@Lambano Does anyone you know have a tongue stud?

I've known people who do have tongue studs; the lady who used to run the coffee shop at my previous employer comes immediately to mind. Really nice lady, but she and God only know where all she had piercings. She had plenty that were visible. :rolleyes: Tongue, nose, eyebrow...:eek: They looked good on her, actually. Ironically, I can't remember if she had an earring. The coffee shop was operated by a third-party vendor; my company at the time was pretty conservative and I doubt they would've hired her.

The EMT's who worked on me five years ago said they don't like tongue studs; they become problematic if they have to insert an airway.

Actually, although the ppl whom I would know better would have earrings, etc., the lady who served at my local Christian bookstore did have a tongue piercing.

(Kind of matter of fact trivia, I suppose....)

@Taken Thanks for the 'like' just now.

As regards tattoos, UnrulyBeauty is right when she says:

Tattoos have been "non-taboo" for a good 20 years or so. I think a lot of older people (and I'm not young to begin with lol) still think that tattoos are this grungy, rough, male trend. But that hasn't been the case for many, many years.
..I have several tattoos. I've never felt the slightest guilt over them..The last one I got was many, many years ago. I would love to get a few more before I'm old and wrinkly

In connection with military spouses, it's become a woman thing to do for so long now. Certainly it's something that's been done confidently and spontaneously for a long while.

So one can well understand Christian military spouses thinking that it can be a good opportunity for something faith based that will be an uncontroversial talking point.

The Sweet Lady got her first tattoo sometime after she recovered from breast cancer surgery. She would've been, lessee, in her late 50s then. Surviving cancer was a major inflection point in her spiritual life. It changed her. Her faith became stronger and she became more confident in talking about it. She got the butterfly tattoos as her talking points.
@Lambano So did it surprise you a bit when she first did it, to have those permanent talking points?

@Lambano I'm sure you yourself have thoroughly gotten accustomed to it now; but ... did your mother-in-law ever get accustomed to it? :)
My late mother-in-law, God rest her soul, was a classic Southern lady, and hearing some other folks' horror stories about their in-laws, I have to say I was very blessed to have her. She accepted her daughter's choice, though I don't think she liked it. And I think she would've been appalled to see the nose stud.

Me, after almost 40 years of marriage, I still enjoy looking at my wife's body, whether it has ink on it or not. :D

What I think about them doesn't matter!

I could burn John 3:16 into my lawn, but I might get locked up by the local authorities, even though the verse is sublimely beautiful! Perhaps I should just do it anyway since it might function as a witnessing tool or effective conversation-starters or even as a silent witness?!

Why do you care about what I think of the morality of tattoos?!

Cuz you responded to me and quoted an OT Scripture saying it is wrong. So as a brother I am asking your stance.

Well, as a brother, I'm telling you I don't remember that, and you're probably right about it, but I got to be a' movin' on from this sandbox. :D:p

Well that is sad. You post and create a stir and then not post why you spoke so against it. That is not the way we as believers are supposed to conduct ourselves.

@Lambano

To some extent they may be a generational thing.

Ink and nose studs are regarded widely as benign choices, even if in your MIL's earlier years they were less widespread, right?

@Taken Oh some things are not benign.

But others are benign.

There must be wisdom in seeing the difference.

Have to say, there are plenty of OLDER, especially females, who seem to think copying younger women, tatting...

@Taken

Maybe you saw shnarkle's post from a while ago?

shnarkle said:

One of the churches I go to has three quite elderly women, all widows, who recently went out and got themselves tattoos. .. There was no doubt they were all first tattoos. All three of them went out and got them together.

Often it depends on the design of the tattoo as to whether it can in some circumstances be edifying...
