The eclipse narrative..."Sun darkened" (Joel 2:31, Matthew 24:29, Acts 2:20, Revelation 6:12, Isaiah 13:10) refers to a lunar eclipse. There was a similar lunar eclipse when Jesus was crucified in April 3, 33 A.D. (Matthew 27:45, Mark 15:33, Luke 23:44).
"Lunar" stems from Latin luna= "moon."
"Eclipse" stems from Greek εκλειψις (ekleipsis) = "failure to appear."
Matt 27:45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.
Note: The sixth hour is 12:00.
Mark 15:33 And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
Luke 23:44 It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour
This would be 3 hours of "darkness".....12:00PM to 3:00PM. An eclipse can take 2 to 3 hours from start to finish and "totality" typically last from a few seconds to 7 1/2 minutes. This doesn't seem to match the description
I also check my astronomy program....sky safari pro...and there was no eclipse on 4-3-33 that could be seen from Jerusalem. A Google search also showed no eclipse.
