“We must do something to stop those evil people with their weapons of mass destruction. We’ll do it by unleashing our weapons of mass destruction on them before they unleash theirs on us.”
When I was in Air Force ROTC (50 years ago), we had a saying which gave us great pride and courage: “Do unto them before they do unto us.”
We were pretty confident that we would never be called upon to actually do it. MAD, don’t you know. Mutually Assured Destruction. No sane person would initiate that.
The brilliant foolishness of man. As someone role playing a U.S. General said in class one day: “If you’ve got ‘em [nuclear and conventional weapons], smoke ’em [the enemy].” We all fell about the classroom, laughing hysterically.
One of the best decisions I ever made in college was to join ROTC. One of the best decisions I ever made after joining ROTC was to leave ROTC after a year. That’s all the time I needed to learn an important lesson.

God allows them to exist and to do their evil. He could stop them any time he wants to with a single word.
Evil isn’t truly defeated by evil. Evil perpetuates evil.
The great commission of the Messiah is to make disciples in all the nations of the world; not by advising the nation to take up weapons against nation, but by preaching the gospel of the kingdom.
