Paul Washer said, "If the church uses carnal means to draw carnal men, it will be forced to continue and even grow in carnality in order to keep them."

Isn't it more personal and drawing to a person to just reach out and be kind; to act and be a person that gives them a sense of peace?

That open heartedness seems like a good conversation starter.
@LadyofFireandLace I agree basically about what you say about personal friendliness and kindness and testimony.

Sounds also that you now maybe regret your tattoo a bit more than you did maybe some months ago?

It isn't that I regret it but I just don't really care.

It's on the back of my neck and I never see it so I don't think about it. I've only been asked about it a few times.

@LadyofFireandLace Oh yes, well kind of like men already did years ago, it can seem rather sensible indeed to women that are inked up to treat their inkings in a matter-of-fact way; like, having gone for it, now just move on............

Some placements can depend on other factors also such as hair. My wife didn't ink up - when it was talked about it didn't actually happen - but with her hair she did go for The Chop years ago. Like a lot of women she keeps going back very regularly to keep it pared down. I reckon some back of neck tattoos never see the light of day, though, if the hair is very long.

@Taken Sounds then like you guys all feel it's rather fun to tease about getting inked up.....

We tease about numerous things. (Not cruel, sorrow, pain, etc.)
Even our deaf daughter gets teased and can dish it out. In the big scheme of life, the kids have always been friends with all kinds of people, even when an other kid would make negative comments like ugh why you talking, sitting with that person, AS IF. Yet being able to stand on their own character, regardless of others negative opinions.
Sort of interesting, and was not unusual for the my kids to plan summer parties, and easily have a hundred kids come over. The greasers, hoods, jocks, the shy, the fat, the popular, the unpopular, etc.
Outside of the “click” school setting, they talked, they mingled, they played games and laughed, and teased. Good times.

Thanks, @SERVANTedu I take your general point. I was really thinking of the words of Scripture; which can become a silent witness or a talking point when the wearer wishes to use them as such. My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of the wording of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also and I'm sure other conversations have arisen as a result of her willingness to use the tattoo parlor in this way.

My hesitation is to go the way of legalism; some hardline legalists might want to give young ppl a hard time because they have a Bible ref. tattooed on a wrist or because they have studs in their ears, or whatever. Hardliners do exist.

Legalism can be used on both sides of the divide. You are being legalistic in saying that "hardline legalists want to give young people a hard time because they have a Bible ref. tattooed on a wrist or because they have studs in their ears, or what ever. Hardliners do exist."

They sure do on both sides of the argument.

God spoke to Moses that He would prefer that people circumcised the foreskin of their hearts rather than bring an offering to be burned on the altar for their worship of Him.

It is what is written on the flesh of their heart, that cannot be seen physically because it is hidden from view, but very visible in the attitudes and demonstrations of their beliefs that they display in front of others.

My posturing in front of others is my witness of who the real me is. Farouk, your legalistic posturing on this forum re tattoos and studs turns many away from what your real heart may be wanting to demonstrate.

People dress to fit in with the crowd that they frequent, Tattoos can be seen in this same light, of trying to fit into the "in crowd," and it can become the start of the slippery slide into the abyss. The start of the falling away, so to speak.

I have no argument if God is telling young people to get Tattooed Bible verses on themselves, but I also question if the "Traveller" is not also whispering in our young believers ears to get a Tattoo, even if it is simply a bible verse to witness with. I just wonder how the tattooed people really respond initially to what they see. It is not the tattooed bible verses that win them over to believing in Christ, but the heart of the person that person is talking too.

Farouk, your rebelling against the poor witnessing of some "believers" has taken you completely in the wrong direction where you have become an encourager for young believers to get a tattooed bible verse to throw in the faces of the "poor older witnessing believers."

Often we believers get our witnessing stances so wrong.

I watched a news item on the TV the other night and the report was highlighting a new Ambulance paramedic who was going through their training who was heavily tattooed, particularly on his face and neck.
Thanks for your comments.

I take your point about the inadvisable placement of some tattoos.

It's actually extremely widespread for healthcare workers to be tattooed. FYI:

BluegrassRN said:
More of the nurses that I work with have tattoos than do not. On my shift, only three don't have them (of 13 nurses). We have several nurses (including myself) who have visible tattoos; one gal has them on her wrists.

@farouk watching the documentary "what is a woman" and I just noticed that Matt Walsh has the PX Christogram on his forearm.
Thanks, @SERVANTedu ; I'm not familiar with the exact example you mentioned; but you can see how for so many Christian young men and women, when the age of 18 and beyond comes round, to become inked up adults with a witness-friendly tattoo - even a very small one - can seem very compelling.

(At any rate, all the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have talked seem to have received their inkings for testimony tool reasons.)

@SERVANTedu Thanks.

Another widely sought after Christian tattoo design is the Christian fish sign <><

This design is particularly preferred at placements such as wrist or finger.

The young Christians with inkings with whom I have actually talked have been those with Bible verses tattooed. It seems very apparent that they would have gone confidently into the parlor almost certainly convinced that the tattooed Bible verses would in due course lead to plenty of conversations with ppl.

Yes they have healed well, thank you.
@L3astAm0ngManyB13ss3d I'm sure they must have, else otherwise you maybe wouldn't now be strongly intentioned to receiving more, and soon.

Tattoo artists sometimes say that the skill is going down just far enough with the needles pumping ink, but not too far down. Seems like your artist knew exactly what he was doing.

This very young artist was so calm and assured, I could NOT be less.....
For one so young but that has already been on his own for 6 yrs he was impressive.

One tat he had on his outer forehead near his temple was " courage". He said every morning when he looked at it it reminded him yes he could........
Very mature.

I have had so many deep vein blood draws that in my mind that's how far I thought he might go.......lol
I hardly bleed and I'm on blood thinners and the pain was way less than a finger stick !

@L3astAm0ngManyB13ss3d Sounds like your artist puts you at ease, as he injects the ink.

He is a well put together kid. Just from what he said about how hard his life has already been I'm of the thought he's not into wild things like drug and drink.

I know tattooing is addictive as well as piercings so ppl used this as a form of control in their lives, especially if they are excessively tattooed. He has many tats and piercings so again assuring on my part he has suffered abuse at someone's hands as a child.
