Paul charges us to beware those who are ..."always learning but never come into the knowledge of the truth"

So then these know something of the truth...but they resist the whole knowledge of the truth and this for a variety of reasons...indoctrinations, pride, a lack of love and discernment, an unwillingness to let go of the world, unteachableness...etc, etc. But especially a lack of faith.

If nobody knew the truth...then all believers would not be judged against the truth...as the truth would be unknowable. But if the truth IS being presented here and there...then are we not responsible for denying it? Does this not reveal a lack of faith in us and among us? When the Son of Man returns, will He find faith on the earth?

It is something to consider among the open minded...

When Jesus was presented to the Sanhedrin...had they not already judged many false messiahs? Why couldn't this be but just one more false prophet?

It seems the only way for people to hear the truth is to see signs and wonders....THEN...they will open their minds to listen to what is being said.

But the message of the gospel is no temporal signs and wonders...but eternal life. So then who can hear and discern the words of life? (I mean with no signs and wonders to distract them)

We know that evil is like a deep pit...and people can go very deep into darkness. But it seems we don't know the goodness of the Lord goes deeper still.

Jesus said..I am the way, the truth and the life. He came to bring us a new kind of life....a life from another place...heaven.

Grace enables us to walk in Zion...in a heavenly place.

All sound doctrine leads to life. All false doctrine leads to death. That's how we can discern the truth.

But who has made the jump into "light speed"? We are to walk in the light.

When I watched Star Wars, there was a scene or two where a ship went into a warp speed where light slowed down...

When we are filled with the Spirit we see the light slowed down sort of like that. The light shimmers slowly. Of course this sounds crazy...but the realm of the Spirit is specific. When Paul says..."put on the armour of light"...most people think that is just a metaphor. But you actually are surrounded in light in the Spirit. You see as Jesus saw. You walk as Jesus walked. In the power of the life to come...the power of spiritual faculties.

In my books...all believers should seek this walk with all they have. But who even believes such a walk exists? :)

Where is the faith today that God would have made such a wonderful provision for the followers of Christ?

No, I think Helen, Nancy and I are alike in that. We don't claim we have the only truth... but that we have the part of the truth God intends for us to have at this particular time.

Agree.
When we are new Christians God does not dump the whole revelation of His word into our laps. Like a good parent he feed us according to the amount of revelation that we can digest and understand.

Much that I have received now..."back then" I would probably have run a mile from...thinking it was error. And much now that I believe is nothing like that which I first believed , because I was , as everyone else...'just fed the party line'. Over the years I have probably thrown out more than I have kept!

As I have mentioned before...we are a body..all have a different perspective , and not one of us is the 'whole body' with all the truth of revelation in our back pocket.

What annoys me is a person who is SURE they personally "see clearly" all that there is to see...and know-it-all.
I would go as far as to say that they are deceived.

First the sincere milk of the Word; later its strong meat...

On its own, it doesn't. But mixed with the following...
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Tit 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
1Jo 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Great verses there.

maybe it has to do with the 3 blind men who were given sight by our Lord. Two rushed off to tell everyone they could see, but only one came back and remained. And if you pair that with the one of the man who was given sight in two stages, first faint and blurry, then full sight as he spoke with our Lord and He touched the man again, you can't believe it took Him 2 tries to get the healing right, so...what does it mean for us?
Re. being thankful for what the Lord Jesus has done for His people, Paul links thankfulness with prayerfulness and joyfulness in both Philippians 4 and 1 Thessalonians 5. It seems that some of the healed, formerly blind men were so taken up with their benefits that they forgot to be thankful...

"what is currently true may shortly be false"
And what was once currently true has long since been forgotten... So when reminded it may appear as new truth, but is in fact old.
Maybe there is no new truth to be known... We just need to be reminded of what God's people in the past knew and practiced. That was what the reformation was all about. Old truths coming to light which were previously buried and forgotten amid a labyrinth of superstition and confusion. Has the reformation finished? Is there new light on old truth yet to be revealed? For some, I believe yes.
