And this is not a popular thing to say but satan uses these tactics THROUGH us and through our outer man to create chaos, confusion and bitterness. We need to not be unaware of his tactics or he will toss us around.
The seeking and finding, the asking and receiving is not done. There must be no stopping place, while time remains.

Saying we have already been saved and/or we have already received the gift of the Holy Spirit are not guarantees that we will also endure to end with Him.

God may have elevated us above our starting place, but while any of our allotted time remains, should we be burying what He has given us in the ground. How may we continue to move or be moved toward the Light?

It’s maddening by design. But if you know what the main goal of it is you can finally figure out what’s going on.
And I’m not a trinitarian but you don’t see those dismissive and childish things from me, so trinitarianism is not the problem here. Not the current one I am addressing anyway.

I didn't even notice you were a non-Trinitarian, LoL, so I guess that proves your point.

I really don't mind discussing subjects that relate to scripture, including that one. It's an opportunity to learn and grow. I just have a problem with the nastiness, and the attacks, and those evasive, dismissive, or ridiculous responses you get from people when things get going. These days, there are many threads I'd like to participate in, but I look and see who's involved in it and think, "Nope, not with that one. He'll get ugly with me within the space of one or two posts." So I get selective about who I can discuss things calmly with and who I can't, and after getting selective the choices get whittled down quite a bit, LoL.

I will say about Aunty Jane that she's generally a straight shooter. I just wish she didn't follow in that pattern of following thoughtful arguments with these insulting and dismissive things that many JWs tend to fall back on, by habit I suppose.

There is hope. From the head to the feet are wounds and bitter hurts but He wants to, and will, heal us, soundness of the mind and emotions and whole body and being is what He desires for us.
But in a war, there are tactics meant to take out communication, create confusion, chaos, anger and fear. So we need to not be ignorant of the war tactics because there absolutely is a war and we find ourselves in it. And to use the words of Zadai, if we think there’s no war, that’s just ignorance gone to seed.

"The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." Rom 13:12

"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints" Eph 6:13-18

..How can anyone say He is not God? It flummoxes me…

Well Jesus himself said he wasn't God, what do you make of that?-

"A certain ruler asked him, 'Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?'
'Why do you call me good?' Jesus answered, “No one is good except God alone" (Luke 18:19)

Jesus said - "Only God knows when Judgment Day will be, I don't know myself" (Mark 13:32)

Jesus said - "I say nothing of my own accord, i only say what my father tells me to say.." (John 12:49)

And even God himself said - "This is my beloved son, listen to him" (Matthew 17:5)

Question- If you'd been one of the disciples and Jesus asked you "Who do you think I am?", how would you answer him?

Yes, a weapon to beat the other servants with. It’s not of the Spirit. It’s not of our healing.

Glad you understood what I was saying Stunnedbygrace. Anyway sister, God bless you and may you be guided by the Holy Spirit by abiding in Christ to have love for God and love for others.

Having been a Christian now going on perhaps 7 years or maybe 6 years now, I have very little time for to argue with anyone and if they are wanting to be argumentative or try to spit my face as sometimes I see it, I just let them…

Thank you for sharing I’ll say, because … we all have one life to live… and we are to live that life always with God seeings how we react and what we say, and I believe he really desires us to be lead by the spirit primarily and the Bible is secondary and referential in which helps us to establish and reinforce our faith in the Son of God who died for us all, and if we die with with him, we are raised to newness of life by the new creation with in us.

Love to you and all others, thank you so much for understanding what I was saying, very thankful for that.

Boy howdy, indeed! You're taking my back to the times of my natural father gone from here 30 years. I never heard what men call cuss words come out of his mouth, but sometimes for emphasis, he would come out with a..."Boy howdy".

Give God the glory!

Yes, I know that about your dad, that’s why I said it. :)

If that was a response to my post, I just wish our warfare wasn't so often coming from within the church instead of from without it. :)
And from within ourselves...?

"From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?" James 4:1

Sometimes, yes : ) Although that passage has to do more with those who were warring with one another from a lust for power and privilege; you know, the "call me Rabbi" types, and the "honor me with the best seat in the house" types. Those were the "lusts" being referred to.

The problem I think for others is in simply needing to defend themselves so that they not be silenced, minimized or ignored. I'm building up a better mindset on how to deal with that lately - one that I noticed the apostle Paul used - but there are still some attacks that I honestly don't know how to deal with other than sternly, and sometimes with severity. If I may, Paul wasn't always the nicest guy either, LoL. :)

That these lusts of one man against another exist there is no doubt, but James speaking of doublemindedness in verse 8 can and does, I believe, apply to any believer who is still also at times yielding to the attractions of sin:

"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded" James 4:8

To say that one is more prevalent than the other is not for me to say. I can only work on my own problem with God's help or warn others as God gives me His Word to share...

Who among men has always been the nicest guy? Certainly not me! That 'old man' of me and his way has not been killed completely not yet... but there is still time and the Holy Spirit is still working. Surrender is the Way to overcome all of the world, is it not... surrender to God, that is?

"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded" James 4:8

The primary sin being discussed in James, however, is selfish ambition (James 3:14) in wanting to become a teacher (James 3:1). This is why so much attention in the letter is devoted to sins of the tongue. Thus, when he is saying "purify your hearts," what he is referring to is that they not lust after "the world," i.e. after positions of power and influence (James 4:4).

I do think other sins will be in tow among such individuals - they often are - I'm simply saying that's not the thrust of the letter.
Surrender is the Way to overcome all of the world, is it not... surrender to God, that is?

Yes, surrender to the Lord. There is a trial of fire that comes with serving Him. It burns away that which is not of Him. This does not guarantee that we will become a pillow cushion when that work is done, for even Jesus could be very forceful in His words with sinners sometimes. But what it does do if we submit to it is minimize how much the enemy can use us. Same goes for the flesh. All our "fleshly, soulish, and demonic" desires (James 3:15) get increasingly purged away, leaving only the desires of God to be obeyed.

Big talk coming from a monster, but at least I know what direction I'm supposed to be pointed in, LoL.
