When you say double standard, do you mean like…someone speaking well but then later having a massive fail because their flesh got stirred up?

The whole of the Word of God is understandable by the Spirit but we are NOT encouraged by any word or apostle to study less or not to study as much.

Reading the whole Old Testament is fine as long as people remember not to overdo it..-

People quickly realised that if God had wanted them to stick with the Old T, he wouldn't have sent Jesus to give them the New..

I sort of agree with that. This will probably get someone to start some caterwauling but, He took my Bible from me for a very long period of time. I had read it all, and most of it many times, and then it became just gobbledygook to me. It was like He closed it to me. He still recalled verses to my mind when He wanted to teach me something but no matter how many times I tried to pick it up and read, it was dry, tasteless and…it was just no use to keep trying when He wasn’t allowing it.
But it was what He did with me. I’m sure He doesn’t do that with everyone. With me, He took it away to get me to just focus on trust. The few times I WAS able to read and see were wonderful but they were not often. And even praying during that long time of dryness was only small gasps, like…two or three words, like…oh have mercy on me or…sometimes with no words but just sighs of longing.

Yes God was telling you to ease off on the bible study because tired minds are easy prey for satan..
For example students who overdo the studying of various subjects often sadly kill themselves because satan has entered their tired minds and messed them up.
That's why the sabbath is one of the Ten Commandments, ordering us to take at least one day off per week to chill and recharge our spiritual batteries.

L.A.M.B., we've ALWAYS been like this. Look at the original Jewish Christians insisting that Gentile converts who worship their God need to keep kosher, take Saturdays off, and cut their foreskins off, while the Gentile converts thought their widows were being treated like second-class citizens. How about the Corinthians splitting into Apollos and Paul denominations? Hey, Paul and Barnabas had such a dust-up that they couldn't work together. Or Peter, Jesus's best buddy, wouldn't even eat with those Gentiles, and Paul called him out publicly. Aren't you glad the Bible shows us as we really are, warts and all? Later in Church history, you'd get the Nicene controversies, the Catholic/Protestant split....

The only thing I can do about it is resolve that the nastiness stops right here, right now, with me.

We don't have to be nasty to disagree. But the reason for disagreements should be explored. Are people simply ignoring plain Scriptures, or are they twisting and perverting them? And why are they doing that? Just because they were brainwashed, or are they willfully blind and willfully ignorant?

The truth of the matter is that there is a huge tsunami of false teachers and false doctrines at this time. So it behooves every Christian to study the Word of God and at the same time rightly divide the Word of Truth. We are not necessarily responsible for correcting others outside our church or fellowship.

Just about every single one of these nasty disagreements boils down to how we read the Bible, how we interpret scripture, and which verses we prioritize.

The title of the thread is, "Who is right?" The answer is obviously, "I am", and if ya'll would just read, interpret, and prioritize the way I read and interpret the Bible, the problem would go away.
