It also says what will happen if they do what he says.

You can't have it both ways. You can't claim it should be read literally and then start offering meanings for words other than their common intention.

I said I believed God was the light. I have not changed my opinion.

I said if yu want to question what that light was your free too. But yu cannot question if there was light or not.

One last time: the text in Genesis 1 does not say God is the light. You are not taking the text literally in that case but giving an interpretation of "light." That's fine, but you have left the realm of literal and have entered the realm of metaphor. Next time you question another's reading of Genesis because it's not literal, just remember yours is not necessarily literal, either. Make sense?
