I asked Jesus to critique my faith - He said "you take too long to rebuke the Devil" (no kidding!)

Hi there,

So those of you who are mature will love this. It's about a relationship with Jesus, that you can actually test. Getting feedback on faith (anything really) is really important to getting it right; so knowing that you can trust Jesus for feedback should really help you.

What I did was, I said "Jesus, is there anything wrong with my faith?" Just a simple question; no flowery words. It allowed me to put my faith in focus, that it was for Him, that He was the Judge. Remember that believers will face the Great White Throne Judgment in the afterlife (Revelation). So by exercising my faith, knowing that He is responsible for how my faith is and will be judged, I asked what mattered most (to that faith): is Jesus pleased with my faith? More importantly, where can I improve my faith?

Jesus promises that if you ask, you shall receive and the answer to this "question" was no exception: Jesus said "you take too long to rebuke the Devil". That's it! That's what He said. Don't ask me how I knew what He was saying, I guess He spoke to my conscience (from where the question arose). I suppose Jesus answered that way because He would like an answer about His faith, from God, the same way. The answer was to the point. I do spend way too long waiting for the right moment, to stand up for myself. The Devil realises I am not rebuking him, and makes my situation worse. It's something that with the Holy Spirit's help, I will improve.

And that is where the question leaves me! I now realise that I need to pray to the Holy Spirit about this, to get the right council about the right motive, to the right end. I trust that the Holy Spirit and I together will rebuke and resist the Devil and it will be pleasing to God. To God be the Glory - I hope this has been of some encouragement to you (naturally, I would love to hear of areas of faith that you need to improve?).

God bless.

OK you asked Jesus a question and got an answer, so why do you need to pray about the answer?

In a nutshell. When being tempted you are far to slow to pray and rebuke the devil.
So you need to recognise you are being tempted and react quicker. What is there to pray about.

If you are in the army and the Sargent says ' jump ' you jump, you don't wait to ask how high.

Jesus has to.d you to react quicker, so react.

Ditto....been there...all in God’s timing and all in God’s strength.....we completely 100% rely on him, to get us to that place....he got me there....taken many years though.....put our trust in him, he’s at work in our hearts/ spirit all day every day.....it’s even better when our ears and eyes are open....Praise God.
The Devil realises I am not rebuking him, and makes my situation worse. It's something that with the Holy Spirit's help, I will improve.
100% Amen!.....be encouraged......took me a long time to even understand what faith in God meant.....we grow in faith ,Brother, we grow to understand that God is in every situation......I’m going to the hygienist today, my faith is in God that he will get me through it....I hate going to the hygienist in honesty.

Faith never stops growing......does God ever show you something at times, which seems to strengthen your faith in him, sometimes we just need that reminder that he is in our situation.?

Just further to the OP: I asked Jesus what He likes about me, He said "You don't ask why" (it's true, I don't); then I asked what verse I should focus on, He said "Hypocrites! You strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel"

So now you know!

Jesus rebuked Simon, saying "get behind me Satan"
This is simply an expression of Simon's understanding of something from Satan,Simon is not the Devil.

For example:skin for skin, eye for eye, blood for blood.

I'm still interested in this, if anyone wants to comment.

I asked Jesus some other things about my faith, but (partly because I am on medication that limits my memory) I don't remember what it was about or what He said. Nevertheless, I have come back to this topic, to develop it more.

My understanding has grown a little: part of our faith is understanding who we were to Jesus in the beginning (He said in John that we were with Him in the beginning), part of our faith is understanding that we failed Jesus and used the Devil as a defence, and part of it is understanding that if we repent the strength of our understanding is not lost to us - as pertains to serving Christ further.

I think the thing for me to learn at the moment, is to just consistently practice not letting the Devil go unchecked, for long periods of time. It is something I can improve - especially with the Holy Spirit. Probably more than anything I just need your prayers!

Thoughts?

No matter what the medication is, did you ask the doctor what can you do to not take the medication? Change your diet? The Lord told me my medication was making me sick, contrary to the doctor; I threw it in the trash and changed my diet.,
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

Jermiah 17:5 -
Thus says the Lord:
“Cursed is the man who trusts in man
and makes flesh his strength,
whose heart turns away from the Lord.

From his description, it seems that he might be taking medication for depression?
I know a therapist lady who suffers from depression and a former alcoholic. She gets up and runs in the morning like clockwork for endorphins to kick in. She stays on a nonfat diet and deals with it. Endorphins are a powerful "God medicine". Morning and evening runs.

In Biblical times, one who trafficked in drugs was a φαρμακεία (pharmakeia), which is translated in our Bibles as SORCERY.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are plain: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, 20 idolatry, SORCERY, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, party spirit, 21 envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Sorcerers in those days were known for poisoning people, and then selling those same people the 'cure' for their sickness.

The last few years have been eye-opening where it comes to drug companies. It seems that sorcery is still alive and well in the world today. I hope your doctor is one of the good ones, but... it seems that the drug companies have infiltrated our doctor's education. I find it hard to trust doctors anymore.

I don't have a doctor anymore. The Holy Spirit tells me what I need to do. I do not take any drugs.

Oh but let us also be wa rned .
For a well favored HARLOT of all harlots
does pour her drink of spiritual fornication upon the world
and the inhabitants darn sure are being made DRUNK by her cup . Oh yes . beware the love of a harlot .
For though always it cometh to please the flesh of man , its end is certain death unto all
who partook of a harlots cup of love . Watch out , and do be on g aurd
for she has many co workers who surely know how and do pour and to blend her cup RIGHT into their own camps and unto their own peoples .
