It seems to me we have two jobs: First, we need to keep the Lord company so he doesn't get lonely. Second, we must refrain from sin so we don't hurt him. What do you think?

I doubt God gets lonely.

Sin doesn’t hurt God either.

“If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him? If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand? Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.” (Job 35:6-8)

I disagree on both accounts.

The spirit is grieved, but we cannot hurt God.

By the way, do you have any scripture to illuminate the discussion a little?
I know the Lord gets angry on numerous occasions. Wouldn't that suggest he has feelings? I can't prove scripturally that it's unwise to put my hand on a hot stove, but I'm not going to do it.

We have two great commandments to follow - love the Lord with all our hearts, minds, and souls, and love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:34-40). I'm pretty much saying the same thing, aren't I?
You're not embracing a Biblical definition of sin, Bob. What does 1 John 3:4 say when YOU read it?

Does it say that sin is the breaking of the two abbreviated Commandments? I'm betting there's not a Bible made that has that written in it.

A biblical definition of sin? God says don't commit adultery. If we commit adultery, we sin. God has several of those commandments.

Good point.

And God can be grieved.

“And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.” (Genesis 6:6)

But hurting God or God getting lonely? There isn’t any biblical example of this.

I believe the Lord has feelings.

Bob Estey, considering that God created man/woman in his image, and when he made them alive by blowing into Adam, he gave them of course a body, but also a soul (Mind/Will/Emotion), just like God has. When Jesus Christ came the second Adam, he was the image of the invisible God, and expressed (His Fathers) Mind/will/emotion as he lived on this earth.
