The same could be said of Peter - he was a human being, like you and me, but he didn't consider his own words to be holy.
None of the apostles tooted their own horn. John didn't either in his gospel.

By the way, Bob, do you now see that part of the miracle of the Holy Spirit falling on the Day of Pentecost was also HEARING, and well as SPEAKING?

It isn't about tooting their horns. I think they were regular human beings, faithful to the Lord, and very wise. I don't think they thought their words were holy, just like you and I don't think our words our holy. But some decided their words were holy.

Errors? I don't think The LORD makes those – He's way too wise for that!

It's interesting to me that the Bible gives directions to find God, but some seem to think the Bible IS God.
John 1:1 "In the Beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God."

John 17: "Sanctify them by Your Truth. Thy word is Truth"

Matthew 4:4 - JESUS says,"man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the Mouth of God."

The apostles had the Holy Spirit literally inside of them in their mind and in their conscience. It makes us be able to hear God's voice and understand the truth. If you doubt they were holy, remember even their shadow healed people. I know when God speaks to me, but it is forthtelling, not foretelling, although He has told me the future once, and it came to pass. It had to do with a miracle He was going to do.

The Holy Spirit is available to each of us. Remember what Paul said? "Pray constantly" (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, “Does this offend you?
What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before?
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
But there are some of you who do not believe.”

Bob, I went to church for 30 years BEFORE receiving the Holy Spirit inside me. Not everyone who calls themselves a Christian is Spirit-filled.

Everyone baptized into Christ receives the Holy Spirit at the time of baptism according to scripture. There's no delay or time lag.

Acts 2:38

38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

No, only those who repent. Repentance has to do with the Holy Spirit. I was baptized THREE times, the last in 73, but in 77 I finally truly repented and received the Holy Spirit and He gave me many gifts, and one was hearing God's voice. It was then after I had been freed from sin that God spoke and told me "Now be baptized in water."

DJT, I am very, very concerned for the Church. Jesus is coming for a spotless Bride. How many Christians even believe they have been freed from the desire to sin? There are more Christians believing doctrines of demons than believing the Bible.

Acts 2:38 says repent. I don't follow you. Repentance is part of the salvation process.
1. Belief
2. Confession of belief as the Ethiopian eunuch did as per Rom 10:9
3. Repent per Acts 2:38
4. Baptism per Acts 2:38

That's the process

Precious friends, this is an intriguing/interesting thought?:

Why would The LORD "reveal to Paul" that "the sign gifts would cease" before His
Second Coming, IF 'that Coming' is when "That Which Is Perfect Is Come"?

Did He Make 'an error'? Why didn't He Just Leave 'Such A Statement' out to
"prevent Much Confusion" since they will continue until He Comes anyway?
( Sure would be a LOT Less "biting and devouring" over the Massive Confusion, eh? )

Perchance He Really Meant His Pure And Preserved Word, Which He "Has Magnified
Above All His Holy Name" is Actually "That Which Is Perfect" and that "It Has Come"

and. thus "the sign gifts Have Actually Already ceased"?

What think ye?

Amen.
The gift of tongues was given for the purpose of spreading the Gospel.....the wonderful works of God.
When 'tongues' convey messages which have nothing to do with the wonderful works of God; with the enlightenment of those hearing, one can be sure it is not the Spirit of Jesus.

The gift of tongues need not only be understood as one speaking an unfamiliar language, it needs also be understood as one having the gift of presenting the Character of God as revealed in Jesus, cogently.
