Did you mean to say that IF Paul were dependent on his own righteousness that it would not leave space for grace? Am I understanding correctly?

When you say, "would preempt grace", are you meaning grace as "enabling power" or it's other meaning of "undeserved favor"?

So that relying on my own efforts to be right with God prevent His enabling power to have effect in me? Is that your idea? I want to make sure I understand.

When a person who condones sin tries to accuse someone who is trying to explain something very far beyond that person's experience...of boasting...then all we have left is a sinful testimony, as in...grace doesn't work, we are all still in Adam under the dominion of sin we have not been liberated from the bondage of Adam...

Now, having believed such lies...due to your own lack of experience of grace, you must then choose from 2 options

1. Be like Behold and falsely claim your sins are actually seen as holiness by God in a crazy scheme that makes Jesus a sinner and we the righteous as Jesus

2. OR we water down the truth to such an extent that any old sinner can claim to be a saint..which most of you prefer.

Which translation is the right one, the one you use (KJV) to make your case or the ESV ?

I do think the ESV explains what John meant to say IN CONTEXT what he wrote earlier, 2 chapters ago. There it is, that pesky word context that so often destroys quoted isolated verses, as in your case.

. It can not be that 3:6 means - one sin and you never knew Jesus.
. It can not be that 3:8 means - one sin and you are of the devil.
. Likewise, It can not be that 3:9 means - a reborn can not sin.

Furthermore a literal KJV interpretation is in direct conflict what John wrote in chapter one :

1Joh 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
1Joh 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Joh 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Joh 1:10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

You are simply using more and more corrupted translations to follow the modern trend of justifying sin. The truth is lost...the power is denied.

Why should I take you seriously who give so much room for sin. Paul said we should avoid such people.

So far what you have contributed does not line up with the whole counsel of the Scriptures, 2 isolated verses in 1 John, not even properly understood does not make a sinless walk in Christ true.

More than 100 billion people lived and died on the planet an no one, not one, lived without sin.

Because Jesus was God the Son, and God the Son like God the Father can not sin, not even when taking the human form.

There is no sin in Christ...to enter into Christ (abide) means you have been purged from sin. Do you deny the resurrection? Do you deny the power of the gospel? Grace? The cross of Christ?
