The hair is the only physical evidence that God demands to make difference between man and woman.

Men are not to grow their hair long like a woman, and women are not get men's haircuts.

The dividing line is between hair covering the head (women) or not covering the head (men).

Should a woman wear a head covering? Sure, if she wants to. Personally, I find it attractive.
What I really like is when no one else can see, I get prostrate before my God.
There was a time when I looked down on those old-fashioned, religious people.
Trying to make God happy with them by doing external things.
I'm starting to see that I had it wrong, that they didn't do those things to make God happy with them, but since they knew God loved them so much, they were expressing what was inside their hearts.
But there must be times when some do try to please God by putting doilies on their heads or lying belly-down flat on the floor.
I guess as long as they're not trying to force it on others, then what they're trying to do is please God. :)
If they need a course correction, I'm sure He'll give it to them...if He so chooses.
He sees our hearts' motives and that's what He goes by. He says so in His word. 1 Samuel 16:7 :)

Love never fails...my friend. :)

There is the spirit of the word, but I don’t know the spirit of the law about head coverings. Sadly, I don’t think anyone will come in here who does. We always make it about the outside of our cup since we can’t see the spirit of it.

Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

We can preach that women uncovering their heads by cutting their hair to short is dishonoring God, who gave them hair for a covering.

And we can preach that men with long hair is a shame.

And so, women are not to cut their hair so short, that it no longer covers their head: a man's hair cut.

And men are not to grow their hair so long, that it covers their head like a woman:

And their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women. (Rev 9)

The hair of women is long enough to cover their head. These are men with women's hair: long hair.

What we don't preach is exactly at what point the hair is long enough to cover the head, and is to short to cover it.

That is to be left up to the individual believer.

God's people of a pure heart of faith will know the difference for themselves. We don't need great leaders telling us when our hair is long like a woman or short like a man.

If we really want someone to judge, ask a little child, because they have not yet learned to mix up reality with hidden agendas and complicated thinking. They just call it as they see it:

If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. (1 Cor 6)

Sometimes I cover my hair when I pray. Some say the hair was given as a covering. But my hair was short so I would get serious in prayer and put a covering over it.

I've heard the argument that Paul was referring to the male temple prostitutes who had their hair done up all puffy and feminine-like.
Does God contradict himself? What about Nazarites? Look to nature? Pride male lions? What about becoming all things to all people? I've concluded that hair is a physical external that neither makes one clean nor unclean. Then there's the matter of what constitutes long hair. I think it's mainly speaking of a cultural thing.
As far as dishonoring God goes, I think having an unloving, judgmental attitude towards someone instead of loving them where they're at is about as dishonoring as one can get. Seems to border on spiritual pride. But I don't know everything.
I like long hair on a woman, and to tell you the truth, I find the act of a woman displaying her submission to her husband by wearing a head covering an attractive thing. Just as long as it's not one of those ridiculous-looking doily things. Lol

Well, I'm sure she can pray if she loves the Lord....

Actually the context of 1 Corinthians 11 may be in public; although some women might like to apply the passage to private prayer as well.

Judging by the Scripture, the head covering is not for our sake but for the sake of the angels.

So when I cover my head, it's really not about hair length alone but angelic order.

I think it's good if a woman want to honor God in this way.

@Wynona: Well, it's good to have a sensitive conscience Godward.

But do you really think when your hair was shorter (whether as in the picture or not) your prayers were hindered because it was shorter?

I don't remember thinking my prayers were hindered. I just would cover my head with a scarf during prayer and still do. I just knew I wanted my hair longer because I think it looks better that way. I also don't want to look like Im a woman trying to be masculine, which I think is not from God.

Not trying to say short hair automatically means that person is trying to be masculine. I just have a personal conviction for longer hair.

The Corinthians teaching is that women should have some type of covering on their head in worship. Not just hair! The word for covering is different than the word for hair as a covering. And it is for married women. It shows their submission to godly authority (their husbands).

Just a point to ponder, if the covering is just hair and not a veil or some other type of material, then it is a shame for a man to cover his head- that means we men should all be bald!

You are expressing a preference... NOT a conviction. Conviction is with regards to sin and the heart.

That's true, since the only things you have to say here are what you think.

And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

But you certainly do know how to falsely judge others that give Scripture, for what they believe.

Tolerance is very loving to the world.

In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Scripture is not.
