Galatians 5:4 NIV
You who are trying to be justified
by the law have been alienated from Christ;
you have fallen away from grace.

What is "the law?" Does it mean exactly the same thing everywhere the word is used?

What's wrong with obeying commandments that the Bible says were meant to be written upon our hearts and bring wellness to us and to our children forever?

People in Hell, are there because they are not born again.

If you want to go the Heaven, then Jesus said "You must be born again".
And they are not born again because Christ didn't die and rise again as their Surety ! Our New Birth is the fruit of His Resurrection 1 Pet 1:3

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

God leaves faith to your free will, that is True.

Just like He allowed Adam the free will to bite the Apple.

Just Like Jesus said of the Jerusalem Jew......"i would have gathered you to myself but YOU... WOULD... NOT"

See that?
That is God allowing Free Will.

God honors your choices., as you made them all.
Faith comes from God in Salvation Acts 5:31

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Repentance and Faith are joined together

And they are not born again because

They are not born again because then never believed in Jesus by faith, when they were on the earth and breathing.

They were never born again...so, after they died they went to where you go if you never did this while you were on earth.

A.) Jesus said..."you must be born again".

See, to go to heaven after you die, ... you have to become born again into God and Christ, while you are on the earth.

And you can't be born again in Hell.

Faith comes from God in Salvation Acts 5:31

A measure of faith is given to everyone.
But that is not the same as God making you believe.

See...we have been given CHOICE, and Choice is free will.

Adam chose to bite the apple.

Hitler chose to hate Jews and burn them in ovens.

Lucifer chose to (rebel) turn against God.

A person chooses to believe in Christ, or not.

God honors our choices.. He does not violate our free will.

Salvation is always available to every unbeliever, but they have to come to God through faith in Christ to receive it.

John 14:6

Well, that's very interesting—a covenant that cancels itself out. You'd think modern lawyers would have picked up on that as a model by now. How long was it in force?

.
When Jesus died on the cross that was the end of the Old Covenant and the beginning of the New Covenant, Matthew 27:51. No more laws or religion for God's people because God sees them as perfect and complete in Christ, Colossians 2:10.

Does applying the correct label to them help to determine whether we ought to obey them or not?

There are 613 "Laws" and most religious Jews in Israel, who wear black suits and stupid fuzzy hats outside in the summer heat, as do their children.... and worship "Shabbot", (The sabbath) could not name 124 of them.

So, when we hear all this GENTILE talk about "law keeping", ... and you realize that the person who is worrying about that, can't name 400 of the Laws, or even 40.... and yet they are "keeping the law", as a part of their idea of how to go to heaven.

Its just really becomes an unfortunate situation for them, as they are just talking to talk "hyper religious chatter".

What we know is that if Jesus has not died on the Cross yet, there is no Salvation, yet.
But the law and commandments are here..
= They are meaningless regarding the reason that God will accept you, as they were given to demand righteousness from you, and we dont have any, ... because "all have sinned".. "ALL".
So, the law and commandments say to us....>"Go to the Cross, as God has the righteousness waiting to give you".. "See Jesus for the update".. "And bring your FAITH".

And what is the new covenant . what was it all about .
Lets read some bible .
And i shall make a new covenant with them , i shall write my laws upon their hearts and in their minds .
You see for finding fault WITH THEM He did bring a new covenant .
Only It aint quite what most folks who love sin be thinking it is or was .
The law will never justify us , that be a fact . It can and does show us the great dire need we have IN CHRIST
for all have sinned , all have fallen short .
BUT JESUS AINT no ministir o sin either . MANY folks do not know the CHRIST of GOD
nor understand the totality of the new covenant at all .
JESUS came to set us free . FREE FROM WHAT .....................................GO YE AND LEARN THAT too .

Right. There is something to that.
What do you make of this?

Romans 2:14-16 NIV
(Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law,
do by nature things required by the law,
they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law.
15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts,
their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts
sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.)
16 This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets
through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
It's been a long, difficult day, and I have nine more messages to respond to.

It's not about being justified. It's about staying out of trouble. If you steal, commit adultery, bear false witness, or murder, you're going to get into trouble.

Okay, I believe Paul is taking a microscope to the issue. As I keep posting, we will get into trouble if we murder, steal, bear false witness, or commit adultery. God, as our conscience, can point this out to us. He can remind us of the words in the Bible, if we've read the Bible. And if we haven't read the Bible, I'm sure there are other ways he can warn us of the danger involved if we commit these acts.

No more laws or religion...

Unbelievable

I feel like I'm in a crazy dream and I can't wake up.

Matthew 5
17“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

James 1:27
Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

Here's my complete answer.
Observations about the law, the Law, God's law, Christ's law - four different things

Only God's law written on our human conscience. See the topic link above.

I read post #s 1 & 2 and considered them at length, believe it or not.

Sorry, but I tend to reject theories that can't be explained to a child. I find it helps me to avoid deception. And, FWIW, I somehow justified wasting enough time to be about average with NT Greek.

Do you obey the tassels command given by God to his people?
If not, why not? It's as binding as Sabbath law.

What does "binding" mean?

I think it's a word that isn't used much in the Bible aside from something that sin does to a person—not law.

The Sabbath commandment is listed with the other 9 moral imperatives on tables of stone written by the finger of God that He says in Deu 5:29 if taken to heart will impart wellness to us and to our children forever.

You honestly don't think that bears any distinction from "handwriting of ordinances that was against us?"

Frankly, I'm just bewildered by all the objection to law and religion that I see on the Internet. 33 years ago, when I started getting serious about my faith, it was teens and twenty-somethings that did that kind of stuff. Now I've got a 70+-year-old men splitting hairs with me over what is actually required by civil law in most countries apart from the first 4 commandments.

Do you really think God expects anyone to believe that He is as interested in a planetful of folks with tassels as He is in the sanctity of life?

Are tassels as "binding" as the prohibition of murder?

I'm repeating myself here, but I feel like I'm in some zany dream and can't wake up.

I'm afraid it's a built-in hazard of social media that we do a lot more comparison with each other than communion. It's a constant source of frustration to me that folks are so ultra-sensitized to ethical and moral concerns and desensitized to gratuitous sex and violence by media and sensory consumerism.

I say this because, although I've had very pleasant interaction with you before (I do remember our brief chat about the broader concepts of universalism, btw), I can't help feeling like "I wonder how offensive this is going to come across" with every line I type.

Oh, well. I guess I've rambled sufficiently.
