Thanks. I agree with you that it doesn’t.
I find the passages to be contradictory.
I’m beginning to understand now why my appeal to the teaching of Jesus and the apostles hasn’t persuaded you -> you believe Paul is wrong.
In 2 Peter 3:15-16, Peter said that Paul’s writing is sometimes difficult to understand. He also said that Paul’s writing is scripture.
In John 10:35, Jesus said that scripture cannot be broken. This means that Paul’s writing cannot be broken.
To disagree with an apostle is to disagree with the one who sent him -> Jesus.
The apostle is representing Jesus. That immediately establishes that the apostle is right. If / When a follower of Jesus finds himself or herself disagreeing with an apostle, it’s the follower of Jesus, not the apostle, who is mistaken. We must recognize this and seek assistance in order to bring our thoughts into conformance with that of the apostle / Jesus.
Jesus himself went against the governing authorities of his day.
If you’ll give me an example we can discuss it.
We also don't need a divine explanation for how human beings end up in positions of authority.
The apostle thought we do, so I think we do.
If many antichrists have come and gone already….
As John, an apostle, says they have.
… I think it dulls the significance of the idea of the antichrist.
John didn’t.
In my experience, most Christians do not have developed critical thinking skills.
Then most Christians in your experience are in dire need of instruction.
It's therefore unlikely that they would be able to distinguish Christ from antichrist.
Then they are going to be easily deceived by the Antichrist. That’s not what Jesus and the apostles want for followers of Jesus.
Do you believe this is what I have done?
No, I don’t believe that is what you have done.
You’ve said that I’m insane. Another member has told you that I’m dishonest. Do you believe him?
Why are you asking a person whom you believe to be insane, overtaken by madness - and dishonest? - what he thinks you have done? What possible difference could an answer from such a person make to you?
