Oh wow...lovely. It looks in very good shape and upkeep.

It mentioned " harsh winter conditions"...I doubt it mean -40 C as it does here. :D

I wish I had the money. But I am a few bob short right now LOL

I once had a conversation with a friend who is a geologist and he claims there a miles and miles of undiscovered islands and coastlands to be discovered. I can agree with that since the ocean floor is constantly pushing up molten lava and after hundreds of years it becomes an island!

brakelite,

How often does that river/lake plain flood? Is there a good reason why it is being sold so cheaply?

It sure is in part of the cold country of NZ:

I think one of the islands off the Queensland coast would be a better proposition. Try Hervey Bay and the idyllic Fraser Island. No frosts there.

Come to the Sunshine State of Qld. I'm very biased on this topic. There are lots of small towns in the NSW and Qld outback languishing because of the big drought.

Hey Oz. Yeah, that drought is horrendous. Being an ex farmer I have an inkling of what they're going through... But never been through anything as devastating as the current situation.
Sorry bro, but as much as I like the heat, (45c Melbourne in summer okay because there is respitei n winter) Queensland doesn't really appeal. My kids spent time in Brisbane and the h gold coast and couldn't get over the number of, and the size of, the snakes and spiders. Not to mention the lizards and the toads .... But hey, they are Kiwis. And there one of the pluses of NZ... No snakes. Cold maybe, but only in winter.
That lake is a hydro lake behind a dam. Doesn't flood... They just let water go of it gets to high.

brakelite,

We do have a wee bit of summer humidity in Brissy (not as bad as Cairns and Darwin). However, we have air-conditioning to relieve the 'hot'.

I enjoy the heat (except when it's high 30s and high humidity around Christmas time). That's why the Brisbane T20 cricket team is called The Brisbane Heat.

I thought the picture looked like a dam or hydro.

Maybe Canadians used to the cold can go and live there...(at least, from that point of view).
The South Island of NZ seems wonderfully scenic.

PS: I'd like to visit Milford Sound, NZ.

And Punakaiki, Westland.

And the Marlborough Sound.

And Kathleen Mansfield's museum in Wellington, North Island.

(And a whole lot more places in NZ...)
