I am tired of the garbage on this site.

Tribalism; separatism; racism; elitism; moralism; hatred of neighbor; mechanical Christianity; doctrine before people; pep rallies for Jesus; trumpism; fear of losing power-ism; fear of other faith-ism; and finally, the mountains of ‘lack of faith’ masquerading as faith - it really is stunnng to watch so many Christians substitute ‘faith’ for ‘knowing’ and try to sell it to the world.

The world already thinks they are right and know everything - we are not called to cmpete with their method.....it leads to Hell, remember?

We are called to offer a different path called loving neighbor unconditionally.

Amen

It is hard to change how one thinks and how one behaves.

What advice would you offer?

What advice would you offer?
And as long as you think/believe it is hard it will be, my friend.
My advice that has worked for me for over a decade, because we all have thoughts
we don't need to have...is to practice Mind Control or Thought Control...
addicts are told to practice Behavioral Modification.

When any, any, any thought enters your mind that is anything other than positive and kind...
see it for what it IS...useless, unloving...and banish it from your mind...
if you saw a bloody murder on TV it is as easy as changing the channel...do the same in
your mind. :)
Stop criticism, anger, jealousy, lust, worry, pride, indignation...any thought that is not godly or
from the Holy Spirit's Thought System.

One solid week...watch any icky thought, recognize it...get rid of it...you will
become aware of just how many of these thoughts have been allowed to come in!

Get rid of them...for one week...see what happens!! :)

aspen:

There are real people on this site that want to contribute their views. It forms a social and dynamic environment. We must realize this and not all will convey that all loving tone that you or some require or waht to read in their communications. Most if not all are genuine in performing this process of getting their points across. There are some that are extroverts that are more forceful, and some that are introverts that get more offended by reading an extrovert’s comments. The intentions are seen by me as ‘good’ and even very loving although for some the execution is awful. That’s what I see. I overlook any offense as I do not want to be labelled an hypocrite in this regard. I have learned to overcome any type of intimidation or bullying in life, let alone on this site.

My wife, a few years back, who is also an introvert, she made it her business to block out any negativity in her life from that point on. What prompted it what the negative and uncaring TV, the shows, the news and politics etc. It works for her today. It is just like what @Miss Hepburn was speaking about.

If you cannot learn to cope with the dynamics of this site, then maybe find another one. I would wager thought the next one will be either very sedated, controlled and meaningless for spiritual growth (for me at least) or more boisterous that this one.

Bless you,

APAK

Aspen, you said “We are called to offer a different path called loving neighbor unconditionally.” I get what you are saying but what I have experienced is this: it is a waste of effort, time, and energy to convince others of this. Why not just do? Why not be that ‘different path’ reguardless of what others do. Even here on this board.

A short testimony: a couple of years ago when God first called me, one thing He moved me to do was to send an email late one night to someone I felt I had not loved very well. It was a letter of forgiveness; a letter really originating between God and me and a surrender of the bitterness I wanted to let go of. I was determined to love this person no matter what. Over the past couple of years God has also promted me to send her texts meassages telling this person she is valued and to point out good qualities I could see in her. I always wanted her to know she is appreciated and seen. This person has hurt and attacked me and my family repeatedly no matter how many times I tried to encourage her. She is ate up with fear and hatred and spite. She is in bondage. I never fully understood why God would place love in my heart for someone that wanted to cause my family and me damage....but He did. Without giving you all the details, last week we were in court; this individual took us there. When she was presenting her case to the Judge, her and her attorney approached the bench. The court room was full of people. I could hear them talking to her and she kept pulling out copies of text and emails. She was going to use everything I had ever sent or said to her to support her case against my family. I was so embarrassed and uncomfortable in my skin. I wanted to leave the courtroom crying, certain she was going to share some ugly words I had sent her over the years. I sat beside my husband, certain he would be upset with me for giving an enemy ammunition. Instead, she presented all the encouragement over the years and read them all out loud for the court room to hear. Even my letter of forgiveness to her. Her argument was that: I was for her, not against her. As she read them the total embarrassment begin to subside and all I could do was inwardly praise God for helping me be different and let go of hurt. He had planned that moment. My husband reached over, took my hand, and whispered, “you are a builder-upper...not a tearer-downer.” It was Him, not me. I could have been sending her messages of hate and spite in response to hers. Don’t wait on others. Just do. You have no idea how God will use small moments.

For a quarter of a century, I dealt with some seriously disturbed people whose only view of the world was usually negative. I didn't have the luxury of just dismissing them and their thoughts. I had to learn how to deal with it on a daily basis. The task for us is not to be "running" from unpleasantness for our own protection, but rather, "reaching" people through it for theirs.
