I decided to use the Recovery Version of the New Testament. It was simply closer than my NIV Bible. :funlaugh2

As one foot follows the other, I‘ve completed our reading for today. Looking forward to you checking in with me.

My time here may soon be over @Riven. If it is, don’t be concerned about it. If you continue reading the Bible daily, I’ll be content with what I’ve accomplished here. If we don’t have the opportunity to speak again, farewell and Godspeed.

I don't understand. What's happened?

I was reported by another member who believes that I slandered him. I was able to log in this morning. I wasn’t sure that I would be able to.

Did you do the ten minutes yesterday?

That makes three days in a row. You’re doing well.

Matthew 4 has 25 verses. We should be able to read it in our daily ten today.

P.S.

Down and out people were known to say during the Great Depression: “Brother, can you spare a dime?”

I was reminded of that yesterday and it prompted a similar thought: “Brother, can you spare ten minutes [for Jesus]?”

I’ve had an extremely hectic day @Riven. I finally got around to reading today’s ten after supper. I’m really digging the Jerusalem Bible. I’m finding it very difficult to put down. I’m already looking forward to tomorrow’s ten.

Matthew 5 has 48 verses. I’m going to suggest that we take two days to read it together - verses 1-26 on Saturday and verses 27-48 on Sunday. Let me know what you think. We’re equal partners in this test.

I've had a few hectic days. I'm gonna try to get back on catch up tonight.

That can happen occasionally. Don’t beat yourself up over it. One of the good things about our “ten program” is that if either one of us gets behind a day or two, it’s not hard to quickly catch up and get right back on track.

I finished today’s ten.

@JLB thank you for encouraging him.

How would you explain this to a Muslim or a Jew?
A rather large subject and even difficult subject, and so here's a little longer reply, that only addresses a Muslim.

When attempting to convert at least one Muslim (excluding Jews), you might mention that Jesus submitted to God, just as the Qur’an acknowledges Abraham’s submission to God, stating, “His Lord said to him, ‘Submit yourself to Me.’ Abraham replied, ‘I submit myself to the Lord of the Universe.’” In the same way, Jesus, as a devoted Jew , Judahite or Judean and follower of the Abrahamic tradition, submitted to God the Father, and his spirit acknowledged it. However, it is crucial to understand that submission to God does not equate to being a Muslim, since the term "Muslim" specifically refers to someone who submits to God according to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and Islam, however, one can still reject the Trinity and Jesus’ so-called inherent common substance divinity with God, his Father. Jesus’ submission was to the same God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, whom Christians believe to be the Father alone, and existing in spirit only.

Although Jesus submitted to the Father, He also identified Himself as the Son of God and the path to the Father, declaring, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

This distinction is crucial, as the Christian understanding of God is fundamentally different from the Islamic concept of Allah, who is seen as having no son.

Therefore, while Jesus submitted to God, He did so within a context of a human identity with a supernatural mission guided and led by his Father, who is God - distinct from Islam and also unfortunately from many views of Orthodox Christianity.

It must be said, in truth, that this basic and general approach outlined above will not work if a die-hard Trinitarian attempts to explain it, saying God's submissive Son, is also the same God as his Father. This statement would be a deal-breaker to a Muslim, every time.

And the same would be true in speaking with a Jew, because both will never accept Jesus as more than a human being, and only possibly with divine characteristics of and from his Father.

Final comment: Trinitarianism is the greatest drag and hindrance in converting a Jew or Muslim to God through his Son since its 4th century inception, and always will be. Trinitarianism, amongst other reasons was also created to force it down the throats of all peoples and religions, eventually. It is a truth that will always be attempted to stay hidden.....

I was able to catch up this morning. I still have to begin Matthew 5 later today.

Excellent.

Looking ahead, Matthew 6 has 34 verses. Reading verses 1-18 tomorrow and then verses 19-34 on the following day would fit well with our ten minute plan.

Did you do the ten minutes yesterday?

Don't they make determinations whether that was the case or not? Or does a report make it valid by itself?

Because I think he believed I slandered him but if you read what I actually wrote I did not do that at all.

But if that be the unfortunate case, this being the internet, any time down can be taken up with one click to participate on another forum between you two. If you keep the same usernames when doing a switch between just makes someone easy to follow that way.

I presume they do.

No.

He thinks everyone, including the moderators, is out to get him.

I’m not currently posting on any other forum. I don’t know if @Riven is or not. If he is, that might be possible. There are some forums which I’m not allowed to use.

If you keep the same usernames when doing a switch between just makes someone easy to follow that way.

Yes, unless the username is already assigned to someone else.

But is he still a Jew in heaven?

I saw this on my X / Twitter “For you” feed this afternoon and recalled your question -

“There is a Jew who is in charge of everything behind the scenes. His name is Jesus of Nazareth.”

(R. Scott Clark)

If you meet someone who tells you that Jesus wasn’t a Jew, or that he isn’t still a Jew, then you’ve met someone who‘s deceived and deceiving.

The Nazi government tried to strip Jesus of his Jewishness in the Third Reich. That’s a famous example. It still happens in our day.

You’re reading about the real Jesus, the Jesus who was and is a Jew, in Matthew.

Got through chapter 5 after dinner.

But why would ethnicity matter in the spiritual realm? It seems silly to me.
