse.
These priests' hands... are the very ones who apparently TURN the wafer into the body of Christ... and wine into the Blood of Christ... they are the same ones who HEAR confession... GIVE penance... and perform LAST RITES.
The church's answer to this horrific problem over the years... has been to MOVE these priests to DIFFERENT parishes so that they can start all over again with their cycle of abuse.
So please.... to all who choose to DEFEND this SICK church... that loves to sweep TRUTH under the rug.... UNDERSTAND that there are a growing number of CHRISTIANS who SEE and KNOW exactly what is going on here. This comforts me as I too have been abused by this institution.
In April 2021, the Spanish Catholic Church recognized, for the first time, 220 cases of child abuse perpetrated by Spanish priests since 2001.
Multidisciplinary project
The study was conducted from 2018 to 2021 by a group of professionals with solid research experience in the field of victimology. The project received funding from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and the EU. The framework of this project encompassed several studies assessing specific aspects of the situation in Spain.
The study included quantitative and qualitative research, concluding that males were the prime targets of abuse, although there was a specific gender perspective section on the invisibility of female victimization. It also found evidence of the deep, enduring harm suffered by victims, both with respect to the crime perpetrated against them and to the secondary victimization or added harm resulting from an institutional response that frequently tended to conceal, silence, confuse and, even, blame the victims. Likewise, the victims were often children and adolescents in situations already exacerbated by exclusion, social disadvantage or disability.
The study shows that the sexual abuse was mainly committed by priests who were aware that their victims had suffered before and that they were, thus, extremely vulnerable and lacked protection. This meant they could act with impunity.
"Research into how the Catholic Church reacted to the appearance of cases of abuse reveals a variety of different attitudes. The predominant attitude in many countries was one of defence, based on denial or minimizing the problem. When it proved impossible to deny the existence of abuse cases, the official response tended to present them as isolated cases or focus explanations on individual causes, attributing the abuse to the psychopathological traits of the abusers and ignoring the possible influence of environmental or structural causes," said Tamarit, the coordinator of the project and the principal investigator of the UOC's Criminal Justice System (VICRIM) research group.

Paul, the principal writer of the unsearchable reaches of Christ never once mentioned Peter’s special authority over the church.
If anything, if a case was to be made of an Apostle with special authority, it would be in favor of Paul. For Peter himself said:
"…even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood" (2 Peter 3:15-16)
You read too much into Matthew 16:18 or have just simply been taught erroneously by someone else regarding it.

Is it not presumptuous to assume that the Catholic Church is THE church that Christ founded?
The only real group of believers are those who are guided strictly by the Holy Spirit through the word of God, or taught by men who are strictly guided by the word of God through the Holy Spirit.
The true worshippers that God the Father seeks are these:
"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23-24)
Many men worship God in carnality so others can see them. But how many truly worship God in Spirit without an outward show in their private time alone?
How many meditate on the word of God constantly?
The word of God has been stolen away from the people through vain pedantic exercises; therefore the first instinct in many men upon hearing the word is to question what it says rather than accepting what it says and meditating on it.
It’s the same tactic from the garden of Eden: God gives a simple command, then comes the smooth talking theologian to give a flesh pleasing interpretation which causes disobedience of the commandment of God.

This was written before all the details of the faith in Christ were written. If you have the full volume of scriptures you can be taught by reading them.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
"Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:17)
The entire volume of God’s word is available to us. This was not the case back then. The synagogue and churches were the primary place were they were kept. Now the word is spread about and gone out into the world like never before:
"And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest." (Hebrews 8:11)
The “man of God” refers to an apostle
acts 8 the eunuch had scripture
God sent an apostle to instruct him
and how did the eunuch know about the need for baptism???

He had the book Isaiah (or portions of it).
He did not have any New Testament writings to reveal to him what the writings in Isaiah were about. This is why the man was sent to teach him.

If Peter was so “ hot” why did Jesus tell us to “ Follow Paul”
In Second Peter even Peter admitted that even though Paul was “ hard to understand “ sometimes, Paul’s words were the equal of anythingbto be found in Scripture.....
Peter was a great man, no doubt about it, but if you are a Gentile, you are better served to get your Doctrine from God's Messenger to the Gentiles —- PAUL ...

Yep. There are sinners in the Catholic Church. We are the first to admit that. Maybe I should leave the CC and join your holy church. But I can't tell if you are a Calvinist or a JW. Or maybe you don't have a church. Just another angry internet Christian, completely on your own, with nothing better to do but accuse, accuse, accuse.
No group wants to be identified by it's worst members. You're profiling. A type of religious racism. Blind to the good the CC does in the world. Despite the fact that there are sinners in the CC, she remains the largest charity in the world, providing free medical care, education, housing, food in 3rd world countries, it's a long list. You are jealous because your never-to-be-named "church" doesn't come close. All you can see is sin and evil. Accuse, accuse, accuse. Most of us know where that comes from.
