James VI/James I’s Love Life: The British King whose Lovers were Men — History is Now Magazine, Podcasts, Blog and Books | Modern International and American history

James VI of Scotland (later also crowned James I of England) is a king of some ambiguity: he was both intellectually wise (possibly one of the cleverest kings that either England or Scotland has had), yet also remarkably foolish in how he allowed his heart to rule his head. But James was not a man o

Why is it that so many of your messages are defending gays?
That is actually a good question. A nice change of pace.

The LGBTQ community is an unreached people group that Jesus loved enough to die for.
But the church hates them. What's wrong with this picture?

My aim is to educate/challenge the church and Christians in general about the complexity of these issues.
The LGBTQ community is not allowed to engage with the general church population due to discriminatory attitudes.
However, the number of gay-affirming churches is growing astronomically. Put in your area to find where they are in your town.

Christians don't hate gays. We want to pull gays and gay defenders from the fire.

If you really wanted to help gays you would warn them that Jesus said they're heading for EVERLASTING fire!

You come across as gay to me also. I wonder why we think your gay?

Could it have something to do with you advertising for the gays? Encouraging christian brothers & sisters to accept them as God's chldren? Countless threads where you say those two verses in the Bible doesnt mean dont be a homosexual and your 10 page essay on Gaydom can explain why....!

Yep, you're gay all right. That's not an accusation. It's an affirmation! Yes, Steen, we know your gay. Give it a rest. Repent.
Ad Hominem Fallacy

Ad hominem means “against the man,” and this type of fallacy is sometimes called name calling or the personal attack fallacy. An ad hominem fallacy occurs when someone attacks the person instead of attacking his or her argument. This approach can act as a method of discrediting an opponent or simply deflecting or avoiding the actual topic of discussion.

When we attack the person instead of tackling the issue, our audience might think we don’t understand what’s being discussed or can’t disprove our opponent’s view. It’s better to stick to the issue at hand and avoid confusing the person with their point of view.

One way to identify homophobic people, is by their use of the ad hominem argument. They frankly do not know what they're talking about, so they attack the person presenting the best argument.

Get this straight! Christians don't hate gays!! WHERE are your posts about how we hate adulterers, or liars, murderers, thieves, etc????
Why just this topic? It's clear what you are trying to do here. It won't work.
We hate the SIN. We don't hate the SINNER. You totally miss the concept of repentance?
Try to grasp that.

To the contrary.

God is quite specific in his word. The sin of Sodomites, homosexuals,is abomination.

The Ad Hom that occurs in this thread is in the OP and against King James. No one accused James of buggery, homosexuality, when he was alive.

The lie slander and defamation, against King James has carried on for centuries.

It was a lie at its inception.

However,in order to discredit what homosexuals label as the clobber verses in scripture, those that specifically condemn their unnatural couplings, they insist the sovereign that authorized the printing of of the Bible that condemns their son is said to be a homosexual.

They think that discredits the Bible version bearing his name.

Spreading gossip is a sin. And yes,it is suspect when someone identifying as Christian defends Sin.
Especially if they excuse homosexual sodomy acceptable to God if the two homosexuals are in a relationship.

The origin of the gay King James slander.

"... Sir Anthony Weldon is the primary source of the allegation that James was a homosexual.

James's Enemies Discredited

Maurice Lee, Jr., a historian published by the University of Illinois Press, says, "Historians can and should ignore the venomous caricature of the king's person and behavior drawn by Anthony Weldon." [22] Another historian, Christopher Durston, writes regarding Weldon's book: "This poisonous piece of literary revenge was to do profound and lasting damage to James's reputation, as it became the prime source for many subsequent historical assessments whose authors failed to make sufficient allowance for its obvious bias." [23]

There were several others who hinted that James was a homo-sexual. However, upon examination, in each case, they turn out to be avowed political enemies of James and likely fed upon each other's gossip. Much could and has been written on this matter. However, Ste-phen Coston quotes a historian who lived much closer to these charges as "despicable and libelous, . . . full of lies, mistakes, and nonsense." [24] "

So you're saying that my only good option is letting him write his big essay and try to understand it? But I don't need to do that, it's very simple. The man is gay. WHy is he afraid to come out of the closet? No gay pride?

I don't mind being identified as Homophobic. I am homophobic. Get him out of here! Don't get any on you! Icck! Icck! I have no part with the gays. They gays have nothing on me. So making the observation that He is gay isnt an attack, that's an attack at all. He is the one being obsessed with all things gay and thereby demonstrating that he is gay.

Oh he's just a gay sympathizer and not a gay? I call BS on that. That's what they told the young man that they were trying to seduce into gaydom.
Your not really gay for going down on a man, only if you take it in the butt...What a lie!

And after that, they had themselves another gay in their ranks. I suspect that being gay and having a homosexual experience is like drugs or anything else on this planet...it's addictive.

That said, don't even try to talk positive about gays on a Christian forum. If you do it makes you look gay! Are you gay? No? Then why are you sticking up for the gays?

Captain Homophobe I am I am...Get it out of here! SECURITY!! Escort that one out! Another gay is repentant about being gay and seeks help in finding and reconciling with the Lord? He can stay.

Interesting how those hiding in the gay closet are ashamed to admit they are gay isn't it. They claim to be Christians even tho Jesus said they are heading for Hell Fire. That's why they attack the Christian Bible like Satan's messengers! Some can be pulled from the fire. I know that for fact! I had a family member who was pulled from the fire.
