I tend to believe, men, like Calvin who begin with a notion, have people who agree, then some deviate, branch off, but the mans name remains connected, meaning the mans name continues to be connected to all sorts of things.

Mary is an example. Very little was taught about her in Scripture, yet men have exploited her so much, children being taught by Hearing, who do not read, could easily be brainwashed, (she is the sinless Messiah sent to save mankind, and be exalted in reference for her efforts.)

I don’t study Calvin, as a matter of fact, never heard of him, until joining this forum. Never have seen his name in Scripture, as someone to consider wondering what he believed.

To me the bottom line is, Did Calvin believe in “Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God”? I don’t know. Haven’t heard anyone proclaim that was his platform to preach. Same with the Pope. It’s more about disagreements and criticisms, of HOW men wield authority over others, without the BASIC Principle being centered on; Jesus IS the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

The Calvinist club, Catholic club, Baptist club....turned into yeah, or opposition by changing that into the Calvinist cult, Catholic cult, Baptism cult......then blah, blah, blah.

Personally, I am content with teachers and advisors IN Scripture, and don’t worry about what other men choose to follow.

quite honestly, you are missing out by not studying calvin. The man loved to write. Constantly it seems. But he was smart and understand discernment. You really should study him.

At last we have the right club! The Born-again Believers Club. But I'm still a little queasy about putting everyone into clubs and camps. Smacks too much of "us against them." As I was saying, Paul didn't take that approach. He wanted to see his brethren in Judaism get saved. I don't know that he would have ever started antagonistic conversations, either with or about them, with the words, "Little men love belonging to Clubs!"

Well someone here belongs to the club of wise owls, and it shows. Owls are amazing birds, so somewhere along the way people began to believe that owls were wise. Probably because of their excellent night vision. Getting back to clubbing, clubs can be either good or bad. It all depends on what their objectives are.

I lived in New Zealand until 5 years ago. We have a native owl there called the Ruru, or morepork. One flew into a friend's house not long ago...



As you would know, owls are night bird, nocturnal, so there's no concern about this night visitor. However, when one visits during the day, local superstition has it that such a visit means tragedy. And it brings fear for those who believe this.
I was out pig hunting with a friend of mine... He's Maori... And a Ruru came and sat on a branch right in front of us in the middle of the bush, forest. In the middle of the afternoon. My mate said immediately, something's wrong. We went home straight away, for him to learn that his mother's sister had just passed that afternoon.
Yep, owls are incredible creatures, and folk lore and superstition can grow around them, but they have their roots in real stories.
Just like the modern beliefs in the state of the dead.
Despite scripture saying categorically that God only is immortal, folk lore has it that man also lives forever. Based also on a true story, that Satan told a lie and started the religion of paganism. Even Israel was taken in by the lie, believing at times that certain of their number could communicate with the dead, because they believed the dead weren't actually dead.

My dad was six foot tall and he belonged to the Rotary club.

The Loyal and Protective Order of the Elks. It was a drinking club, but at least they had a swimming pool that we kids could use in the summer.

I believe some clubs are trying to serve noble purposes, such as raising money for worthy causes. I think Rotary does that.

You haven't been to all churches and can't simultaneously know what is going on in all churches, therefore you are in no place to make such a judgement.
