He is to be respected for although little is said about him after the nativity story he was the earthly father of Jesus and taught him the trade of a carpenter. So when God chose Mary he also chose Joseph.

Agreed. But if you're referring to the OP, why pray to Joseph instead of praying to God?

I never said I pray to Joseph - I certainly do not. But Joseph is almost forgotten apart from the story of the nativity and he had such a big part to play in the life of God's son. And I was just giving him some thought. @theefaith was talking about it being St Joseph's day tomorrow so I was being friendly.

Okay. I'm sorry I misunderstood. The OP says "St Joseph pray for us".

I agree with you about Joseph's role. He was Jesus' earthly father and in those times, the fathers raised the sons and taught them their crafts and to be responsible, caring men. IMHO he is not given the credit that he deserves.

St. Joseph is the savior of the savior! With the angel from God’s help!
Rescued from Herod!

Esther was human and able to communicate.

I would really like to know why if we have One Mediator, Christ Jesus, and if we can go boldly to the throne of grace, why in the world are you trying to pray through a saint??????

The saints cannot hear you. The are not everywhere, and not all knowing. God alone is. He hears everything.

Actually, according to Scripture, all believers are saints, i.e., sanctified by the blood of Christ. The idea that only certain dead people are "saints" is not only unscriptural, it's "creepy".

Personally, I pray to God, not to dead humans.
