Amen! Fear and bondage to insecurity is no way to live the Christian life and prior to my conversion while still attending a church that taught a false gospel, I had absolutely no assurance of salvation and was miserable! It was not until after I received Jesus Christ through faith that I found eternal security in Jesus Christ. (1 John 5:11-13) Praise God!

This thread is not about the "practicality" of either position, only about the historical claim that the Church fought OSAS during its early years as part of its fight against Gnosticism, because OSAS was a doctrine unique to Gnostics.

It does not at all follow : Gnostics had their set of deviations from the Gospel, and Orthodoxy developed its own deviations from the Gospel.

I don't see where OSAS came from Gnosticism. Their teachings emphasize an individual's ability to attain gnosis (special knowledge) and spiritual enlightenment through personal effort and revelation, rather than relying on a concept of eternal security of the believer or the imputed righteousness of Christ as seen in OSAS. Many works-salvationists who strongly oppose OSAS typically teach that it came from Calvinism.

However. people can make Gods word contradict by the way they interpret different parts of Gods word.

It teaches salvation is only applicable to those that are abiding IN CHRIST

Man y today get born again accepting Jesus as their Savior and then they don't abide in Christ, instead they live as sinners out in the world that never got born again and the Lord does not receive them in the end because they are workers of iniquity (walking after the flesh, not being led by the Holy Spirit)

OSAS, came from Religious Jews in Paul's day....who wanted to confused Christians about the Gospel.......So, they put a spin on it.. and this spin captivates the carnal flesh in the type of Chrisitan who is trying to stay saved by self effort, or law keeping or commandment keeping.
So, that type, wont have God's Grace, as they are SELF Righteous, and want to prove that THEY are in control and its up to THEM if they stay saved.

So, these Jews, in Paul's Day......understood this Self Righteousness in many Christians...., so, they created this "subverted Gospel" concept for THEM that teaches ....>"you are teaching that you can do anything you want, and not have any consequence""

See that? = OSAS.

So, the person who is involved in trying to stay saved.....hears that false gospel and they LOVE IT........>"oh YES" !!!.....becasue that teaching denies that God's Grace that is Jesus on the Cross is the GIFT of Salvation that both saves you and keeps you saved.

If someone who is a new believe and is undecided about OSAS having just heard about it, what scripture references would you provide to them to show them OSAS is not true biblical doctrine?

Playing videos is nice and all and there may be some great information in them, but as you may have already discovered most people are not going to sit and watch a video.

They want to see some scripture references that refute OSAS, so please do share that with the readers
