Driving a stake in the ground with a small sign saying "Revival" is not a revival. Neither is placing letters on the marquee out front with "REVIVAL" and the dates of the span of the revival LOL.

We are, this nation is perishing for the want of God. We see panels of idiots discussing the why and how to curb mass murder in Chicago, in schools, synagogues, churches, night clubs. Everywhere.

Amos 8:11 KJVS
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God , that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord :

The so called experts give nonsensical solutions. Get rid of every gun. Let every person that wants into America just waltz in. Liberal experts say give everything to those who won't lift a, finger to work for it.

When God was evicted from America peace, security, prosperity, well being, health, good weather, abundant crops, unity and every worthwhile thing went with him. The ignorant fools didn't have nor yet have a clue that all good comes from him. It defies reason for women to form screaming mobs demanding the liberty to kill their own unborn babies. Even a coyote will defend it's young.

They obtain the liberty but shall never have the right.

Luke 10:2 KJVS
Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

We must pray for revival here as never before. America's churches are steeped in denominationalism and the members will defend the doctrines and traditions before defending God and his word.

I'm convinced that this nation can never again attain to the greatness it once saw. The time of WWII when we were many sticks as one.

Ezekiel 37:17 KJVS
And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.

Chapter 37, Ezekiel tells the whole story.

Ezekiel 37:3 KJVS
And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God , thou knowest.

Never in the very brief history of this country has it been so divided. Multitudes of anti God liberal leaders and multitudes of godless anti God liberals voting them into office.

Isaiah 1:5 KJVS
Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

It's something I've not seen in over three quarters of a century of life.

A true God given revival is the only answer. Let us pray. It is our only hope for this nation.

I think the internet is giving a voice to every Christian these days. And the gospel is everywhere proclaimed. I wouldn't get discouraged about America. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: He turneth it whithersoever he will.” (Proverbs 21:1)

“All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” (John 6:37)

Just curious. Were there any examples of "Revivals" in the Bible?

JMO but I believe the entire new testament was a revival. The anointing from the time and before of Jesus' birth through Acts and the epistles. After that the anointing dwindled it seems except for historic documented ones. The rise of the Roman church of course was no revival! God wrought revivals, they always arise in an unexpected unknown place. Places that have labored in intercession.

Being saved in 1977 we saw so many miracles a d moves of God I just ignorantly thought it was always like this. As the decades went by I realized -sadly- that it was not so. I miss those days sorely!

Recently in Austria there was conviction of a woman for speaking against Mohammed which was upheld. Darkness is, has taken fast hold of Europe. It's unsettling but Jesus told us to not be troubled.

He also told us to pray and not faint. Amen

The 60s Jesus movement in America was outstanding. Many of those remain true today. Christian coffee houses and Christian folk singers everywhere.

Amen...We had it in England too...wonderful years ... As you say. Coffee houses , house churches...Arthur Blesset dragging his cross through all the town.. everyone learning to play the guitar :)

It was a great wave...I heard that the beginning of the wave started at North Battleford Saskatchewan.( the latter rain movement) And spread from there...with the 60's being the receding of the wave. Maybe.

That is intriguing. You're probably right about the wave receding in the late 60s. By the mid 70s things lost their original zeal as the bumper crop of converts found their way into the mainstream denominations. Where they tried to adjust accordingly. Today it is not uncommon to hear the original "geezer rockers" of the original wave still hammering out to a slightly more sophisticated audience. Being preached to by guys in flannel shirts and jeans. I'm glad you spoke of the London wave, it's a special place to me.

Sure.

1. When David brought back the ark of the covenant from the Philistines.
And they brought it (the ark) out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark. And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals. (2 Sam 6:4,5)

2. After Solomon completed the building of the temple in Jerusalem.

And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD... And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days. On the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people. (1 Kings 8:10,65,66)

3. When Jehoshaphat began his reign.
And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim; But sought to the LORD God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel. Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance. And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah. (2 Chron 17:3-6)

4.
When Jehoash (Joash) was anointed king by Jehoida the priest.
And Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they should be the LORD'S people; between the king also and the people. And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD. And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings. And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king's house. Seven years old was Jehoash when he began to reign. ( 2 Kings 11:17-21)

5. When Hezekiah destroyed idolatry in Judah.
And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did. He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan. He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him. (2 Kings 18:3-5)

6. When Josiah and Judah made a covenant with the LORD.
And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant. And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel. And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven. (2 Kings 23:3-5)

7. When Ezra confessed the sins of Israel to God.
Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore. And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing. Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law. Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it. Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware. (Ezra 10:1-4)

8. When the Levites and Israel confessed the sins of Israel to God.
Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them. And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers. And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God. Then stood up upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, and cried with a loud voice unto the LORD their God... Neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept thy law, nor hearkened unto thy commandments and thy testimonies, wherewith thou didst testify against them. For they have not served thee in their kingdom, and in thy great goodness that thou gavest them, and in the large and fat land which thou gavest before them, neither turned they from their wicked works. Behold, we are servants this day, and for the land that thou gavest unto our fathers to eat the fruit thereof and the good thereof, behold, we are servants in it: And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress. And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, seal unto it. (Neh 9:1-4; 34-37)

There is no doubt that it is God who gives revival. But since we are already in the midst of the Great Apostasy, there will be no upcoming revivals. That would require sincere and serious repentance on the part of all the churches of Christendom. Which is rather unlikely. If anything, we can expect things to go even further downhill from here.

Jeremiah 29:7 KJVS
And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

2 Thessalonians 3:1 KJVS
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:

1 Thessalonians 5:25 KJVS
Brethren, pray for us.

Exodus 33:13 KJVS
Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.

2 Chronicles 7:14 KJVS
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land..

This is the time of apostasy. Things are going to continue sliding and getting worse.

Why? Because people are so in love with themselves and the world even if Christ stood before them they would say he is not real and they don't want him.

I feel there will be a revival Frank but not one inspired by God although it will be deemed to be so. Tyranny will rise its ugly head for all Gods people.
Of course the pretexts for this are all lining up.

Amen!!! The U.S. is definitely due for a major revival! It truly is our only hope! I've been earnestly praying for one for over 15 years. Hope deferred has made my heart sick at times. I know that revival is coming--hopefully, in my lifetime!

I've never seen such a downturn in churches since Jesus came for me in 77. It's beyond sad. It grieves me terribly. We used to see so many wonderful things, in every service. Prophesying, tongues and interpretations. People getting healed. Firey anointed preaching and teaching. Wonderful praise and worship services. People getting saved. Altars filled with weeping seekers of God. Just the memories make me yearn for what we saw.

I've been reading back through this thread. It's interesting that there are 2 distinct viewpoints represented. Some on this thread see that tyranny and apostasy are getting worse, and some of us hope for revival. I'm going to pull a Helen here and say that both are in the works. I believe that as the darkness grows, God's light will grow brighter. Also, as apostasy grows, I believe that there will be a huge end time harvest. Like Dickens said, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...."

Some say revival is impossible. I say with God all things are. He wants men saved far more than we do. The harvest needs workers including those that pray.

Fight the good fight of faith.

Perhaps it is that the twilight is fading away into Light and Darkness. No more in between. God is spitting out all of that in between and setting in place what ultimately always was: my way [hot] or the highway [cold]. Whether this can be said to apply to the society as a whole or the churches as a whole, it certainly is happening to each person as he walks with God or he does not. No more riding the fence as we approach the end of our individual course. Did not Joshua speak of the same choices?

"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD" Joshua 24:15
