OK I'll bite. God is eternally righteous. And His righteousness goes with His stature...which is many times greater than we can imagine.

2. What is the theological distinction between "positional sanctification" and "progressive possession"?

We are sanctified by being under the covering of Christ as His Body...corporately. We should never allow being corporately covered to be confused with being personally sanctified by entering INTO Christ to abide in Him. That is the difference between being in Christ and ABIDING in Christ. When we abide in Christ we do not sin. In Him is no sin. We can sin however when we are covered by Christ as a member of His Body since there are different stages of maturity in the Christian walk. The Laodiceans were spit out of Jesus' mouth, meaning they we part of His Body but were rejected, because they claimed to be holy while they were still sinful.


3. Are we saved by grace or faith (cf. Eph_2:8-9)?

Both...and also works, for basic righteousness. We are saved by either faith OR works for common righteousness (at the human level for basic salvation among the nations in the next age.....BUT we are only saved by grace through faith into holiness (to rule with Christ in the next age as the Bride of Christ). No one can work holiness (which is according to God's righteousness not ours)


4. Why do Christians suffer?

For training and in order to survive both physically and spiritually. Without physical pain we become lepers. Without soulish pain we become spiritual lepers.


5. Are we saved or being saved or will be saved?

Yes.

6. Are we sinners because we sin, or do we sin because we are sinners?


Both

7. How are the terms "justified," "saved" and "reconciled" related in this chapter?

Which chapter? Romans 5? We are justified by faith on a common righteousness level (equivalent to doing good works). And there is a deeper justification (personal) as we walk in resurrection life...the justification of life. Otherwise all three are the same.
God works with us on 2 levels since we are a duality of both bad and good. The outer man is meant for the cross (to take him out of the way in order to have access to God IN His holiness in the inner man.

We are born spiritually dead with a carnal covering that leads inevitably to sin. The covering that comes from Adam is due to a loss of the covering of God ....now inherited by us through the sin of Adam. God gave Adam a temporal carnal covering in this temporal world...which is only a simulation of eternal reality...so we could learn how to walk in God's holy presence without rebellion. We can sin here without immediately dying. We are given a lifetime to learn God's ways and walk in Him. The carnal covering (the outer man nature) is what we sacrifice to God to be a living sacrifice. Our animal covering (not our bodies but the carnal nature) is what we sacrifice just like the animal sacrifices of the OT.

The law of sin and death is like the law of gravity. Only when we walk in the power of Christ (grace) do we walk above sin...as a law...the way the law of flight overcomes the law of gravity (the law of sin and death) when we enter into an aircraft that is built with the law of flight in mind. When we enter INTO Christ (personally) we overcome the law of sin through the law of life IN Christ Jesus.

3. We are saved by grace thru faith, but without works faith is dead. Jesus taught that those without works end up in the lake of fire. So this is important to get the concept right. Without doing good works, Jesus might not offer his salvation. He said that some with faith that cast out demons he will tell that he never knew them. I don't follow OSAS either. I do good works that Jesus might have mercy on me, and out of fear of hell. And when I do good works he rewards me with Love, Joy and Peace. He shows me a family from Heaven that I want to be part of. To be a child of God. And a good brother to all the sisters and brothers out there. I both fear and love the Lord. He is almighty and powerful enough to create the mighty heavens and earth. Further more he is to be respected and honored.
