God created the heavens and the earth and you shall have no other gods before me, but idols and false gods will always be around so don't worship them.
Genesis 1:26, And God said, Let us make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness:
Who is the our?
Exodus 20:3, You shall have no other gods before me.
Corinthians 10, They worshiped idols, just as the Scriptures say, “The people sat down to eat and drink. Then they got up to dance around.” So don’t worship idols.
Marakorpa wrote, What, or who, was Jesus before he became man?
The what is goodness, God is good and Jesus is good.
Is God's glory creating man in His image and/or His Omnipresence?
Moses didn't have the Holy Spirit living in him like we can and Moses talked to God face to face and he had no clue when he asked God to show him His glory what the answer would be.
Exodus 33:11, The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.
Exodus 33:18, Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”
Exodus 33:19, And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
Make my goodness and my name pass in front of you. Jesus is the glory of God.
Matthew 17:3, Then Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Jesus.
What a conversation that must have been!
Colossians 1:17, He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
All things are held together by Jesus.
Marakorpa wrote, Do you understand that Jesus, being under the same free will as the angels, Satan, and mankind, could have refused to become the ransom sacrifice. Do not think that is symantics, just think yourself and us thankful that he didn't do that.
If there is any other way and there wasn't. Jesus did the will of the Father.
Jesus is God and Jesus was man. The glory came from the man Jesus, a glory that belongs to humanity. We were created in His image but there was sin and death and along came Jesus showing us grace and truth and goodness.
Jesus called Himself the Son of Man and it directs us to the prophecy in the Book of Daniel. He called Himself Son of Man, it was His human side saying He like one of us and He came to serve, be a servant.
Daniel 7:13-14, “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a SON OF MAN, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, GLORY and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
If Jesus was just another created being, why do we worship Him? Only God is to be worshiped, Luke 4:8, Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'"
Deuteronomy 6:4
Hear, O Israel: The Lord OUR God, the Lord is ONE!
The Father, approachable and can have an intimate relationship with.
The Son, saves us and presents us to God righteous.
The Holy Spirit, teaches, leads, guides and comforts us.
Marakorpa wrote, What did Abraham do when he was asked by God to give up his son as a sacrifice?
Abraham was no stranger to child sacrifice, God didn't choose him because he was a good guy. God changed Abram's name to Abraham, meaning a father of many nations and He had no kids at the name change, at that time. Twenty years later God tells Abraham to take his son, his ONLY son to sacrifice but Abraham had 2 sons at that time and God didn't even recognize Ishmael, he was a work of the flesh. Abraham takes Issac up the mountain and when little Issac asks his dad where the sacrifice is, his dad told him God will provide that sacrifice. Abraham had every intention of sacrificing Issac that day but God stopped him and provided a sacrifice, the ram in the thicket. This is a shadow of Jesus, beloved Son of God, He will be the sacrifice, the spotless lamb. Jesus is not a work of the flesh, not a created being, He was a promise just as Issac was a son of promise.
John 1:29, The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
Romans 3:25, For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past,
