Simply love this spontaneous eulogy--love you brother.

1) "That I may know him" (tou gnonai auton) “to know him personally, practically, and experimentally in life.

2) "And the power of his resurrection" (kai ten dunamin tes anastaseos) "And the power of the resurrection" of him, Rom_6:3; Col_3:1-2.

3) "And the fellowship of his sufferings" (kai koinonian pathematon autou) "And the common fellowship of his sufferings" 1Pe_4:13; 2Ti_2:11.

4) "Being made conformable unto his death" (summorphi-zomenos to thanato autou) "being conformed, patterned according to, his death", in purpose, devotion, and commitment.

J.
I love you too!

Much love!

And he gave Apostles too and they are no longer in existence.
I'm not so sure about that myself. I don't mean in terms of writing new Scriptures, but apostles are "sent ones", aren't these the modern day missionaries? Going where the Gospel hasn't yet been preached?

Much love!

Yep like it does Apostles who no longer exist
What you have done is given all control to men. God is not allowed to appoint, anoint or send anyone out. Only men get to do that. No Holy Spirit. Which brings us back to what Epi said - what you think is a church is definitely not. It’s just men dressed in suits who other men approve of…

Agreed but I’m talking about the office of Apostles in the primary sense as the foundation of the church. We are all sent in the secondary sense.

God has given control to men as leaders in the church who are elders.

If prophets were the “foundation” of the early church, are we still building the “foundation” today?
Ephesians 2:19-22 KJV
19) Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20) And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21) In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22) In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

That's an interesting thought. And I see you don't rule out the gift of prophecy, If I'm understanding you rightly. Am I?

Much love!

God has given control to men as leaders in the church who are elders.
1 Peter 5:1-4 KJV
1) The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2) Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3) Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
4) And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

Shepherds, under the Chief Shepherd.

Much love!

That came from got questions so I cannot say I’m in 100% agreement on everything. I’m a cessationist lol. But I really don’t like to argue about it much these days.

Yes. But only by abiding in Christ. In Him is no sin. There is a mystery here that unless you have experienced resurrection life...still the greatest secret in the world... you will never believe it.

I think unbelievers understand this better because they haven't learned to limit God by becoming religious and reciting dogma.

I walked with God BEFORE going to a church institution...so I wasn't indoctrinated into limiting God.

I'm very thankful for that. But I never fit in with the religiously converted people.
Resurrection life is no secret or mystery . It’s all over the pages of the NT. It’s foundational to the gospel and the Christian life. Paul taught it all his letters

The same Paul who said this?
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
