That's a misunderstanding of Universalism. Willingly accepting Jesus as Lord will be universal.

Jehovah wants his name known and used. Jesus wants his Fathers name known and used-Thus every true follower wants Goods name known and used. The mislead stand in opposition to that name.

So, was Jesus orthodox?

John was called "John the Baptist", so when He baptised Jesus, that identified that He trusted Baptists. However, to fulfil the Law in relation to Baptism you have to do more than "trust" - Jesus fulfilled the Law, in going to the Cross, therefore He was able to identify as something greater than Baptist-in-word-only. I think this was the will of God, because it gave everybody a chance, to be something great in the faith - God doesn't refuse to "trust you" before you are baptised, therefore it is possible to trust God more than with Baptism alone.

Of what value is orthodox, and of what harm is unorthodox?
These are typically just labels used to discredit others.

But Christians are quick to rally around a topic asking if Universalism is orthodox.
The implication being, that Universalism is UNorthodox, and therefore bad.

So, was Jesus orthodox?

Orthodoxy-
Soundness of faith; a belief in the genuine doctrines taught in the Scriptures.

Understanding -
Scriptures IS the teaching of KNOWLEDGE.
Gods (infinite) KNOWLEDGE was/ is taught, little by little, bit by bit…

CAVEAT-
Which means, MUCH of Gods KNOWLEDGE Remains Secret to manKind…UNTIL…if, when, God Reveals His Knowledge To manKind.

Thereafter, manKIND, (through an individuals own FREEWILL, can hear, learn, study, believe, ignore, reject… throughout his own lifetime…natural aging, immature or mature.)

Over the course of decades, centuries, little by little, bit by bit, Gods Knowledge has been revealed to men…

And over the course of decades, (some) men have undermined, corrupted, superseded, minced, promoted, encouraged, attempted to normalize…
Lies to be Taught and accepted as Truths…
AND:
Favors, honors, rewards, trophies, accolades doled out to those who willingly Accept Lies as Truths.

Bottom line-
Regardless of the “accolade's” attached to an individual (PhD, expert, famous, wealthy, important title holder, blah, blah…)
Everyone-
Is influenced, and or possessed by a higher power than manKind.
