So now @Michiah-Imla, knowing the whole story about Lot do you think you chose the right scripture to support your rationale?

Using it as a weapon to destroy another person's faith is wrongly applying God's Word.

Faith is precisely what I was encouraging.

@farouk just ignored my faith exalting post which is why proceeded to use the word like Jesus did:

“…with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.” (Isaiah 11:3-4)

This is a great verse there.

(But at the time you seemed to be using it seemingly to argue that women should just let violent perverts do their worst to them.)

That scandalous scene included Lot offering his virgin daughters to appease the evil Sodomites (Genesis 13). What kind of father does that?

This kind:

“And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds; The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished” (2 Peter 2:7-9)

@farouk doesn’t seem to think that God can deliver the godly.

They need self-defense to deliver themselves!

Key word: "He" "His"...
He shall smite the earth with His mouth

Let me share a personal experience.

One early morning while it was still dark outside I had to walk to my job. I had to walk through a long portion of a road through an area known for murders and high crimes. It was quiet, no cars, no pedestrians other than me.

As I was walking suddenly I saw 4 men coming up a side street onto the road I was walking on coming in my direction. Two crossed the street to intercept me. I then started praying silently for God’s protection while continuing my walking pace towards them.

When the two got close, I walked past them. Then one of them blurted out, “yo, let me get that juice” (I was carrying a drink). I turned around without hesitation and gave him the juice and then turned around and kept walking.

Let me tell you, before I was a Christian, if this happened, I would have panicked and God only knows how that might have turned out!
I have experienced times of God's protection. But He has often chosen to allow me to suffer. Regardless, whether we are rescued or not, is not a barometer of our faith. Serving Him in the face of suffering is. But .... that's not what this thread is about.

There have been times when I went toe to toe with men who threatened my kids. I feel no remorse for that. There wasn't a man willing to defend my children. And God has never condemned me for standing up against evil men and their intentions toward my children. Have we still suffered at times? Yes, we have.

If they asked for my juice ....big deal ....giving someone my juice is not suffering. If you give a rapist your wife or children, I have some serious concerns. Give them yourself instead. You're a man (right???) ....then love your wife as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it!!

Whether or not as actual signed up members of the military, it can clearly be helpful for women to spend time learning techniques at a boot camp.

I believe farouk has great faith in God's Word to perform what it says it will do.
If your understanding is correct then should there be any martyrs existing today? I am certain that many who have been martyred for their Christian faith prayed and asked God to protect them from the enemy who was about to take their life...yet they willingly gave their life instead of renouncing their faith.
It's a difficult topic about whether to fight, run, or just take the punishment and pray that God will deliver us.
I have cried out JESUS!!! moments before an ex boyfriend was about to stab me with a knife and when I cried out JESUS SAVE ME!!!
He put the knife down and walked away.
But I can't say that has happened each time.

Nowhere in scripture does it say that Lot was perfect and did everything the way he should have. Just because that's what he did, doesn't mean he made the right decision. He was in that sinful place for so long, it's a wonder he even came out at all. The angels had to take them by the hand and pull them out ...his wife looked back, Lot rejected God's leading to go to a certain place and bargained with God to go to a closer city, then his daughters get him drunk and sleep with their own father ....and he let that happen. Just sick all the way around. These people were warped .....it was Abraham's prayers that saved them.

I know Lot was vexed by what he witnessed there, but somehow, he didn't escape there too willingly, nor did he escape without some major spiritual baggage.

Lot knew those men were wicked and they wouldn't have taken his daughters anyway. They were not only homosexual, but these people were having sex with fallen angels. They were willing to have sex with angels ....that says a lot!!

Offering of his virgin daughters was not a lesson about Lot protecting Angels whose power is greater than men. It was several lessons...
Corrupt desires of men; How Corrupt desires become easily open and accepted in a crowded city; How knowing how to bargain, offer something good, while full well knowing it will be rejected, openly without question reveals the Division; the door, trying to get in, offense, keeping out, defense.
It was not about Lot (the younger) imperfections, but rather Lot’s standing, despite his imperfections. Abraham, (the elder, wiser), (already knew the dark secrets and behaviors that occur in crowded cities) Abraham went beyond, bargaining, closing the door, and prayed.

I hardly think the Lord expects women to be the fainting waifs and shrinking violets of Victorian mythology. This is why learning self-defence techniques can be helpful.

A Powerful testimony. Thanks.

I see that scenario, at the one crying out having FEAR Reverence in the Lord, and the attacker having a Reality Check, of their FEAR Afraid of the Lords Power.

Glad you were able to avoid what could have been detrimental.
Some people do not have a few moments to decide a plan of defense.

@farouk was addressing the topic of “what people deal with”.
Farouk didn’t require a lesson in putting on the armor of God, so stuck with the topic.

should Christians use martial arts for self defense like karate, judo TKD?
The problem is not necessarily with learning how to defend yourself. It is the religion/philosophy behind martial arts that can be a problem.

"The martial arts are ancient methods of self-defense that are traditionally based upon Eastern philosophies or religions, especially Taoism and Zen Buddhism.[15] Jujitsu, karate, kyudo, and kenpo are strongly influenced by Zen Buddhism. Tai Chi is influenced by Taoism and to a degree also by Buddhism. Aikido is related to Japanese Buddhism and is influenced by Shinto. One writer exploring the history of Ninjutsu ties its development to various Mahayana Buddhist religions.[16] There are also many Western offshoots of martial arts that carry an eclectic or novel approach and incorporate other religious traditions or practices."
