Well being an outright steadfast pre-tribber, I know that the 70th week of Daniel does begin with the Day of the Lord.

1. The Word day does not always mean a 24 hour period.

2. In rev. 6 we see the kings of the earth saying the day of the Lord has commenced.

That doesn't line up with what Paul and Peter taught.

1 Thessalonians 5:2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.

Paul described God's wrath that occurs on the day of Lord as being "sudden" and that no one can escape it. How can that not describe a single day rather than a period of years, as you believe (I think)?

Then look at this...

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?

This is clearly referring to the day Jesus returns unexpectedly as a thief in the night. You seem to think that the day of the Lord begins even before the day He returns, but that is not reasonable. That would mean the earth would start being burned up even before He returns and I highly doubt you would try to claim that.

I agree, but that still does not necessarily mean that (in order) Jesus's return and final defeat of Satan, the final Judgment and sending away of unbelievers into that judgment, and the consummation of God's Kingdom and the beginning of the New Heaven and New Earth will take place over the course of more than one 12- or 24-hour period. All we can know is that it will all take place in very short order. How much time actually elapses is unknown, but not important, really. It'll happen, and we'll all be... very, very glad. <smile>

But, 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 and 2 Peter 3:10-12 describe mass, global destruction occurring when the day of the Lord arrives unexpectedly as a thief in the night. With that being the case, how could the day of the Lord refer to a long period of time or even a period of time involving, say, 3.5 years, or whatever you think is the case?
