Oh I see, like for a rugged military man, done once, accomplished.

(I reckon ppl such as your niece would probably be more likely to have more ink added eventually to counter the effect of fading, anyway...)
Yes probably, she did it for decoration perhaps.

People who get Bible verses inked, also, would probably want them to remain legible.

My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 modestly tattooed around her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also and she would probably not want it to fade too much and she and others like her would probably plan on going back to the parlor occasionally to have it defined.

My tattoo is hidden. But people now days have them visible. We were advised to not get one that would show outside our uniforms.

It was as if the talk hosts were reading the discussions directly from this thread! I thought that was neat.

@Rudometkin

So did they actually mention Christianityboard as a source of their discussions that you heard on FM radio?

It's such a hugely sought after means of expressing what people really deeply feel and believe that at any given time good tattoo artists are likely well booked up with appointments from people patiently waiting to get inked up; in the case of Christians, often it's for something faith based that will likely be an effective tool or talking point in testimony.

tattoos ... everyone and their grandmothers has them now .. Pretty much every one I know, and that includes Christians and myself, have a tattoo so...I am not criticizing anybody here or anywhere...

My dear Dad had two tattoos but that was from his navy days.
I have noticed however that lots of young girls have them and what is really noticeable is a huge amount are women say around their sixties.

I really like some of them. .. it is becoming a norm with health professionals. ..I do like the idea of Christian based tattoos

It's probably fair to say also that it's also long been almost the norm for military men and women to be tattooed, right?

Someone was saying that most of her nursing team coworkers are tattooed. Perhaps among your former military circle, this would also be the case?

@Abigail

Thanks for the 'like'; and it sounds like your brother helped you really appreciate the potentials for faith based expression through inking.

Seems like as the business owner himself, he helped you become thoroughly comfortable in a tattoo parlor environment.

But can't a conservative get a different type of tattoo also?

Some demographics seem to have thoroughly taken to having it done, and I reckon that some of them would be pretty conservative.

More of the nurses that I work with have tattoos than do not. On my shift, only three don't have them (of 13 nurses).. I've had a few wives tell me of their husbands' tattoos after seeing mine.

For example, also, a lot of young Christians who have felt strongly compelled to get Bible verses inked in would probably be described as pretty conservative also.

Nope. Only some of us got tattoos. It was some not many.
@devin553344

Thanks for your input!

Seems also that today it's also military spouses that are a demographic that tends to be widely tattooed; I saw a quote from a military guy who said that his wife had been urged by other military wives to receive some ink; maybe this rings true with you also, or seems likely, at least?

Maybe this tendency wasn't particularly apparent to you in the military, then...?

Things have changed now. I'm watching movies and now days all the military in the movies have tattoos all over their arms and even necks.

@devin553344 I saw someplace a comment that the proportion of women in the military with tattoos is likely even higher than the proportion of men in the military with tattoos.

(I guess, the idea is, both fully engaged with the ink medium of expression, in the military. Seems it's at least informally what's expected to be done, right?)

It's the only one I have. It serves as a memory of an achievement I made back then. I don't think it wise to get more than one tattoo.
@devin553344

Well, these days at 18 or thereabouts the tattoo parlor appt. is what they do, it seems. Kind of a coming of age thing. Sometimes it's just one and then that's it.

So you think one only is better?

Too many tattoos ruins the image of the body.

...and they reach out to shake my hand they read my right wrist and get another message and compass direction in which to begin their journey.
@Abigail Different Christians pursue different testimony means, of course. So do you yourself as an inked up woman feel it's indeed for you indeed a fulfilling and wholesome Bible content-related means of witnessing that you can use maybe quite regularly?
