Paul said, "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes" Romans 10:4.
Do you understand what this scripture means?
What it means is that Jesus is the end and the fulfillment of God's Holy Law. It also means that outside of Jesus Christ there is no law or righteousness that God will accept. This is why Paul said, "But now the righteousness of God WITHOUT THE LAW is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets" Romans 3:21. Jesus is God's law incarnate in human flesh.
Jesus is our righteousness. We don't have a righteousness that God will accept because we are all sinners born after our first father Adam, Romans 5:12. Our righteousness is totally and completely outside of us and is in Jesus Christ, Romans 3:26. This is very important doctrine because we are justified by the righteousness of Christ. This righteousness is to our account, reserved for us in heaven, 1 Peter 1:4.
God accepts the righteousness of Christ in our name and on our behalf, just like we were really righteous, which we are not, Romans 3:10. When God looks at us all that he can see is his Son Jesus Christ. "For you are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God" Colossians 3:3. This is where we should want to be. In the judgment we want to be found "In Christ". If we are not found to be "In Christ" we will perish.
The Gospel is good news that Jesus has perfected our humanity and has taken it back to heaven. "We are complete in him" Colossians 2:10. Because of the doing and the dying of Jesus we can now stand in God's Holy Court as justified, Romans 3:26. "But to him that does no works, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly (us) his faith is counted for righteousness" Romans 4:5. Faith, not works, laws or religion counts for righteousness. God does not accept the works or the obedience of sinners, God only accepts the works and the obedience of Jesus Christ. We are accepted only in him and because of him, Philippians 3:9.
Man was created by God to receive. Everything in life must be received, even eternal life, Ephesians 2:8. God provides, and we receive. To reject what God has provided us in Jesus Christ is spiritual suicide.
