No, the scriptures are not the final say on everything. That is not biblical.
Everything in the scriptures is indeed the word and authority of God. However, within their contents it is written that a final word would yet come only after "He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way" (2 Thessalonians 2:7).
Also in the scriptures there are two passages that indicate that there are some things that God has sealed, that would not come until "the time of the end" (Daniel 12:9) and "in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound" (Revelation 10:7).
In other words, the test of confirming everything as final with the scriptures--is only so good, and not the final word from God.
He who restrains has in fact restrained the scriptures just as He has "all language" under "confusion" (Genesis 11:7). Then, even after Christ ascended and sent the Holy Spirit, the scriptures were only to be "spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:14), beginning at Pentecost. Before this, only a preview was given by Jesus, when He asked His disciples who He was, to which Peter answered--not by flesh and blood or worldly means, but by knowledge given to him directly from the Father. But even all written scripture--is not everything.
All who study the scriptures should be clear on this--because it is written there--but also because disregarding the above conditions, means missing those things that were yet to come.
