When a nation defends its own boarders, that is one thing, but when the nations fight wars in other people’s countries, that is something else entirely....but regardless.....it’s none of our business as Christ’s disciples. We remain innocent bystanders.

By the time Jesus presented himself as Messiah, the Jews as a nation had been subjugated for some time, and they had no military force. For a Jew to join the military in the first century was an act of betrayal....fighting for their enemies. The tax collectors were viewed the same way....despised as traitors.

Jesus did not at any time suggest military action by his disciples......he had a whole other “army” at his disposal. (Matt 26:52-53) We can let them do what they are commissioned to do......it’s not our job.
