@soul man Yes, a lot of Christian young ppl have seemingly discovered it's all about the conversation-starting joy of getting the message out from Scripture.

I believe that. Not all are going to stand behind a pulpit thank God :). You have to give what you have been given - freely you recieve. What is that?..freely give. I have learned through the years..it doesn't take much to give what you have received. Seems some have forgot all about what they recieved - and how. The living body in this world is a pulpit - the world is your pulpit! I say use it wisely.

What did we recieve - as the free gift of God? Him..the person of Christ in a human being..is the gift of God and the salvation of the human being (that believes.) What do we sell today as the gospel? Men doing something to be. You must do something to be a Christian. Heresy!

@soul man Indeed; and instead young ppl are really sending the message: "I want to go get inked up wholesomely at the parlor because: Look/know what the Lord did for me..."

Tattooing in our day is big, if you need or want a tattoo, that is what you should have written in the biggest boldest lettering you can get. Stare at it daily, study it daily, it never gets old. It is the only message you need that flows from scripture in full depth of understanding for anyone that will pick it up and want to know something about it.
I guess what you are saying is, If you indeed have something to witness about, Go for it boldly; get a parlor appt....

Imo the Lord honors simplicity. Though the gospel has a depth to it ..it is simple. Don't get to intellectual, though we are intellectual beings. Use the mind you have for the Lord's work. Co-laborers as portrayed in scripture.

@soul man I have talked to a young woman and a young man, each of whom got inked up on their wrist area / arm with the whole wording of John 3.16: I can well imagine that for each of them it was a strongly compelling experience to endure the discomfort in order by conviction to be tattooed boldly.

Seems like a lot of Christian young ppl - as girls become women and boys become men - find it by conviction to be a greatly rewarding experience to get inked up with Bible verses.

@Ziggy So does the parlor look like it's busy?

Hoping your father is doing okay now...
I didn't even notice. I only saw the sign. I'm assuming they are located between a large super market and a gas station.
I didn't see a building and traffic was kind of busy.
I'll be heading back that way in a few days. I'll check it out.
Dad is fine. I just picked him up this morning and he has been working my butt off all day.
Baught 2 big boxes of blueberries. Had to make boxes fill them with the blueberries.
Sounds easy, but the boxes weighed 35 pounds each, and sorted them into 12 smaller boxes.
Lot of standing. Then I had to pick up some groceries because he likes things I don't usually have on hand.
Go to city hall pay taxes. Stop by the girl that sells eggs and pick up 2 dozen. Check out this new road I never been on to find a newspaper.
Then make cheese omelet and english muffin for lunch. I'm only just now sitting since 7:30 am and it's 4:30 pm.
He's doing fine :)
I'm about to crash LOL

@Ziggy Glad he is doing okay and it sounds like he is keeping himself - and you!! - busy...Where do seniors get their energy from? :)

Feelings vary widely about ppl's own use of tattoo parlors - as per posts here - and people sometime change their minds, but anyway going to the tattoo parlor has so undeniably become such a deeply established custom.

I'm not sure how I personally feel about tats. I have a couple of pre-believer tats but since becoming a believer, I have not had the inclination to add more....even those that may give God the glory.

II was told it was addictive, but for me it was not. .. I don't regret it.. .. Probably 75% of the congregation have tattoos, including myself and the Pastor .. I have a tattoo, I am not ashamed of it, but it has no bearing on my salvation. ..I also agree that it makes a statement of freedom in Christ.

almost every young girl I know has some sort of tatoo.
Even those very conservative types. .. I was at the beach area the other day, and girls are full of tattoos. I never notices so many before

While thoughts and feelings vary among tattooees, one thing seems to remain really constant: the demand for tattoo parlor time; as @soul man says, above: 'Tattooing in our day is big'; and I don't see this changing any time soon; it's big.

I doubt the poor tattooists are doing much business at present.
@Naomi25 You are in the Southern Hemisphere, of course... Up here a while ago I saw a notice in the window of a tattoo parlor: "You need a tattoo"........(Well, they would say that, wouldn't they?? :) )

But, judging by some of the other posters, huge numbers of professing Christians think do similarly, anyway...

I passed a tattoo and piercing parlor.
@Ziggy You're right that a lot of tattoo parlors do piercings as well.

Some ppl with tattoos, however, never get into piercings; just the ink - and not necessarily a lot of it - and never piercings. Except of course for the ubiquitous ear piercing for most women (and quite a lot of men).

In a sense tattoos and piercings are separate. Apples and oranges, I guess. But they sometimes go together.

And probably those with multiple ear piercing (2 or 3 pairs) might be a bit more likely to get ink as well (?) Not sure...

The tattoo parlor I ventured into some 30 years ago was both tattoo and piercings.

@Ziggy Okay! ...though maybe you didn't get both...?

(On that occasion, anyway).

Actually from the parlor's perspective, it probably makes a lot of logical and business sense to have ppl with both those skillsets under the same roof.

Whether or not they use them on the same clients. Or on different ones.

I guess to them it makes a lot of sense.

Anyway...
