Ephesians 5:23-32 KJV
23) For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24) Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25) Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26) That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27) That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28) So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29) For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30) For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31) For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32) This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Simply stated, this passage uses the union of an husband and wife, that the man love his wife as his own body, to demonstrate our relationship with Jesus. Not that we are His wife, but that we are beome actual members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones.

The truth taught here is that Jesus takes care of us as His very Own body, which body we in fact are.

"for this cause" . . . God instituted marriage to be the best example in this life to show our unity with God.

This passage does not tell us we are the bride of Christ. It shares with us Jesus' concern and care over us, and uses the marriage of a man and woman to show an example.

Much love!

How about v4? Will you tell me you are not married to Christ? As a member of His body?
Are you not one of the 'my brethren'?

Romans 7

Or do you not know, brethren (for I speak to those who know the law), that the law [a]has dominion over a man as long as he lives? 2 For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband. 3 So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she has married another man.

4 Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.

5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. 6 But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.

The wife (bride) has made herself ready, for what reason!!

Rev 19

6 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the[d] Lord God Omnipotent reigns!

7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”
8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.” 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

γυνή gynḗ, goo-nay'; probably from the base of G1096; a woman; specially, a wife:—wife, woman.

7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His (woman)wife has made herself ready.”

8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

γάμος gámos, gam'-os; of uncertain affinity; nuptials:—marriage, wedding.

9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the (nuptials, wedding) marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”

Wife, saints nuptial, wedding, marriage equals the body of Christ which is the church,

Well what is the objection to the marriage supper of the Lamb with the saints being compared to as a bride and a wife?

Revelation 22:17
And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

The bride to some here has no meaning or purpose or definition, simply useless.
Just rip those verses out of your bible.
Do you think the city says come?
Who besides the Spirit would say "Come!", except for the bride, and that refers to the church.
Does the church not evangelize the gospel?

This as with everything that gets discussed has been distorted on a discussion forum and for what purpose, makes me wonder.
So typical.

The Bride in Revelation 22:17 represents the Church, the called-out saints of God. In the New Testament, the Church is described as the “Bride of Christ,” symbolizing a personal, intimate, and covenantal relationship with Christ. Ephesians 5:25–27 illustrates the relationship between Christ and His Church, saying, “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot of wrinkle of any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish” (ESV).

As the Bride of Christ, believers are called to wholehearted devotion to Christ. Part of what it means to be devoted to Christ is proclaiming the gospel and inviting others to join the household of faith. The Bride’s role in Revelation 22:17, then, is to join the Spirit in saying, “Come.” The cooperative effort between the Holy Spirit and the Bride signifies the importance of our sharing the gospel with unbelievers.

What did Adam say about his wife?
Genesis 2
22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He [a]made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

23 And Adam said:

“This is now bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh;

She shall be called [b]Woman,
Because she was taken out of [c]Man.”

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be[d] joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

So yes the wife is part of her husband, same as Christ with us

Or do you not know, brethren (for I speak to those who know the law), that the law [a]has dominion over a man as long as he lives? 2 For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. Who exactly was bound by the Law? To whom was the Law given? Who was required to keep the Law?

Paul refers to them as "brethren" and says he speaks to those who know the Law. Who was that?

Much love!

Oh Marks...the passage says both. But it also refers to the women/wife also first being a part of the man, coming out of the man, and then returning to become one again (after which the rest of scripture tells of her cleansing).

The LAW does not end until the new earth and heaven are created.
Why?, because of transgressions (sins) against God, for the law is holy and good.
Matthew 5:18
For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Galatians 3:19
What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1 Timothy 1

3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia—remain in Ephesus that you may [a]charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 4 nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith. 5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from [b]sincere faith, 6 from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, 7 desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm.

8 But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully,

9 knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is [c]contrary to sound doctrine,

11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust.

John 3:27-29 KJV
27) John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
28) Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
29) He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

Mark 2:18-20 KJV
18) And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?
19) And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
20) But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

Matthew 15:24 KJV
But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

While using the marriage as a simile, it actually says we are His body. It does not actually say we are His wife. That place is for another.

31) For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

The oneness we have in Christ is that we have become His body.

Because of this . . . for this cause . . . this is the reason . . . a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife.

It's not that we get married to see what it's like being married to Jesus. We get married to experience what it's like to be the same flesh and bone as another.

We are members of His body, and that's why we get married, to see what that's like.

You may say I'm splitting hairs, only, there is in fact someone who is to be wed to God. Israel was previously wed to God, and God sent her away with a divorce. He's announced His intention to rewed her. This is the wife of the Lamb, who makes herself ready, as she waits in the wilderness, and in time will say, Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the LORD.

Romans is written not to jews, it is written to gentiles.

Romans 7
Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.

If someone is married to Christ then they are His wife - bride.
Christ is not a polygamist, with multiple wives. He has just has one wife, one bride.
Paul is saying to the Roman church, they are married to Christ.

It can mean nothing else, being clearly written to gentiles, means they are also of the true Israel after the Spirit, not according to the flesh.

You are promoting an Israel according to the flesh!., making a distinction that is not recognized in scriptures. According to the apostle's doctrines, the NC does not allow for what your saying.

If I were a two gospels dispensationalist.
This post would have convinced me I have been in error not knowing the Scriptures.
You have brought to light an inescapable truth. Romans is written to gentile Christian's in the church!!!

I only disagree with the interpretation of the passage you used,in Romans 7.

Both jew and gentile Christian's are only under the new covenant.
Jewish Christians are no longer under the old Mosaical law.

Jewish Christians have become dead to the law because the gentiles were never subject to it.
Romans 7
Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.
Paul wrote Romans so all Christians can know there is no more old Mosaical law only the church, body, bride of Christ.

But yes, this post proves Mark, Doug, Grace Ambassador cannot understand the new testament bride of Christ.
If I was one of them I would have lost all faith in this doctrine.

Thanks Scott Downey
