9. Why did everyone die between Adam and Moses if sin was not counted during this period (Rom_5:13-14)?
Too many questions for me. I will answer one: There was no life after Adam and Eve sinned until Jesus brought Life. They were all dead!

"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" Gen 2:17

They did eat...

"And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat." Gen 3:6

And so they were dead. The offspring of the dead would also be dead. Jesus speaks of them here:

"But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead." Matt 8:22

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" John 10:10

Correction dear friend....you say

There was no life after Adam and Eve sinned until Jesus brought Life. They were all dead!

The above is not correct, there were many saints in the Old Covenant..Noah, Elijah, Abraham, Samson, etc, etc, who were saved in a biblical sense...and that was BEFORE Christ came.

6. Are we sinners because we sin, or do we sin because we are sinners?
8. Why does God hold me responsible for another man's sin who lived thousands of years ago (Rom_5:12-21)?
These two are related.
6. You sin because you are a sinner … you are only being true to your nature (thus the need for God to create in you a new nature).
8. He doesn’t. Adam’s sin makes you a sinner … we are “a chip off the old block” and “the apple didn’t fall far from the tree” and “like father, like son”. See #6. God holds you responsible for “rejecting so great a salvation” (see John 3:18 and vicinity).

Powerful verse....

Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Joh 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Yes, Life, real Life that is, comes by the Spirit of God. In any period of time, it does not come to unbelievers. Jesus came and opened the closed Door to "whosoever will"...

English is not my first language,
so yes, I have a problem communicating.
J.
I was speaking of the whole picture specifically as it relates to speaking about or addressing God's Truth.

Different human languages may be a problem, but often people who have the same first language do not communicate because they have different preconceived ideas going into a conversation which are not properly explained to the others in the conversation. This can and does cause misunderstanding. Two people may or may actually disagree on a point, but if they do not understand all that the other fellow is saying, how can they ever reconcile any real differences?

"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26

1. Define God's "righteousness."

Self-explanatory.

2. What is the theological distinction between "positional sanctification" and "progressive possession"?

Christ has forgiven our sins. It is no longer being held against us. That is the position we are in. What is "progressive" is our maturing via spiritual growth. As we grow, spiritually, we are better able to "overcome" our sinful tendencies, though they are still there.

3. Are we saved by grace or faith (cf. Eph_2:8-9)?

Both. We are saved by faith in Christ's work, which is a work of grace. He gives us God's righteousness, forgetting the sins that we have done and ignoring the sin nature that we still have. .

4. Why do Christians suffer?

2 reasons. 1) When we yield to our sinful inclinations, God punishes us, whether to correct us or to destroy the evil we do. 2) We live in a world of sinful people, and suffer, innocently, the consequences of this. In the same way, Christ was perfectly innocent and came into this sinful world, suffering from that.

5. Are we saved or being saved or will be saved?

We are saved when we embrace Christ's work of grace on behalf of the world, when we accept his gift of righteousness in place of our own selfish ways. The complete salvation of our bodies, souls, and spirits takes place at the resurrection of the righteous.

6. Are we sinners because we sin, or do we sin because we are sinners?

Both.

7. How are the terms "justified," "saved" and "reconciled" related in this chapter?

Eph 2? I should think words used in the same chapter are related! However, every time a word is used, its context must be considered. I don't have the word "justified" in my NIV. Perhaps you can point out the verses?

Eph 2.8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
16 and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.

"Salvation" here has to do with restoring us from the curse of sin and death, making us presently eligible for the full redemption to come. Presently, we live a life that evidences the basis of our Salvation, which is the gift of Christ's righteousness to us.

"Reconciliation," therefore, has to do with a restored relationship with God, as before the Fall. We are brought back to our original calling to live in the image and likeness of God, to enjoy eternal fellowship with Him.

8. Why does God hold me responsible for another man's sin who lived thousands of years ago (Rom_5:12-21)?

God created there to be consequences to human choices. God's original plan, though corrupted, cannot be destroyed. The game has to continue.

9. Why did everyone die between Adam and Moses if sin was not counted during this period (Rom_5:13-14)?

Sin was indeed counted. In context, Paul was arguing that Sin was not being counted on the record of Moses' Law, which distributed punishments upon Israel for failing to obey it. Paul's argument was that even though the punishment of sin was not being distributed under terms of the Law, it was still visited upon all of mankind, who were sinners by nature. All die. All suffer.

10. Are the terms "all" and "many" synonymous (Rom_5:18-19, Isa_53:6; Isa_53:11-12)?

Words mean what they mean *in context.*

As a Christian you should try asking the Lord about these things yourself. You may be surprised at how willing He is to give you some answers over time.

Some things cannot easily be understand except by experience. So I don't mind you asking. I didn't have many people to ask in my life, and have had to wait many years for some answers. Still, I don't know it all, obviously.

1. Define God's "righteousness."
Righteousness is right-doing. All righteousness belongs to God. He is the source of every right impulse.
2. What is the theological distinction between "positional sanctification" and "progressive possession"?
Theologians are like politics: They ruin everything.
3. Are we saved by grace or faith (cf. Eph_2:8-9)?
Both--By grace through faith. By the power of grace; through the conduit of faith ¿
4. Why do Christians suffer?
Because of sin
5. Are we saved or being saved or will be saved?
The concept of time is overrated. It is God's plaything.
6. Are we sinners because we sin, or do we sin because we are sinners?
Both and neither--the paradoxes are everywhere.
7. How are the terms "justified," "saved" and "reconciled" related in this chapter?
One term short of a chiasm ¿
8. Why does God hold me responsible for another man's sin who lived thousands of years ago (Rom_5:12-21)?
He doesn't. No man can atone for another man's sin.
9. Why did everyone die between Adam and Moses if sin was not counted during this period (Rom_5:13-14)?
Sin was counted during that period. The only law Adam and Eve knew before they sinned was 'don't eat of the tree...' They were given the formal law after sin. All of the Patriarchs knew it.
10. Are the terms "all" and "many" synonymous (Rom_5:18-19, Isa_53:6; Isa_53:11-12)?
Only if they're used to express the same thing

Guess I should be silent and let the scriptures speak for itself, after all..

How's this for communication?

#5. Saved from what? People tend to define salvation as being saved from eternal damnation, but awful things can happen to us right here in this life.
