Ancient Calendars are of very little value or use.
But what we do have is a complete list of when the Patriarchs and the Kings were born or commenced to reign, and for how long before each successor was born or became King.
We can add these up, and they finish at the last King of Judah; when Zedekiah was deposed by the Babylonian Conquest. That date is known to be 586 BC.
Therefore; we can ascertain that Adam received his soul/spirit from God on 3970.5 BC.

From that, it isn't too difficult to calculate that we are at present in year 5992 +/- a year or so.
This is scary, because the timeline is divided into exact traches of 2000 years; Adam to Abraham, 2000 years; Abraham to Jesus, 1992 years; Jesus to the present day.
We seem to be in for a very interesting time ahead!

As you might suspect not every on is going to agree with the Adam and 3970 BC timeframe.
Remember the Y2K thing and how many well known people calculated that.
A lot of it keys on the 2000 mark one way or the other, even though the Apostles thought they were living in last days.
The 586 date comes from Pagan sources and I am not saying that in negative way. Sort of written in stone using their reckoning of time.
The problem will always be the accuracy of it all. It is not consistent, that is why people go through and figure it up differently.

When you are trying to research the past.....LOL....historical detective work....it is all about confidence levels.
Studying the scriptures is certainly a worthwhile effort.....a lot to learn....It is the timeline of math that disappoints.
How many people have tried to calculate the date of Christ's return.
Looking back in history.....the turn of the first millennium saw a lot predictions. The Church was under attack from all sides by Pagan armies.....things looked dismal....

This is what was written in that time period....
See and know and understand this; the end of this world is very near. Many calamities have appeared and man’s cries and woes have greatly multiplied from day to day. We hear of monstrous plaques and strange deaths throughout the country. Nation raiseth against nation, we see wars caused by iniquitous deeds. The Almighty will bring this world to an end!

Despite all of your and others, attempts to discredit the timeline obtained from 47 Bible verses and known historical dates, it stands and what the Bible Prophets said will be vindicated.

I understand the objections, because it means that people alive now will experience some very dramatic and testing times. Tough!

Here is the Biblical and historically accurate timeline:

7000 years from the Creation to the Completion of Mankind:
Genesis 1:27 Adam was created in 3972.5 BC subtracted back to 586 BCE, from:

Gen 5:3 Seth +130, Gen 5:6 Enoch +105, Gen 5:9 Kenan +90, Gen 5:12 Mahalalel +70, Gen 5:15 Jared +65, Gen 5:18 Enoch +162, Gen 5:21 Methuselah +65, Gen 5:25 Lamech +187, Gen 5:28 Noah+182, Gen 7:6 The Flood came when Noah was +600, Gen 11:10 Our year 2314.5 BC
Arpachshad +2 - born to Shem after the flood. Gen 11:12 Selah +35, Gen 11:14 Heber +30, Gen 11:16 Peleg +34, Gen 11:18 Reu +30, Gen 11:20 Serug +32, Gen 11:22 Nahor +30 , Gen 11:24 Terah +29, Gen 11:26 Abram +70, Abram was +52 when God called him and they left Ur. Our year 1970.5 BCE He lived in Haran for 23 years, then went to Canaan at age 75. Genesis 12:4 Total years so far = 2000

Gen 17:1, Abraham was 99 when the Covenant was made with God. +47 Genesis 17:1-8

Galatians 3:17 Paul states that the Law was given +430 after the Covenant. Total years elapsed until the Exodus – 2477, in our year 1493.5 BC.
1 Kings 6:1 The Temple construction starts, in the 4th year of King Solomon +480 since the Torah was given at the Exodus.. 1 Kings 11:42 Solomon 40 minus 4 = +36, 1 Kings 14:21 Rehoboam +17, 1 Kings 15:2 Abijah +3, 2 Chron 16:13 Asa +41, 1 Kings 22:42 Jehoshaphat +25, 2 Kings 8:17 Jehoram +8, 2 Kings 8:26 Ahaziah +1, 2 Kings 11:1-3 Athaliah +6, 2 Kings 12:1 Joash +40, 2 Kings 14:2 Amaziah +29, 2 Kings 15:1-2 Azariah +52, 2 Kings 15:33 Jotham +16, 2 Kings 16:2 Ahaz +16, 2 Kings 18:1-2 Hezekiah +29, 2 Kings 21:1 Manasseh +55, 2 Kings 21:19 Amon +2, 2 Kings 22:1 Josiah +31, 2 Kings 23:31 Jehoahaz +3mths, 2 Kings 23:36 Jehoiakim +11, 2 Kings 24:8 Jehoichin +3mths, 2 Kings 24:18-20 Zedekiah +11, who ruled until the Babylonian captivity in our year of 586 BC.

Total elapsed years to the first exile of Judah = 3386.5

3386.5 + 586 = 3972.5
years from 1BC to when Adam was Created.

586 BC + 613.5 years + 2
comes to 29.5/30 AD, the date of Jesus’ acknowledgment as King of Israel. Plus 2 to include the total number of elapsed years, as our calendar system counts years from their commencement.

3386.5 + 613.5 = 4000 years from Adam to Jesus.

You are still working with dates that do not appear in the Bible.....that is the point made to begin with.

If it was intended for people to try to add this up....wouldn't there be dates in scriptures?

You add it up this way and somebody else adds it that way.....what does it hurt? Nothing. You have people studying the scriptures, that is not a bad thing.....but because there is no consistency the confidence level is not very high.

I merely use known historical dates to relate God's Calendar to ours.
Your objection is nonsense.
If it was intended for people to try to add this up....wouldn't there be dates in scriptures?
God gave those time periods to us, in His holy Word. Are you saying that God wasted Bible space with them?
No dates in scripture?..... more abject nonsense.

If you think I have made a mistake, then point it out, otherwise your objections are utter nonsense.

Calm down. I understand exactly what you doing. Nothing wrong with it. Unless you prescribe a preciseness to it.

The biblical storyline is the most important. And no matter what time periods are not precise dates. But there is no harm in speculating.

What should flag an immediate and focussed response, is the fact of God's Timeline being exact 2000 year tranches.
The critical truth is: for us alive today, we are less than 10 years from the end of the third 2000 year period - since Jesus was acclaimed as King, was Crucified and Resurrected, in 30 AD.
This truth, unpalatable as it seems to many, should have our undivided attention. Why doesn't it?

No matter how God calculated His decreed time for mankind, we should be prepared for all that is prophesied before Jesus Returns and be ready to shout: Blessed is the Name of the Lord, at His glorious Return.

Exactly. Those that remain on earth during the hour of testing will see those things before His coming at the 6th seal when He remains in the clouds. When He comes at the 7th trumpet, He will set His feet on the Mount of Olives.

Basically I did it myself.
I did consult several other efforts and found them all to be wrong in some way. Usshers date of October 23rd 4004 BC, simply does not add up correctly and others are no better than wild guesses.

My whole point is that we are now, at the very edge of the events leading up to the glorious Day Jesus will Return.
We have been told by the Prophets what must happen first and then the winnowing out of the ungodly peoples, Matthew 3:12
Only the faithful, righteous Christian peoples will go into the Millennium with King Jesus.

Why have you only counted the kings of Judah during the divided kingdom period? Have you not seen the linkages between both nations and how they were supposed to be counted together?

Yes; that is a good question.
If you look at who took over he Kingship of the House of Israel: the Northern ten tribes, it was Jeroboam, son of Nebat, 1 Kings 11:26, who was not of any Royal line. The Lord gave him control over Israel, so He could punish the House of Judah; 2 Kings 11:37-39
Judah, is the holder of the Sceptre. - Genesis 49:10 Which culminated in Jesus.

So the Kings of Israel do not count in any timeline, the ones of Judah do, as bad as most of them were! I do not see any 'linkages'.

Here is an example of a linkage. The end of the northern kingdom is linked to Hezekiah’s sixth year.

“In the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.”
(‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭18‬:‭10‬)

So Keraz, could you count (per your understanding) the number of years from when Solomons kingdom divided until the sixth year of Hezekiah. Let us know please.

Thanks

From the given time periods in the Bible - 245 years from Rehoboams start, to the 6th year of Hezakiah.

Then from Hezakiah's 6th year, when the Assyrians conquered Samaria, in the known date of 721 BC, to the known date of 586 BC; the Babylonian conquest of Judah, 721 - 586 = 135
I add up the kings reigns for that period, to 133.5 years. Going to quibble about 1 1/2 years?

Historians tell us that Samaria was conquered in 721 BC, by king Shalmaneser, but it wasn't until about 715 BC that the Israelites were exiled, under King Sargon 2.

On your previous post your figure from Rehoboam to 6th year of Hezekiah equaled 260 years. So, Im not quibbling when I tell you that the reigns of the Northern Kingdom over the same period was 241 years! The implications for your calculation back to Adam is that it might be up the boo-eye.

Did you try to reconcile the reigns of kings as given in the Old Testament before coming up with your 7000-year theory?

Yes; a careful recheck confirms 260 years. This is irrelevant to the timeline as presented.
My excuse is I'm watching the cricket match - Inda vs New Zealand. Not looking good so far.

I object to having Bible truths attributed to me. The 7000 year Plan of God for mankind, is confirmed by the Genesis story, by Hosea 6:2, by Revelation 20, by the Gospel of Barnabus , by some of the ECF's and by the Biblical and historical record.
