Those Two Commandments you mention about “ Loving God with ALL of your heart” and “Loving your neighbor as yourself ?” Nobody But Jesus ever did these two things.....You would be wise to see it, admit it and throw yourself upon the Grace Of God —- the ONLY thing that ever saved anybody that was saved.....Simply Believe Paul’s Gospel , given to him by Jesus, and you will be a recipient of that Grace.....

Rest in the Gospel .....That will get God’s Spirit in you.....Then you will Find Yourself Doing the things that please God—- Without Trying so hard.....God will Transform “ the inside of the cup” ...... any man can “ change” his behavior by “ turning over a New Leaf” —— only God can TRANSFORM the inside of a man and give him new desires....
I am not arguing where the transformation comes from. God empowers Christians to overcome sin. I am just saying that those who continue to live in sin, claiming faith or not, are going to spend eternity in hell unless they repent.

Are you going to pay with cash or check? Luke 13:1-5 "THERE were present at that season some that told him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay, but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwell in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay, but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."

There are many more places in the New Testament about the need for repentance, but this should suffice. You can send me the $1000.00, but I am willing to forget it if you will repent and stop teaching your false "faith plus nothing" doctrine. Not only will it lead you to hell, but it could lead others into the pit with you. I could certainly use the extra money, but your coming to true repentance is worth more.

Did you ever stop and think that when Jesus said “ repent” he did NOT say “ repent of your sins to be Saved” .....repenting Of Sins will not save......the word is not even IN the Gospel Of John , the Book we so often send Newbies to in order to find out about Salvation( John 3:16) .....the word is no part of 1 Cor 15:1-4—— Pauls recipe for Salvation, Given to Him by Jesus....

Jesus could have meant “ unless you CHANGE YOUR MIND ( Repent, literally from the Greek Word metanoia) and Believe In me —- THe ONLY thing that will Save Anybody”, btw.....or Jesus also could have meant by using the word “ repent” that these people needed to TURN ( another meaning of the Word “ Repent” ) to God.....that would be another way to get Saved....

Don’t hold you breath for the money....you STILL did not provide a verse that says “ Repent of sins to be Saved”.....once Saved, you WILL repent of sins.....it’s a result of Salvation ,not the Cause of it and with the Holy Spirit Inside Of you, you will actually have the POWER to do something about it.....

Repent of your Sins until the cows come home.....it’s a positive thing.....it just won’t save you unless Faith in The Blood Of Jesus Plus Nothing accompanies it....Two Things Save us.....#1 The Shed Blood Of Jesus and #2....Faith in #1......the Song you mindlessly sing in church all of the time actually has it right— “ Nothing But The Blood”

Here is a bonus verse about repentance. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." Acts 3:19

Sins are only “ blotted out” by putting your total Faith in Jesus to Save you... It’s you simply Believing the Gospel Of 1Cor15:1-4.....This is the “Repentance”that Jesus is referring to....
Notice Jesus did NOT say” repent OF SINS! “ Repentng Of Sins has NOTHING to do with Trusting Christ and THAT is How a man gets Saved....

To Repent means “to change your mind”.....Peter is telling the audience to change their minds about Jesus——go from an UNBELIEVER in Jesus to a BELIEVER in Jesus......THAT is wha separates the Saved from the Unsaved.... THAT is the “conversion”being spoken of....Your sins are “blotted out”the moment you “ BELIEVE IN THE ONE THAT HE SENT”—— that is what Jesus said when His Disciples asked Him to tell them what Was “The WILL Of The Father”.......Nothing was said about repentng from sins and Jesus had the Perfect opportunity to say it , if it were true.....

If you do not BELIEVE in the One that God sent.....REPENT! Change you mind about Jesus....start BELIEVING .....only THEN will you Sins be forgiven.....repent of you sins all you want.....it’s a positive thing.....it just won’t save anybody....Ask The KING of Repenters—- Judas...

What I keep hearing is one must Repent * OF SINS* in order to be Saved .Nobody here says specifically that Repentance “EARNS” Salvation.....they Just say that WITHOUT Repenting of Sins , WITHOUT including it as part if God's Plan of Salvation , you will be damned .....

I’m not sure how you guys define Repentance......if you mean it is “ sorrow and regret for sin” or if you mean it is a Promise to “ stop sinning” , neither types of thinking about it will Save a person....Repentance for Salvation is NOT included in Paul’s Gospel ( Simply Believe Jesus died for your sins and rose from the grave) .....we don’t TURN from Sin , we Turn TO God.....with FAITH! Faith in the Gospel —- PLUS NOTHING ! I am talking here strictly about SALVATION!

Adding Repentance or anything else to Paul’s Gospel Of Grace ( Given to Paul by Jesus personally) makes it an “Added To” and False, Perverted “ Gospel”.....Have you never read Galatians ? It’s how one “ Falls from Grace” at best and it can get you Damned by God at worst.....

If one does not Believe the Gospel Of 1Cor 15:1-4 and
later Changes his mind (/Repent) to actually Believe it......he has done all of the “ Repenting” that he ever need do—— FOR SALVATION! On the other side of Salvation , Repentance will become a natural part of your life.....Doing certain things “these” days —- things that never fazed me before , now make me feel like a rat....I have a sorrow and regret for sins ( a type of Repentance ) and try to “turn” from them.....another type of repentance that never GOT me Saved or KEEPS me Saved....Faith in the Shed Blood Of Jesus did that .....

And if they do not repent, then what?

God will Chastise them.....some Disobedient, unrepentant Fools need more “ persuasion” than others.....if they enjoy being taken to God’s “ Woodshed” , God will continue to take them there....they’ll wise up sooner or later.....God Promises to Chastise His Children....it’s for our own good....He chastises us if we get out of line just as we Chastise our own children when they are Disobedient.....it is an act of love whether done by God or us....

Lol.....here we go again.....for the umpteenth time....Forget the Blood.....forget God’s Grace....we are Saved by” Lucky Repentance”......

One could live a perfect life, yet bump his head , say S***, suffer a sudden heart- attack and die before he has a chance to Repent and wind up in Hell for Eternity.....He failed to have the “ Luck” that he needed to repent in time.....this type of silly, Bible- Ignorant Thinking never seems to go away .....I guess Grace is a mystery to those that never received it....what a shame....

He said 'live in sin':
...those who continue to live in sin...
You don't listen. You just hear what you want to hear. Your misrepresentation of what he said does not even remotely describe a person living in sin. The Bible says the person who purposely lives in sin is an unconverted, unchanged person. Progressive Christianity says that is not true and has ruined the church by bringing millions of unsaved, unconverted people into the church who think they are saved, and as a result of being unconverted they cast down obedience to God in the name of 'legalism'.

God's grace is a mystery to the person who remains unchanged and unconverted in his life of sin. If they had known the mystery of God's grace they'd know that God's grace teaches them to say 'no' to ungodliness. It does not teach a person to live unchanged in their sin.

"the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives" Titus 2:11-12

Ultimately, the person who isn't growing up in the lessons taught by grace isn't born again. The sign of the person who has received God's grace in salvation is their changed life. Progressive Christianity directly refutes that teaching in the Bible and says that is not true.

Why did you start out saying you understand that "nobody here says specifically that repentance 'EARNS' salvation", the turn right around and explain to us how repentance does not earn salvation?

What you don't understand is that to receive God's grace by faith apart from works and then purposely go back to your life of sin is unbelief. That's why the life of sin condemns a person no matter what they claim to believe. That has nothing to do with the necessity to add repentance to the gospel of salvation in order to earn salvation as you are sure we are saying.

As far as Salvation is concerned, the result will be the same as if he failed to rotate his tires when it was time to do so——- Nothing.
Salvation is a “ Gift”, remember? Your mind-set makes it a “ trade”—— It’s like God saying, “ Salvation is “ tit- for-tat”......give me your total repentance for all of your sins and I will give you Salvation.....that “ Salvation is a gift” thingy ? Get Real! We ALL know that would be too easy, and I want to make it hard....”

The only Repentance That is relevant to Salvation is the one where one TURNS to God ( True Salvation Repentance) as a Lost Sinner .....this will not happen until God, via His Holy Spirit, gives a man a Contrite Heart.....” Nobody comes to God lest the Spirit draw him” ....How does the Holy Spirit “ draw” men to God? With the Conviction Of Sin......

Just Repent like the Wicked Tax Collector did......His Heart had been convicted of his lost, sinful condition , and he did the only thing a man CAN do and MUST do......Repent! It looks like this —- “God have Mercy on me, a Sinner....”. THAT prayer to God , according to Jesus, got him Saved....

The word “ Repentance” has many meanings....”Turn from something” .....”sorrow for sin” .....”regret for sin” ....”change your mind”......All good things and all worthless for Salvation if they do not mean a Salvation That has you seeing yourself as a Lost Sinner who must TURN to the Savior, Jesus Christ in order to be Saved....It all falls neatly into place as it fulfills God’s Promise , “ TURN to me ( Repent) and I will TURN to you”—— God does NOT say “ Turn to me and stop all of your Sinning and I will Turn to you”........All YOU have to do is “ TURN”.....He will do the rest.....

Gospel Perverters are way too clever to come right out and use the word “ Earn” .....they are much more subtle than that....” You don’t ‘earn’ Salvation by Repenting Of all of your Sins , but you go to Hell if you don’t”.... What’s the difference ? It’s still “ Lucky Repentance” That Saves according to your False Doctrine......Grace does not exist in your world.....the only thing that saves anybody that has ever been saved.....and you reject it ......you turn something completely Unmerited into something that must be Earned by having a Super Memory and the Good Fortune to be sorry for and apologize for every Sin you commit....and then you top it off with a worthless vow to never do it again....it’s like “lather....rinse...repeat” , except it’s more like “ Sin ...Repent.....Work harder.....Fail.....repeat. “ No peace. No Joy . No Victory. What a dismal way to live.....welcome to Religion as opposed to Christianity.....Religion says “DO !” ..... Christianity says “ DONE !”

What you don't understand is that to receive God's grace by faith apart from works and then purposely go back to your life of sin is unbelief.

Where on Earth did you dig this up? Got any Chapter and Verse to prove this? Words actually * DO* have meanings......

“ Purposely going back to a life of Sin” is just what it says it is —- returning to a life of sin.....”Backsliding”, if you will......

“Unbelief” is a total lack of Faith.....not believing God exists or perhaps believing in His existence , but not Trusting Him to keep His Word......

I heard about a man in the Bible who “ purposely went back to sin” so severely, he had sex with his Step- Mother.....He was STILL a Believer ! He was STILL a Child Of God and that is why God saw to it that he was Chastised......God chastises His Children....If this man was not a Child Of God, God may have very well just left him alone.....

Tares exist throughout the church, throughout discussion groups and throughout Forum sites like “ Christianity Board”.....They are inevitable and as Jesus makes clear in Matt 13:24 , He has no intention of rooting them out until the Final Days.....they are such effective “ phony” Christians, it will take Angels to identify and sort them out .....it’s extremely difficult for men to do it....but try we must! We have to live with them for now, but we can avoid them and their attempts to “ shipwreck” our Faith If we can identify them.....it takes genuine Spiritual Maturity to do it.....Tares are EXPERTS at Faking it.....

Tares are essentially Religious Phonies.....They think they can be Saved by “ Aping” the Behavior Of a True Christian instead of possessing the New Heart That actually made that True Christian what he truly is now that he has been truly Saved by becoming a “ New Creation” with New Desires and New “ wants”......The Tare is all about “CHANGING” the outside of the cup—— things that HE can do , as opposed to letting God “ TRANSFORM” the inside of the cup—- something ONLY God can do.....they lack the Trust...they lack the Faith to “ let go and let God.” The so- called “ Christians” who are always going around pointing their self-Righteous fingers at others and always have that Judgmental Scowl on their faces? Those are usually your Tares....

A good example of a couple Of Tares would be Ananias and Sapphira.....they were religious fakes .....acting like they were generous like the genuine Believers .....in the end all they were doing was trying to impress others by being Deceptive about the money they had raised by selling their land....they claimed to give it all away like the others , but they secretly held back some of it and lied about it.....Tare Behavior....

Tares can pretend to be “ Righteous” , but a True Believer can always pick up on a certain unease, a certain clumsiness......the Tare always has an Air Of Superiority...their Hearts remain unchanged, their “ superiority” stems from a heart that is 100% legalistic in regard to everything it encounters.....they have no real “ soft spot” for others.....

Tares are not Believers.....all they can do is exist alongside True Believers and hide their true selves , giving lip- service to the Blood as they hypocritically sing songs like “ Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus” and pretending that they understand Grace, etc......anything to get along and fit in. Eventually however, their True Colors will show......they will hide behind their masks, but as True Believers , all we have to do is to look long enough and we will be able to see that “ Stinking Air Of Superiority” underneath the mask.....

The Tares are Legalists.....completely ignorant of Grace because God has not extended it to them because they see no need for it and never ask for it.....their works will get them by— they think....the Tare only wants to see outward changes in people ......he does not understand the Gospel Of Grace .....he doesn’t really care about getting people Saved.....he wants Power.....another Notch on his belt.....yes, it’s all about Power—- not Souls....

The Tare never presents an air of humility in regard to Personal Sins— they simply deny them .....they brag about their ability to live Sinless lives, and THAT, my friend, is the True Defining Trait Of The Full- Fledged Tare......that is when they truly come out of their “ hiding” and show their True selves and start attacking others .....they are now full- fledged “ Accusers Of The Brethren”.....We May be stuck with them until the Angels come and get them and drag them to Hell but at least as we identify them , we can now avoid them.....

Tares are not Believers.Understand that. They are Lost. They lack being “ Born Again” .....their hearts have never truly been made Contrite by the Conviction Of Sin That only the Holy Spirit can provide.....
It is a Contriteness that results from truly seeing their wretchedness before a Holy God.....seeing that without the Grace of God , They would be headed for a well- deserved Hell like a speeding bullet! The unregenerate man MUST come to God , TURN TO GOD ( True Salvation Repentance That Saves! ) as a Lost, Hopeless Sinner That MUST have a Savior to clean him up and make him “ Fit For Heaven” ......God will NOT Save those Trying to Earn Heaven......He will Save ALL that are simply TRUSTING to get to Heaven.....May God bless us all in the understanding of these things....
I agree. Tares are chatty and emotionally effusive, having lots of words with no material obedience to Jesus' true Spirit. They substitute their feelings for Spirit.

Because they know not God and His Majesty over all of Creation, and over all hearts, they claim it is possible to "let God" do things. But, this is never shown in Scripture. They think they know Jesus because He was human like them.

Thanks for these insights of yours.

There is no salvation without repentance.

"If we deliberately go on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins remains, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume all adversaries." Hebrews 10:26-27

Anyone who rejects Christ by deliberately going back to their old life is an unbeliever and will be condemned along with the enemies of God at the judgment. You are deceived if you think Grace is a license for you to go back to your old life and still be saved.

You keep ignoring what I showed you in the passage that he had to repent in order to be saved when Christ returns and that he was turned over to his sin in the hope he would repent. I showed you this but you keep ignoring it.

You don’t ‘earn’ Salvation by Repenting Of all of your Sins , but you go to Hell if you don’t”.... What’s the difference ?
Not repenting shows you do not believe. Unbelievers do not have the protection of Christ's blood to keep them from going to hell. They haven't placed their trust in it. And so they are condemned by their sin. That's the difference.
