It could be that some things have not been changed on paper ,while in reality and practice they have changed completely. A bit like the old laws that exists, but because society has change they are no longer applicable.Thanks. The reason I ask is because @Brakelite says otherwise. He claims the head of the church of England is in Rome but this is false from my understanding
No I recorded it. I've been watching the pageant mot of the day. It is Whit Sunday or Pentecost and the programme was from somewhere in Manchester. i will watch it later.@Pearl did you watch Songs of Praise this morning ?
I love the little devotional book that the Queen had to read leading up to the coronation.
love the song ‘ A mother’s heart ‘
Just about to watch the pageant through St James Park xx

I didn't say they were the same. I was talking about legal political and religious authority. It doesn't mean that the authority is exercised. If Catholicism and the Church of England are the same, I'm Mary Poppins!
For example Catholicism bans women priests, but the Church of England doesn't..:)

I can't listen to it as my speakers don't work. What is the gist of it?The reality of the Queen's Jubilee as viewed by a London journalist previously for the Midlands, Nottingham.
I tend to agree with his perspective and he calls it,
The Strange Jubilee
Paul says that the Jubilee was more like a wake and it commemorated what the UK, with the Queen at the helm, how it used to be, and now is gone. Minority Mayors raising the Iranian flag atop of city squares like in Lancashire and not the Union Jack. London filled for the half week with mostly white faces who show up to celebrate the event and ironically absent in the crowds are the illegal immigrants and other legal minorities who really don't care about the event. People more and more apologizing for being British or English....and it will be even more obvious in the 10 year celebration he says...that the event is meaningless...I can't listen to it as my speakers don't work. What is the gist of it?
What a shame, really sad.Paul says that the Jubilee was more like a wake and it commemorated what the UK, with the Queen at the helm, how it used to be, and now is gone. Minority Mayors raising the Iranian flag atop of city squares like in Lancashire and not the Union Jack. London filled for the half week with mostly white faces who show up to celebrate the event and ironically absent in the crowds are the illegal immigrants and other legal minorities who really don't care about the event. Quite cynical then.Paul says that the Jubilee was more like a wake and it commemorated what the UK, with the Queen at the helm, how it used to be, and now is gone. The Queen had no power to veto the Abortion Bill 1967.
Her vetoing power, by refusing royal assent, is only permitted by law in the rarest of circumstances such as a constitutional crisis.
It is true that the Queen meticulously keeps up with the business of Parliament so that, in theory, if there ever were a constitutional crisis, she would be ready and properly advised to act, if necessary.
The Queen usually signs Letters Patent which allow the Speakers of the two Houses to announce the royal assent. However, she signs them for a whole lot of bills in one go, and is only given a list of the names of the Bills, not the texts or even the long titles.
She thus does not know the details of the Bills she is "assenting" to and is not expected to. That is because the process of assent, save in the rarest of situations such as a constitutional crisis, is now not much more than a ceremonial ritual.
The Queen is not even given a copy of the Bills and neither is the Palace. That is not just because she knows that both Houses of Parliament will already have considered the Bill very carefully but rather because she has no power to veto any of the Bills, save in constitutional emergency.
I have never looked upon the Queen as being in charge, but she is part of the culture here and it’s something you can only really get if you live within this culture.Thank you Rita.
Veto Power, IF, Parliament says it’s okay.
Monarch Power, IF, Parliament says it’s okay.
Signs WHEN, Parliament says it’s okay.
Needs not to know the effects upon the peoplel of what she is signing.
A pretense fairytale figure head, with Strings attached.
Seems the English Subjects Like the manifested fairytale pomp and grandeur.
Thanks for sharing.

Its surely the same as me endeavouring to understand gun culture in the US, I don’t live there so I can only view things from an outside prospective. However sometimes the outside prospective sees something that might be missed because the citizen of that country has been brought up with something and just accepts it’s how it is. ……
I do get what you are saying, but most of the time I am not into all pomp and grandeur, but on this occasion I admit I liked it. It’s a bit like my attitude to football, I don’t really like it but if England are playing in a European cup or World Cup, I become patriotic along with many others.
I am going to have Sandy shaw song on my mind now ‘ Puppet on a string ‘! Lol

I'm not a particular fan of the wider royal family but our Queen has hardly ever put a foot wrong and most of us love her. And not just the older ones. Of course in any society there are the nay-sayers and stirrers up of trouble and dissent.@Rita @Pearl and any other poms
I never understood why you guys love the royal family so much. Iv seen poms get so angry at people criticizing the queen that they will fight over it. Well i watched something recently which i think helped me understand the fondness that British people have towards the royal family.
The guy talking on this video said it is about patriotism, the identity of being British in an age where its a crime to be white. And considering that immigration of other cultures has diluted the British culture i can understand your fondness for the royal family. It was also a great gathering, a celebration which was needed after 2 and a half years of this covid crap, everyone is fed up with that, right. So such a party is a welcome relief for you poms. We need something like that here to unite Aussies
I heard the woke left were triggered by all the union jacks in the parade. Well screw them.
Over here they wanted to dose the union jack in Aboriginal blood. They didn't but this is the kind of sick stuff they want to do. They want to eradicate western culture.
Australia day has been hyjacked over here, its now "invasion day". Total BS considering the Aboriginals sold this land to the English.
Western culture is being attacked from every angle. The British royal family is a symbol of that and of the rich history of Britain so i say good on you guys for sticking to your guns.
PS... Aussies will still beat you guys in cricket but...![]()
